From Vancouver, the Hope, Cascades & Canyons region
is only a short and scenic 1.5 hour drive. The region
extends north to Boston Bar & the Nahatlatch (Highway
#1), west to Bridal Falls/Popkum (Highway #1) and Ruby
Creek (Highway #7), east to Manning Park/Sunshine
Valley (Highway #3) and Coquihalla Summit Recreation

Much of what makes Hope, Cascades & Canyons such
a great place to visit (and live!) used to be known by
“locals only” – without trailhead signage and parking, our
amazing opportunities went undiscovered by visitors in the
past. However, thanks to the tireless efforts of a variety of
volunteer organizations, that is no longer the case. Hope,
Cascades & Canyons is developing its tourism assets at
a fast pace and we are ready to share them.

All roads lead to Hope; as a major highway

help guide your adventures through our

Community Park project was truly a
labour of love and community. The multiyear plan was 80% complete in the first
year thanks to an incredible effort by
many volunteers who call Hope home.

LAKE DAYS ARE UPON US AND HOPE IS
THE PERFECT PLACE TO BE!
Kawkawa Lake
Kawkawa Lake Municipal Park is the
perfect place to spend the afternoon
waterskiing, wake boarding, tubing,
canoeing, kayaking, swimming, or cliffjumping. With a roped off swimming
area, boat launch, and boat-accessible
cliffs, Kawkawa Lake is a family’s dream.
First Beach also boasts a playground,
picnic tables, and washroom facilities
for those spending the whole day on the
water.
Boat rentals are not available, so come
prepared with your gear for a full day
of adventures. Kawkawa Lake is 10
minutes from downtown Hope along
Kawkawa Lake Road. Look for signs on
the left-side of the road once you pass
the cemetery.
Schkam Lake
(Lake of the Woods)
Lake of the Woods is the perfect
swimming and paddling lake in Hope. As
motors are prohibited, it is a quiet place
for beginners to learn how to paddle or
veterans to hone their skills. The small
lake warms up fast, so no need for a wet
suit if you are planning on swimming or
practicing flat water rescue techniques!
Lake of the Woods is sheltered, so it is
also a great place for stand-up paddleboarding.

There is no public boat rental available
(though guests at Lake of the Woods
Resort do have access to equipment),
so come prepared. Lake of the Woods
is 5 minutes north of Hope on Highway 1.

Silver Lake
Quick fact: The Coquihalla is one of the
larger tributaries of the Fraser.
Silver Lake is located in Silver Lake
Provincial Park, 12 kilometres south
of Hope. This is a small, largely
undeveloped lakefront area that offers
spectacular mountain backdrops for
swimmers and paddlers. The lake has
no defined swimming area, wharf, or
dock; there is, however, a small boat
launch, but only electric motors are
permitted. Silver Lake is best on the
Coquihalla River
A day trip on the Coquihalla offers
almost continuous rapids and a unique
perspective on one of the most iconic
moments of the film “Rambo: First
Blood.” The Coquihalla is typically open
to rafting in May and June (depending
on snow pack and river levels), so don’t
delay! The Coquihalla is paddle rafted.

Fear not, the accommodation options in Hope are as endless as
the activities.
Whether you are looking to be pampered or just wanting a clean
place to crash for the night, our hotels, motels and B&Bs are ready
for you.
For the more rugged at heart, Hope also offers excellent camping
options. Riverside and pool-side campgrounds are available for
those looking to beat-the-heat in July and August. Travelling in
the off-season? The majority of our campgrounds are open yearround for the heartiest of campers.

Whether you’re escaping the sun at its peak or watching
it dip below the mountains, patio-dining is the symbol
of sunny summer days and Hope’s feature some of the
most stunning mountain and river views around. More
than half of all Hope’s restaurants offer patio seating,
ranging from fast food to fine dining.
We recommend partaking in all Greece has to offer at
the Olympic Flame, enjoying a Japanese/Korean flavour
experience at the trellised patio at Kim Chi, sitting in awe
of the majesty of mountains at the Owl Street Café, or
discovering how inspiring locally-grown ingredients can
be at 293 Wallace Street Restaurant. And whether you
are a golf enthusiast or not, the patio at Grill on the
Green is the perfect place to enjoy the early afternoon
sun (you may even see some of the resident golf course
marmots!).
We know you have been stopping for years at our
diners and telling friends about the pie – which, we
agree, is amazing - but did you know that Hope also
has an emerging food scene with incredible variety? We
suggest stretching your legs downtown and enjoying
a break before your next adventure at vegan-friendly
Jungle Juice, down-to-earth Sharon’s Deli, or long-time
favourite the Blue Moose Coffee House.
Hope is a town for all seasons and all tastes, so come
enjoy a meal in the sun with us.

If you start looking around and wondering why you don’t live here, you’re not alone.
Hope is more than just a place to play and eat. Thanks to a recent multi-million
dollar infrastructure investment, we have some of the fastest fibre optic internet in
the province. So whether you need to check in with the office before you hit the
trail or want to relocate an at-home business to a more affordable community,
we are ready for you.
Hope is one of the most easily accessible towns in British Columbia. We sit
at the junction of four major highways and our access to the Fraser Valley is
unimpeded by snow throughout the winter.
Four-bedroom homes in Hope are comparably priced (though typically
less expensive) than one-bedroom apartments in Greater Vancouver.
