QUAD valco baby STROLLER PRODUCT REFERENCE GUIDE Thank you for purchasing a quality Valco Baby product. Please read and follow the instructions outlined in this guide carefully. Familiarise yourself with the construction and safety features; be sure that you understand all the warnings and safety guidelines before use. Important: Please read the following instructions carefully before assembling this product. Retain this guide in a safe place for future reference. Due to our policy of continuous product development, this product is constantly evolving. It is possible that some features or procedures outlined here have changed since this document was written. If you are unsure of any procedure shown here, please contact us via the web at info@valco.com.au to obtain the most up to date information before use. Remove the stroller from the carton and dispose of all packaging immediately. The front wheel forks, rear wheels, front bar and hood all need to be installed prior to use. 2. Lay the stroller flat on the floor and carefully cut any cable ties which hold the frame. 3. Lift the handle upward to a vertical position. FIGURE B 4. Lift the front wheel housing upward so that the stroller frame unfolds from beneath. 5. Press down on the basket side locking hinge with your hand or foot (i). 6. Secure the frame closed by swinging the fold latches (located on both sides of the frame) and fully engaging them tightly onto the frame (ii). B IMPORTANT WARNING: ALWAYS TEST THAT ALL LATCHES ARE SECURELY ENGAGED BEFORE USE. i REAR WHEELS FIGURE C C 7. Pressing on it’s centre hub button, insert the Super Quick Release (SQR) axle through the outside of the metal hub in each wheel. IMPORTANT : INSERT THROUGH THE OUTSIDE OF THE WHEEL, THE SIDE WHICH DOES NOT HAVE THE BLACK BRAKE COG PRESS 8. Continue pressing the hub button and insert the protruding long axle into the tube opening at the rear of the stroller chassis; repeat this step for the other side. FIGURE D D 9 9. To remove the rear wheel simply press the button in the centre of the wheel hub and simultaneously pull the wheel outward. If your brakes do not engage, check to see that the nylon brake cogs are on the INSIDE of each wheel when it is attached to the chassis. If not, remove the wheel and SQR axle and re-insert the SQR axle from the other side of the wheel, so that the cog will be on the inside of the wheel. E 13 F THE FRONT BAR FIGURE E 10. Remove the plugs from the nylon housing at either side of the stroller frame by pressing each inner “release button” and pulling the plug upward. (Retain for future use, plugs must be inserted if the bar is removed and the housings are not in use for a Valco Baby approved accessory) 11. Insert the bar ends into the nylon housing located on either side of the frame. Be sure that the bar is securely engaged 12. Adjust the front bar by simultaneously pressing the buttons and swivelling the bar (forward or backward). NEVER use your stroller with the front bar in the lowest position. This position is ONLY for use when folding the stroller! 13. To remove the front bar: Feeling the side of the nylon housing that sits below the frame at each side (facing inward), locate the release “button.” 14. Press the release button inward while simultaneously pushing upward on the bar housing. Repeat for the other side. IMPORTANT WARNING: The front bar IS NOT a restraining device. ALWAYS re-insert the plugs into the housing when there is nothing inserted. FRONT WHEEL FORKS 9 G FIGURE F Your Quad stroller utilises our TRI-MODE™ front swivel system: 15. To install the front fork the selection dial can be in any position, but remember to lock the wheel into the 45° position for removal. 16. Tilt the stroller frame upward on the rear wheels. 17. Insert the fork shaft into the TRI-MODE housing till it “clicks” into place. Repeat for the other wheel. To remove the front wheels: 18. Rotate the TRI-MODE selection dial to the centre (45°) position. 19. Tilt the stroller frame upward on the rear wheels. 20. Press the centre release button. The fork will then be released, pull the forks downward to remove SWIVEL SYSTEM H FIGURE G The TRI-MODE™ swivel system is as flexible as it is functional over a variety of terrains and uses. 21. LOCK: This position is best for use on extremely rough or soft terrain such as sand etc which inhibit wheel swivel. To lock your wheel, rotate the dial to the “LOCK” position. Swivel the wheel around till it locks into position. 22. O: The central position locks the wheel into a tight 45° swivel arc. This provides more stability for use with a toddlerseat or when going down inclines. 23. SWIVEL: This position allows full, unfettered swivel action. IMPORTANT: Always test that the fork is securely engaged in the housing. FOLDING YOUR STROLLER FIGURE H 24. Fold the hood back up against the handle. 25. Release the locking clamps at either side of the stroller. I FOLDING YOUR STROLLER cont’d. FIGURE I 26. Simultaneously lift the secondary safety catch and swing the handle forward. J K L FIGURE J 27. Holding the frame at the rear, press down with your foot on the rear basket tube. This will disengage the basket side hinge locks. 28. Continue pressing on the rear of the basket, moving the rear wheels forward beneath the frame. FIGURE K 29. You can lock the frame closed by stretching the locking strap over the frame, placing the catch over the rivet on the chassis. OPENING YOUR STROLLER FIGURE L 30. To open, unhook the frame locking strap reversing the previous step. 31. Holding on to the side of the footrest, with your foot stopping the rear wheels, lift the handle so that the frame begins to unfold. M OPENING YOUR STROLLER cont’d FIGURE M 32. Press down on the side locking hinges (on the basket) to lock the frame in the open position. 33. Secure the handle to the frame by engaging the locking clamps on both sides. IMPORTANT WARNING: ALWAYS TEST THAT ALL LATCHES AND LOCKS ARE SECURELY ENGAGED BEFORE USE. N SEAT RECLINE Your recline system offers an almost infinite amount of seat adjustments. FIGURE N 34. RECLINE: While squeezing the centre release mechanism in a pincer action, ease the seat down to the desired position. 35. INCLINE: Place your hand in the centre of the rear of the seat. 36. Pull the incline strap while gently pushing on the rear of the seat until the desired position has been reached. O IMPORTANT: ALWAYS TEST that the seat is securely locked in place USING YOUR BRAKES FIGURE O 37. Press the centre toggle down firmly with your foot until you feel the wheels have locked. 38. To release, lift the centre toggle from beneath with your foot. IMPORTANT: ALWAYS TEST that the BRAKE IS FULLY ENGAGED WHEN ACTIVATED P INSTALLING THE expanda HOOD FIGURE P 39. Place the plastic hood housings over the corresponding housing on either side of the stroller frame. 40. Align the straight track on the stroller housing with the corresponding channel in the hood housing. 41. Slide the hood housing downward, engaging the track fully in the hood channel so it fully engages onto the stroller frame. Q R USING THE EXPANDA HOOD FIGURE Q The Expanda hood unzips, increasing the size of your standard hood to give greater coverage and protection from the sun and weather for your child. To open the Expanda Hood: 42. Locate the zip in the center of the Expanda Hood and unzip completely 43. Gently pull the Expanda Hood forward until it is reaches its full extension. To close the Expanda Hood: 44. Gently push the Expanda Hood back, allowing the middle section to fold in on itself. 45. Carefully zip the Expanda Hood closed. IMPORTANT: always take care when closing the expanda hood to avoid the zipper catching on the ENCLOSED fabric using the accessory zip in system FIGURE R Your Expanda hood is fitted with a front accessory zip system which is used with a variety of handy optional accessories these include our Valco 80% UV Zip in Mesh, Valco Rain cover and more S TO ATTACH OR REMOVE THE ACCESSORY: 46. Insert the zip track at the front of the Expanda hood into the zip housing of the accessory. When together, zip the length of the hood. Secure the sides of the accessory to the stroller frame match up the snaps with the corresponding snap mates on the underside of the stroller frame and snap into place. 47. To secure the foot of the accessory to the stroller, pull the elastic foot over the end of the stroller, and use the snaps on the foot tabs to snap to the corresponding snap mates on underside of the stroller frame. Headhugger FIGURE S 48. A head hugger can be purchased as an optional extra. The head hugger is designed to optimise the comfort of newborn babies within the stroller. 49. When your child outgrows the need for a head hugger you can remove the head hugger by unzipping the two zippers on either side of the back rest. Align the buckles with the slits in the rear of the seat to the buckles can be pushed through the slits. Remove the head hugger from the shoulder straps, push the buckles back through the slits to re secure the harness. Zip up both sides of the back rest. T PRESS DOWN HOLD DOWN RELEASE HOLD PUSH RELEASE HOLD USING THE HARNESS Your child MUST always be harnessed while in the stroller. FIGURE T TO OPEN YOUR HARNESS: 50. Push down on both buckle prongs and hold. 51. Simultaneously press the release button in the centre of the buckle. 52. Lift the buckles from the buckle housing. THIS PROCESS MAY BE DIFFICULT AS YOUR BUCKLE SYSTEM HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO MEET VERY STRINGENT SAFETY STANDARDS AND ENSURE THAT A CHILD CANNOT RELEASE THE HARNESS UNAIDED. U CLICK TO SECURE YOUR CHILD IN THE HARNESS: FIGURE U 53. Overlap buckles and so that they fit together to form one complete buckle. 54. Insert the completed buckle into the buckle housing until it engages securely in place. FIGURE V CLICK tether strap 53. Your stroller has been equipped with a safety tether strap. This strap has been designed to always keep your stroller within constant reach. IMPORTANT: Always slip the loop in the strap securely over your wrist whenever a child is in your stroller. WARNING • FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS. • PUT ON ALL THE BRAKES WHENEVER YOU PARK THE PRAM/STROLLER. • DO NOT LEAVE CHILDREN UNATTENDED. • DO NOT CARRY EXTRA CHILDREN OR BAGS ON THIS PRAM/STROLLER. • MAKE SURE CHILDREN ARE CLEAR OF ANY MOVING PARTS IF YOU ADJUST THE PRAM/STROLLER. OTHERWISE THEY MAY BE INJURED. Remember, your child’s safety is your responsibility... • NEVER USE ON stairs or ESCALATORS. • Always use the tether strap when the stroller is in use. • THE CORRECT USE AND MAINTENANCE OF THIS VEHICLE ARE ESSENTIAL. • Be sure that all clamps and buckles are securely fixed and in place before use • When in the stroller, your child must always wear the safety harness, correctly fitted and adjusted, at all times. • The maximum weight of the child for which this stroller was intended is 22 kgs. • The maximum hEIGHT of the child for which this stroller was intended is 106 cm. • Can be used from a newborn baby up to 22kgs. A bassinet or A cocoon, specially designed to be used with a stroller, is recommended when any fully reclining stroller is used with a newborn. • Never run with a newborn baby in any pram or stroller until the child can sit up unassisted (approximately 6 months). • CHECK ALL PARTS BEFORE USE FOR BREAKAGE OR FATIGUE. DISCONTINUE USE IMMEDIATELY IF ANY PART IS FOUND TO BE DAMAGED OR BROKEN. • MAXIMUM LOAD OF BASKETS: 3.5KGS. • ALWAYS be aware of the risks provided by fire and other significant sources of heat such as radiators, etc. which may be in the immediate vicinity of your stroller. • It may be unsafe to use any accessories other than VALCO approved ones. • This product is intended for domestic use only. It is not intended for commercial use. Should the chassis become wet, dry off promptly before storing. If this pram is used near the ocean or salted roads, spray the chassis and seat frame with water and dry. We recommend a rust inhibiting product should be used to prevent rust and fatigue on metal parts. We recommend that you wipe down axles and lubricate the wheels every 3 months. Sand and dirt can grind down axles, if you live near the beach or in a dusty environment you must wipe down the axles and wheels then lubricate them monthly. AXLES ARE BEST LUBRICATED WITH GREASE OR PETROLEUM JELLY. MOVING PARTS ARE BEST LUBRICATED WITH SILICONE BASED PRODUCTS.
