Thanks for the Memories
Thanks for the Memories Especially for “SUMMIT 55” members of the HEBER SPRINGS STATE BANK VOLUME 18 WINTER 2012 What’s Happening It’s been another year of fond memories and I am wondering where the time has gone. I guess what they say is true about time flying when you are having fun. At least that is the theory I am using for the years quickly passing. The fun adventures with the Summit 55 Club are truly fond memories for me and I hope for you also. We have had some great times this past year and I hope that there will be many for you. I realize that not all of you can travel where or when you want because of circumstances but I hope that you are able to join us in one of our activities. Some are longer trips that are more expensive but then we offer smaller day trips that make for a fun outing with friends like you who want to share adventures. Let me know what you like and I will see if I can make it happen for you. Let me take this opportunity to wish you all the most blessed and joyous Christmas season. As I count my blessings for this past year I include you in my list as some of my most cherished memories. You are more to me than just someone to fill up a seat on the bus, you have become my friends. Your pictures fill my computer screens and remind me of our time together and the fun we have had. I hope in the coming year that I will meet many more of my Summit 55 customers and I can add you to my album of friends. NUMBER 1 May this beautiful season fill your hearts with joy and peace and I hope all your Christmas wishes come true. Patti’s Post Scripts August was hot and dry but that didn’t stop us from having a fun time in Louisville, KY where we enjoyed the comedy show with Carl Hurley and Jeanne Robertson. These two very funny humorists entertained us with their down home comedy at two hilarious shows. Louisville of course is known for their horse racing and our trip would not have been complete until we took a tour of the beautiful and famous Churchill Downs. Racing excitement came alive as we watched a video and toured the track; we even ate breakfast at the Back Stretch Café and watched as the ponies were put through their morning workouts. What fun to see these beautiful creatures doing what they do best….RUN! A tour of the Jim Beam Bourbon Outpost, a cruise on the Belle of Louisville and a tour my Old Kentucky Home made this trip one to remember. September was the month that the Summit 55 Club went on the “Big” trip for 2011. The Canadian Rockies by Rail was all that it was advertised plus much more. What a beautiful time of year to be there. The trees were turning brilliant reds, golds and yellows and the views took your breath away. Banff is like a Swiss village tucked away between soaring mountains peaks where you can walk to the downtown area and find cute little shops or fun restaurants. This is where we caught the train that took us to Vancouver. We were treated like royalty as we traveled through some of the most breathtaking scenery in Canada. This, bar none, is one of the best travel destinations around. October was very busy indeed. We just got home from Canada and then had our Annual Luncheon. Our big reveal for the “Big” trip for 2012 was that afternoon. For those who did not attend let me tell you it is Italy. We had a wonderful presentation from Anne Davis from Cruises and Tours Worldwide from St. Louis that made the trip come alive for us that afternoon. We have already signed up all of our allotted seats but hope to have more space open up soon. If you are interested please put your name on the wait list so you will be the first to gain a spot when they become available. Details of this trip are in this newsletter. Also in October we had our Mystery Trip. Three days of fun filled, jammed packed touring. Our destination was Fayetteville, Springdale and Rogers, Arkansas. This northwest corner of our state has so many things to see and do that we only touched the tip. We took a boat ride on beautiful Beaver Lake, went to Walton’s 5 & 10 store and museum, stopped by Crystal Bridges that opened in November of this year. We had Dinner with the Clinton’s (really Bill and Hilary’s home in Fayetteville while he taught up there in the 1960’s), went to museums, saw how the blue bird of happiness is made at Terra Studios, learned history of the area, heard Jazz, ate at amazing restaurants and rode a train. Did I mention while on the train there was a robbery? Two robbers on horseback took our conductor away at gun point; it was all in good fun and made for lots of good pictures. Branson, Missouri was our destination in November and I have to say it was one of our best trips to this music capitol of the Midwest. We started with a wonderful lunch at the Tuscan Tapestry Neighbor’s Mill in Harrison then went to the Starlite Theatre where our afternoon performance was the very talented and also pleasing on the eyes Texas Tenors. What a show they put on! Not only are they three nice looking guys but their voices are simply amazing. We stayed at the theater for dinner and then back to our seats for the evening performance of “A Christmas Snow”. This is a heartwarming story of love and forgiveness that all ages would enjoy. It was a wonderful way to end a perfect day. Tour Highlights Rome – Begin your 2 day discovery of the “eternal city”. Visit the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, Trevi Fountain, the Coliseum plus Rome’s highlights. Spend 2 nights at the Hotel Visconti Palace. The next day we had a leisurely time at Branson Landing for a little shopping time and then we headed to the Sight & Sound Theatre for a private behind the scene tour. Our group got to see first-hand all the work that it takes to put on a production of this magnitude. We even experienced a quick change of costumes as Dolores Hietbrink graciously volunteered to demonstrate the technique for our group. Well let’s just say she was volunteered by our group. But she was a good sport about the whole thing. Tour Includes Round trip airport transfers Round trip air travel from Little Rock, AR Deluxe motor coach transportation in Italy First class hotel accommodations for eight nights Sixteen meals – eight breakfasts, four lunches and four dinners All tour related gratuities including tips for drivers and guides Insurance And so much more…. This amazing destination is one to be long remembered. Pricing available December 2011. After our tour we saw the wonderful and moving story of the Miracle of Christmas. Flying angels, live camels, majestic kings and the story of the birth of Christ all made a beautiful beginning to the holiday season. Thank you to all who joined in on this amazing trip. And thank you to all of my Summit 55 friends who joined me on wonderful and fun trips throughout 2011. May you all have a happy and blessed Holiday Season and I wish you all good health and prosperity in 2012.
