JULY & AUGUST 2015 PRATTLIBRARY.ORG Programs For Children page HOME AWAY FROM HOME Recently we received a touching letter from a 5th grader named Emily in Massachusetts. She wrote: “If I was living near your library during the rioting, I would want to come because it would make me feel safe.” After the unrest, we received a flood of letters, emails, phone calls and even tweets from around the globe thanking the staff of the entire Enoch Pratt Free Library system for remaining open. Libraries were a safe place for families to visit when everything felt unsettled and volatile. The Pratt staff were there providing comfort by doing what we do best – providing information, resources, and programs for children, teens and adults. This summer, make the Pratt Library your home away from home. Register for the Summer Reading program and enjoy all the free and fun activities for the entire family. Also the City will be providing free summer meals to children at six Pratt branches – Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast Anchor, Herring Run, Walbrook, Cherry Hill and Brooklyn. We want to enrich and feed their minds and bodies. The Pratt Library has been part of the fabric of Baltimore for more than a century. And as long as the Central Library and 21 branches are standing, we will be here for you. Carla D. Hayden Chief Executive Officer Programs For Families 2 page PAM THE KINDERSINGER Ages birth - 2.
