Guide Your September 2015 Halls’ Student Experience Team publication Saturday 19th Saturday is the first of two massive moving in days at Carnatic Student Village and it’s the perfect time to get out and about meet new friends and take advantage of the events put on for your arrival. 9am till 5pm- The BIG Arrival Weekender Carnatic Student Village is alive with the excitement and the buzz of new arrivals today. Halls Welcome and Residential Advisor teams are on hand to ensure your check in goes smoothly and assist you with any last minute questions. 12noon till 11pm- The Creche of Mum and Dad hosted by the Carnatic Bar (ground floor of Carnatic House). Why not leave mum and dad at the Carnatic Bar while you check in and unpack. The bar will be a hive of activity, and with plenty of drinks offers and live sport on offer it’s the perfect place to keep the folks happy. Why not catch up with them later and meet your fellow hall mates and families over a chilled drink and watch the live screening of the Rugby World Cup. Held by our Computer Services Dept it’s your chance to fix any problems you may have connecting to the network at your hall. Bring your laptop along and let our CSD team assist you. The team are there the same time on Sunday too! Sunday 20th This is the final day of moving in with street performers and Halls’ and Residential Advisor teams on hand; everything is bound to go smoothly. Monday 21st 1pm - Local Food Shopping Tour Departing from Carnatic Reception this FREE tour will take you to all the local shopping spots, this tour will also give you an insight into the local area. 2pm till 4pm Crafternoons- VG&M (the red brick building on campus) Our Experienced artist will lead the session in using vintage books and maps to create bespoke necklaces and brooches. Unique accessories for yourself, or friends. This FREE Session is held in the Cafe on the ground floor and is on a first come first served basis. 7pm - Wardens Talk for residents of Salisbury Hall and Rankin Hall Must Do This MANDATORY talk is held in the Herculaneum Room. 9pm - Live music at The Carnatic Bar Head down to the Carnatic Bar for your pre-party warm up, with great drinks deals and a live band it’s sure to be a fantastic night. Tuesday 22nd Faculty Mixers Want to meet other people from the halls who are on your course? Come to our get togethers tonight and tomorrow at the Herculaneum Room tonight’s sessions are: 10:30am till 4:30pm- Carnatic Poster Sale Want to spruce up your room and add something more to your tastes? Head down to the Carnatic Bar for a vast range of posters on sale at great prices. 4:30pm till 5:30pm 11:30am, 1pm, 2:30pm and 4pm - Campus Tours School of Arts; School of Histories, Languages and Cultures. These tours commence at the Guild of Students (Reilly Building) They are FREE and the perfect way to get to know your university better. This is your chance to get the inside knowledge on what’s hot about living here at the University. Visit our stalls to get advice and help from Student Support Services, register with Student Health, get that essential job advice from the Careers and Employability Service, not to mention all you need to know about your hall’s sports teams from Sport Liverpool. Wednesday 23rd 4pm -Shiverpool Ghost Tour There are plenty of opportunities to bag a freebie or two and a chance to enter our FREE PRIZE DRAW. Bookable at the Guild Reception this is your chance to discover Liverpool’s haunted past. This tour is part of your “Give it a go” programme and has been greatly reduced to the bargain price of just £2 per person. This is your perfect opportunity to find out about joining your Hall Student Committee and Student Guiding Team and make a big difference to your own hall. Faculty Mixers continue in the Herculaneum Room. Saturday 26th 12pm Walking Tour of Liverpool Always a popular tour with Arthur our resident expert on all that is Liverpool. Expect to be gone at least half a day. Head down to the Herculaneum Room to meet new people from Carnatic and expect some speed meeting, refreshments and fun had by all. From 7pm X Factor Catch Up Why not join your fellow roomies down in your common rooms to catch up with this week’s latest X Factor goings on. 9pm- Welcome Ball Warm UP at the Carnatic Bar Warm up for the Guild’s Welcome Ball with a drink or two at the Carnatic Bar. With great drinks offers and a FREE glass of fizz for the first 50 attendees its’s bound to be busy.
