Winter Season 2004/5
incorporating
Welcome
12 years in the Alps
and 30 years on the piste
Welcome to Skitopia’s 2005 ski and boarding programme!
This year we have teamed up with Handmade Snow to make
sure you have plenty of choice for your skiing trip. You’ll be pleased
to know that we still operate in the tried and tested resorts of
Montgenèvre and Serre Chevalier (where we have added the Hotel Rif
Blanc). But this year you can choose from a handful of exciting new
resorts, too – La Clusaz, Tignes and the Three Valleys. If this weren’t
enough, there are also several extra Handmade Destinations which
are ideal for long or short breaks.
Our new all-inclusive skiing holiday prices offer fantastic value.
All packages now include return flights, overseas transfers, chalet
full-board, ski hire, boot hire, lift pass and, in many of our hotels and
chalets, free bars. What’s more, if you book early, and if you have
travelled with us before, you will qualify for even more discounts.
Finally, for peace of mind, it’s worth remembering that you can book
your skiing trip with Skitopia secure in the knowledge that your
money is covered by our ATOL & ABTA bonding.

Serre Chevalier
France’s best-kept secret
Those in the know rate Serre Chevalier as an awesome place to ski. It is a
dynamic resort made up of several villages set in the wooded Guisane valley in
the southern French Alps. Each village is different – some are traditional, some
modern – but all share the same ski area, a massive 250km of varied piste,
which is the fourth-largest in France. Skitopia is based in Villeneuve (otherwise
known as Serre Chevalier 1400) and Monetier-Les-Bains (Serre Chevalier 1500).
Villeneuve, where old meets new, provides all the facilities and comforts we
have come to expect of a modern resort, but teams it with the unique charm of
12th-century France. Monetier, a pretty spa village, is the highest resort in the
area and remains resolutely unspoilt.
To add even more value to your lift pass, there’s a ski bus that runs a very
efficient service all around the valley, allowing you to begin and end your day’s
skiing wherever you like.

La Clusaz
Friendly and stylish resort
La Clusaz is a traditional Savoyard village, one of the most picturesque in
France. The fusion of Swiss style and French elegance makes it innately
charming, a chic destination for a skiing holiday.
The village, which is within sight of Mont Blanc, boasts a remarkably large ski
area for a single resort and is highly regarded by French skiers for its extensive
lift system. This is one of those rare places that appeals to all levels, offering
tough challenges for the hardcore as well as natural highs for less demanding
skiers. The terrain is incredibly varied and you’ll find plenty to amuse you, from
quiet tree-lined runs to the resort’s immense amount of off-piste.
La Clusaz is also an ideal family destination, with its friendly village atmosphere
and lovely peaceful slopes that lead down into hidden valleys with solitary
churches. And, wherever you are, a vin chaud is never far away, as there is an
abundance of restaurants, all offering sustenance at affordable prices.

Monty - the place we call home
This resort is picture-postcard pretty. It’s the oldest ski resort in France
and it’s no wonder that those who visit want to return. Situated on the
French/Italian border (which means you can even ski into Italy for a spot of
lunch), Monty is the southern-most door into the vast ski area known as the
Milky Way, host of the 2006 Winter Olympics. The high altitude, the sheer
variety of skiing, the region’s enviable sunshine record and its late-season
snow combine to make this a great all-round resort for everyone from
powder hounds to blue-run cruisers.
The friendly village is small but beautifully formed, and there are plenty of
bars and restaurants, all within a stone’s throw of one another. It’s hard not
to wax lyrical about Monty and we feel it’s a must for those who have
missed out so far.

Tignes
Truly impressive ski area
High up in the magnificent Savoie Alps, Tignes has an enviable reputation as
the most snow-sure resort in France. You will find us in the village of Tignes Les
Brévières, which still has that sought-after authentic Alpine atmosphere.
It’s no secret that this ski area – known as L’Espace Killy – is the most impressive
in Europe and is a skier’s paradise. There’s an exceptional mix of runs for all
levels, whether you’re after top-notch glacier skiing, tricky moguls, sweeping
motorways or wicked off-piste. What’s more, the whole lot is accessed via an
enviable integrated lift system. The L’Espace Killy lift pass allows you to link
Tignes to the world-famous neighbouring resort of Val d’Isère, which gives you
the chance to ski some of the most exciting and challenging terrain in the Alps.
Added to all that, there is a wealth of restaurants to suit all budgets and tastes.
You can savour the authentic Alpine nightlife in Tignes Les Brévières, or decamp
to legendary hang-outs such as Dick’s Tea Bar or Pacific in Val d’Isère – either of
which are enough to satisfy even the most hardened party animal.

Three Valleys
An exceptional skiing base
St Martin de Belleville is a traditional farming village situated in the
beautiful Belleville valley. This mouthwatering location, perhaps the
last-remaining unspoilt area of the Trois Vallées, is a great place from
which to explore the neighbouring resorts of Méribel, Courcheval and Van
Thorens. The superb skiing at St Martin de Belleville itself is linked to the
rest by a modern and efficient lift system. In fact, the super-fast lift that’s
a stone’s throw from your chalet is so good that you can reach the top of
Méribel and Courchevel before the crowds.
A friendly and informal atmosphere prevails in the village, which has a
good range of bars, restaurants and shops as well as a crèche. In the late
afternoons, children sledge on the bottom of the piste as parents watch
from the surrounding restaurant terraces.

Chamonix - France
La Plagne - France
Les Arcs - France
La Plagne and Les Arcs share a massive ski area that
equates to more than 400km of piste. We think that
the best way to enjoy this area is in the tranquillity
of the little-known village of Champagny en Vanoise,
located on the La Plagne side of the valley.
Les Arcs sits at an altitude of 1950m and, along with
La Plagne, gives the skier a staggering 400km of piste
to explore. For the modernists among you, it offers
the efficiency you crave and all the advantages of a
purpose-built resort.
La Ruche is a fantastic ten-person chalet located in
Chamonix town, approximately five minutes by bus
from the nearest lift.
Chalets du Bouquetin Apartments are furnished to
an exceptionally high standard and come in a variety
of sizes, sleeping between two and 25 people. They
are situated just a five-minute walk from the lifts
and two minutes from the village centre.
Le Hameau du Glacier Apartments are beautifully
finished and have all mod cons. There’s even a full
fitness suite including swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna
and turkish bath. They sleep from two to eight
people, offer doorstep skiing, and are situated within
a two-minute walk of all amenities.

Any resort which has Mont Blanc as a backdrop is
bound to gain a reputation for year-round activities,

Chamonix is the epitome of all of these. It is as busy

ceases to appeal to people across the world who are
looking for more advanced skiing.

France - Italy - Canada
Champoluc - Italy
Whistler - Canada
The village of Champoluc is deep in the heart of the
Monterosa ski area. Great food, European chic, a
laid-back atmosphere and plenty of bars and
restaurants leave you in no doubt that you are in Italy.
Be sure to make time for the skiing, though, as this
resort is famous for exceptional off-piste and cross
country runs.
Whistler has a huge ski area, is snow-sure, has great
runs, fab après ski, and the choice of more than 100
restaurants. The resort is run with a great
combination of military precision and Canadian
charm; the only danger is that skiing in Europe will
become a distant memory.
Hotel Breithorn is stylish, funky and luxurious,
offering deluxe modern accommodation. It has a spa
and treatment room and two restaurants. There is an
on-demand minibus service to run you up to the
slopes, which are a mere couple of minutes away.
Though Pinnacle International is technically a hotel,
the rooms are called studios and are more like small
apartments than hotel rooms. Each one has a fully
fitted kitchenette, lounge, separate bedroom
and fireplace.
Fernie - Canada
Fernie is smaller than its cousin Whistler, but is
nonetheless charming and a little less expensive.
It’s known as the powder capital of the
Canadian Rockies.
Lizard Creek Lodge is situated right next to the lifts
and, with a shuttle service into the town, the lodge is
a high-quality operation. There’s a full spa, outdoor

N.B. Prices are per person, per week in £ sterling. *3rd Jan price is for six day trip including 4 day pass and hire. Our prices are based on a minimum of two people sharing a room. Where room size allows, children under 12 years sharing with two full paying guests qualify for a reduction
of 30%. Children under 6 years sharing a room with at least 2 full paying guests receive a 50% reduction. Infants who are under 2 years on the
return date pay £25. These reductions include savings on both hotel rates and lift pass. Children who do not qualify for the above reductions
through insufficient occupancy still benefit from the following lift pass savings; under 12 years save £30, under 6 years and over 70 years save
£100 as they are entitled to a free pass in resort. They will however need to take proof of age to the lift office to receive their free pass.
All prices are based of full occupancy of hotel or chalet rooms. Under-occupancy of rooms or sole occupancy of chalets is available at a
supplement. Please ask for further details.
No refunds are given for guests not taking ski equipment, though those bringing their own will have the ski carriage charge waived.
Please note: to qualify, all ski carriage must be pre-booked.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Under the Association of British Insurers General Business Code of
Practice we have to bring to your attention some of the important
features of your travel insurance policy.
Insurance Policy
This contains full details of the cover provided plus the conditions
and exclusions which apply to it. You must read the insurance
policy carefully.
Conditions and Exclusions
There are conditions and exclusions which apply to individual
sections and general conditions, exclusions and warranties which
apply to the whole policy.
Health
If you are over 16 travelling anywhere, or under 16 travelling
outside Europe, or any other person on whom the travel plans
depend have ever had treatment for any heart or circulatory
condition, a stroke or high blood pressure, any breathing condition
(including asthma), any type of cancer, any type of diabetes, any
psychological condition, any existing injury or other serious or
re-occurring medical condition, any condition requiring long
term prescribed medication or if you are receiving or awaiting
investigation for any medical condition you must advise Medical
Referral helpline (details are given in the policy) to see if additional
cover is available. Insurers reserve the right to impose terms. You
will receive confirmation in writing of their decision.
Property Claims
These are settled on an indemnity basis - not on a "new for old"
or replacement cost basis.
Policy Limits
Most sections of the policy have limits on the amount the insurer
will pay under that section. Some section also include inner limits
e.g.: for any one item, or for valuables in total.
Computer Failure
All insurers are excluding any claims which relate to the failure of
computers to recognise date changes. Our travel insurance will
provide cover for Medical Expenses and Personal Accident claims
even if these are caused by computer failure..
Reasonable Care
You are required to take all reasonable care to protect yourself and
your property and to act as though you are not insured.
Telling Us about Relevant Facts
You must tell Insurers or ourselves before you travel about anything
which may effect your cover. This information must be complete and
adequate. If you are not sure whether something is relevant you
should tell us anyway. You should keep a record of any information
you give us. If you do not tell Insurers about something that may be
relevant your cover may be refused and Insurers may not cover any
related claims.
Complaints
The Insurance policy includes a Complaints Procedure which tells
you what steps you can take if you wish to make a complaint.
Hazardous Holiday Activities
The policy may not cover you when you take part in certain
hazardous activities e.g.: paragliding.
The contract will be subject to English Law unless otherwise agreed.
Claims and Insurance
For claims and any further information regarding this insurance
please contact:
Fogg Travel Insurance Services Ltd,
Crow Hill Drive,
Mansfield, NG19 7AE.
Tel: +44 (0)1623 631331 Fax: +44 (0) 1623 420450
Policy Excesses
Claims under most sections of the policy will be subject to an
excess. Where there is an excess, you will be responsible for paying
the first part of the claim.

Booking conditions
To Check Availability
Please telephone 01872 272767 during office
hours or contact your travel adviser. At this
stage you will be notified the period of time
that we are willing to hold your holiday
before the booking must be confirmed.
To make a firm booking:
A firm booking is made by completing the
booking form and sending it with the deposits
to: Skitopia, 40 Lemon Street, Truro, Cornwall
TR1 2NS. Skitopia is a trading name of TJM
Travel Ltd. (ABTA V4922 & ATOL 2838), hereinafter referred to as 'The Company', whose
registered office is Lowin House, Tregolls
Road, Truro TR1 2NA and this is who you will
make your contract with. No contract exists
until we have received the deposit and have
issued a booking confirmation. The person
signing the booking form confirms that he/she
is duly authorised to bind all members of
his/her party to the terms of this contract
(each being jointly and severally responsible).
Payments
Deposits: Your tour cost is payable in 2 stages,
unless otherwise indicated on your payment
schedule. First Deposit: This must accompany
your completed and signed booking form.
Balance: A statement will be sent to you at
least 12 weeks before departure. Your final
balance should be sent not later than 10
weeks before departure. Bookings made within 10 weeks of the start of your trip MUST be
paid in full at time of booking. We reserve the
right to consider our contract terminated, by
you, if any payment is late.
Prices
Prices are based on programmes described in
this and other Skitopia brochures and/or our
website skitopia.com. Any requests for variations to advertised programmes will be treated as special requests and as such do not
form part of our contract with you and, therefore, cannot be guaranteed. Our prices are
subject to surcharge as a result of government
action or currency fluctuation as well as
increases in the cost of aviation fuel. In the
case of a surcharge being necessary, the
Company will absorb an amount equivalent to
2% of your tour price. Should the increase in
the price of your tour be more than 10% of
the total cost you will be entitled to cancel
your trip and have refunded to you all monies
paid minus any insurance premiums and
amendment fees. Should you wish to cancel
for this reason you have 14 days after the
issue of our invoice in which to do so. Our
prices were calculated in July 2004 based on
exchange rates supplied by Lloyds TSB Bank
on the 6th July 2004. £1 = 1.49 Euros; £1 =
2.42 Canadian Dollars
Cancellations By You
Cancellations are only accepted when
received in writing, and charges will be made
as follows: More than 12 weeks before departure: loss of all deposits paid or due. Between
4 and 12 weeks before departure: 60% of
total cost to be paid. Less than 4 weeks before
departure: 80% of total cost to be paid. 2
weeks or less before departure: Total invoiced
cost. You may, of course, make a claim on your
insurance if your cancellation comes within
the terms of the policy. Clients who do not
show for their holiday or who are prevented
from travelling by virtue of not having correct
travel documents in their possession (passports, visas, tickets, etc) or prevented from
boarding flights (or other modes of transport)
due to incapacity (drunkenness, medical conditions, etc) or other reasons (aggressive
behaviour etc) will be deemed to have cancelled their holidays at that point. As this cancellation will have been deemed to have been
made 2 weeks or less before departure the
cancellation charge will be the full invoiced
cost. For the avoidance of doubt, it is solely
the responsibility of the client to ensure that
they have the correct documents required to
travel. Please be aware that many flights to
French destinations fly into Italian airports so
clients must be able to enter both countries.
Cancellation or Material Changes
Made By Us
Whilst The Company will endeavour to ensure
that all arrangements satisfy your requirements, nevertheless it may be necessary in
some situations to make alterations particularly if events outside our control dictate. The
Company reserve the right to provide comparable alternative arrangements if operational
or other considerations dictate (this will not
be considered to be a material change), for
example if your chosen Hotel or resort was
not operable for any reason (e.g. lack of snow
in a ski resort) we could substitute a similar
package in another resort. We reserve the
right to move apartment groups into Hotel or
Chalet accommodation at our discretion - this
will not be construed to be a material change
to arrangements. The Company also reserves
the right to upgrade coach groups to air travel, at the discretion of The Company. Any
changes of resort, country, travel arrangements, or programme to facilitate such an
upgrade will not be construed as a material
change. Groups will, therefore, not have the
right to cancel or to compensation in such circumstances. Groups moved to a cheaper holiday will be refunded the difference between
the price they paid and the price quoted in
this brochure. Groups moved to a package
more expensive than the price paid will be
upgraded for free.
If we do have to cancel a booking or if we
make material alterations to any of the
arrangements, we will notify you without
delay and offer you a choice of alternative
arrangements, if they are available, or a
refund of all monies paid. Any such refund will
be sent within 14 clear days. If we make a
material change after the final invoice has
been issued you will be entitled to compensation as follows:
70-35 days before departure: £5 per paying
person 35-15 days before departure: £7 per
paying person 14 days or less before departure: £10 per paying person
We will not cancel your holiday after 2 weeks
before your departure date unless it is necessary to do so as a result of hostilities, political
unrest, industrial disputes or other circumstances amounting to force majeure or any
other cause beyond our control, or unless you
default in payment of your final balance. If we
do have to cancel for these reasons you will
not be entitled to a refund of monies paid,
and in the case of an unpaid balance you
would be liable to cancellation charges.
If You Have a Complaint
If you have a complaint about any service provided by us in resort, this should be reported
immediately to our local representative or
agent in order that action can be taken, where
possible. If a complaint cannot be resolved,
then please follow it up with a letter to The
Company within 28 days of returning from
your holiday, as The Company will not accept
liability in respect of claims received outside
this period. The Company normally manages
to agree an amicable settlement of the few
complaints received, however, in the unlikely
event that an agreed settlement cannot be
reached you may take advantage of the special arbitration scheme as described below.
tions and liabilities as provided by relevant
international conventions. Claims under this
paragraph will be subject to English law.
Further, should any member(s) of your party
suffer illness, injury or death during your trip
arising from an activity that does not form
part of the arrangements made by us, we
shall, where appropriate, give you every help
we can by way of initial assistance up to a
maximum value of £5,000 per booking form.
Arbitration
Disputes arising out of, or in connection with,
the Contract which cannot be amicably settled, may (if the customer so wishes) be
referred to arbitration under a special scheme
which, though devised by arrangements with
the Association of British Travel Agents, is
administered quite independently by the
Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. The scheme
(details of which will be supplied on request)
provides for a simple and inexpensive method
of arbitration on documents alone with
restricted liability on the customer in respect
of costs. The scheme does not apply to claims
for an amount greater than £1,500 per person
or £7,500 per booking form or to claims that
are solely or mainly in respect of physical
injury or illness or the consequences of such
injury or illness.
Liability
(i) The Company is happy to accept full
responsibility for acts and/or omissions of our
employees, agents and suppliers to carrying
out their contracted obligations. (ii) In addition we accept responsibility should the services we have agreed to provide prove deficient or not of a reasonable standard save
that The Company shall not be responsible nor
accept liability for death, bodily injury or illness caused to the signatory to the contract
and/or any member of the group except as
provided in 9 (iii) below. (iii) The Company
shall accept responsibility for negligent acts
and/or omissions by our employees, agents,
suppliers or sub-contractors, while they are
acting within the scope of or in the course of
their duties to The Company. The Company
will deal with claims arising as a result of
death, bodily injury or illness caused to the
signatory to the contract or any bona fide
member of the group. Where the services in
question consist of carriage by air or sea The
Company shall be entitled to limit its obliga-
Responsibility, Supervision,
Behaviour, Damage and Disturbance
In signing the booking form, the party leader
accepts responsibility for the good conduct of
all participants during the visit. For Winter
Sports Groups the party leader guarantees
that all of his party have insurance that covers
the party for winter sports. The party leader
and other adult members of the party are
responsible for the supervision of any minors
in the party and should take steps to prevent
damage to the fabric and equipment of The
Company, site owners, Hotels and coaches
and property belonging to others which is
provided for the party's use during the visit.
The party leader and other adults should
ensure those local residents, other guests; holidaymakers or site owners are not disturbed
by unreasonable behaviour. The Company
reserves the right to exclude any group or
individual form any activity, Hotel or Centre
where that group's or person's actions, in the
opinion of The Company's staff, are not compatible with the safe operation of a given
activity or adversely affect the enjoyment or
privacy of other guests, holidaymakers or
Hotel/Centre personnel. If equipment or property belonging to The Company or suppliers of
The Company is damaged or lost as a result of
unreasonable treatment or behaviour, The
Company reserves the right to make a charge
to make good the damage or loss. The members of the party will be deemed to be jointly
and severally liable for any such damage and,
in certain cases (at the discretion of The
Company), a damage deposit may be taken at
time of issue or occupation. Cases where a
damage deposit is the norm are apartment
based accommodation and for equipment
hire; however, our right to demand a deposit
is not restricted to these two cases.
