SAMBICA Internship Information Sheet
What goes on at SAMBICA when it’s not summer? (Interns are involved in ALL aspects of events.)
SAMBICA’s own programming for youth:
 School’s Out Camps (Spring Break, days off, etc)
 Camp SAM (Wednesday afternoon early release camp)
 Kids Night Out
 Middle School and High School special night events and retreats
Guest Groups:
 Mainly youth-focused groups the we do our own programming and activities for.
 Many adult-oriented guest groups as well.
 We serve them with food, accommodations, programming, and activities.
Special Events:
 Inflatables Zone at Salmon Days festival with 180,000+ people




Christmas Carnival; a free community event with Santa
Hosting or serving youth from inner-city Seattle
Donor Events
Mission Trip – Costa Rica for eight days to run a camp for needy children, along with the
opportunity to apply to spend all of January in Costa Rica serving as part of the summer team at
Campamento Roblealto, near San Jose.
What else does the internship include?





Discipleship – both personal and as a group
One-on-one mentoring
Practical Living – Three units on practical life skills (self-awareness, practical skills, and career
development) covered weekly throughout the year.
Outings – Fun stuff together, enjoying all that this area has to offer. (e.g., camping, hiking, sports
events, day trips, tourist attractions in Seattle, music and cultural events in Seattle, etc.)
Starting with the 2016-17 Internship year, we are part of the Murdoch Foundation’s Vision and Call
Program, connecting us with a network of young ministry leaders and organizations throughout the
west coast. Vision and Call supports the SAMBICA internship financially, provides networking
opportunities to interns, and supports interns both during and after the internship to ensure that
interns have every opportunity to find a path to their calling in ministry.
How much does it cost?

Nothing! In fact, you will be given a place to live in community with each other, much of your food
will be provided, and you will be paid a stipend of $725/month.
How will you spend your time?
A typical week:
 Monday – Time off
 Tuesday – Team meeting, discipleship, work time in a given area of camp
 Wednesday – Plan and run Camp SAM (Wednesday after-school camp)
 Thursday – Work time in an area of camp, Practical Living


Friday – All Team Meal and Devotional, some Work Time
Sat/Sun – A mix of Guest Groups, work time, and time off. You will have most Sunday mornings off
to attend church.
Do we get any time off? Yes!

Almost every Monday is off so that you have a consistent Sabbath day.



Thanksgiving Break Wednesday Nov 25 through Monday Nov 30.
Christmas Break Dec 19 through Jan 2.
You may also use up to 7 vacation days and 2 personal days.

The Internship year is September 1 through May 25

Most interns will choose to stay as part of our Summer Team for the following summer, which
starts in early June.

The first wave of intern hiring for the 2016-17 Internship will take place from now until May 1. The
remaining interns will be selected during the summer. Apply by July 31st for priority
consideration.

