It’s an event that happens twice
a year: the telx Customer Business
Exchange (cbx). It’s designed for
communications’ industry leaders
and telx customers to meet, share
products and services, and close
deals. In the matter of a few
hours, millions of dollars worth
of business is fostered, and local, national, and international
transport, IP and Voice services
are secured.
Marketing madness is left at
the door, and every telx customer,
be they a large PTT or a small
VoIP company, gains access to
a unique, carrier-neutral playing
field, where they can announce
their latest achievements in the
cbx Press Room, or arrange oneon-one meetings with a provider
of their choice, or exhibit on a
floor similar to that of the Stock
Exchange—where people are
actively doing business.
How did the cb begin? tel
believes its business is to grow its
customers’ business. As a result,
this premier, invitation-only networking event is provided as a
telx service to its customers. Two
years ago, the telx team called all
its customers, (about 30 at the
time, today over 150 network
providers) to meet in their New
York City conference room. Each
attendee had a few minutes to
describe their latest product or
service offering to one another
and close deals.
This showcase has now turned
into the cbx exhibit floor and the
HotList on the following pages of
this cbx Show Brochure. Its sole
purpose is to get those with a
network presence at telx the opportunity to foster business.
The cbx is part of the menu of

And now the fun begins.
telx, New York City’s first and
largest core interconnection
facility, is breaking new ground;
the company has just created
a continuous supply & demand
cycle for the entire communications industry.
How? If you are a customer
at telx, you probably already
appreciate how the creation of
the Meet Me Area (MMA) has
streamlined the process of delivering services across multiple
networks. And as an attendee of
the cbx, you can appreciate how
combining the right people in one
room can generate business.
Now telx is enhancing its physical MMA to the next evolutionary

past attendees can attest, people
come ready to do business, to get
business and to leave with business. Together we are forming
the relationships and the revenue
opportunities to grow the communications industry.
This is a targeted room to meet
and close deals with telx customers who have network capacity
available to deliver through telx
to you today.
As a way to support and foster
this networking, we have provided you with the cbx HotList on
the following pages. The HotList
is a unique list of telx partners
and customers, their latest product and service offerings, and
their contact information. Most
of those listed here are on the exhibit floor today, ready to answer
any of your questions and to earn
your business.
We are pleased you have taken

economic groups in Colombia,
which guarantees its affiliates

at the vanguard of the changing

aged Ethernet Service over
SONET/SDH. The Platform
performs integrated switching, grooming, transport, and
restoration services, thereby
reducing costs and optimizing
networks. Its advanced bandwidth management system
supports true “any to any”
cross-connection abilities, and
automated end-to-end service
provisioning.
Easily stated, this Brilliant
PlatformSM just simplified every
service provider’s network,
and now, true transport can
begin.
And just as important as facilitating network interconnections, telx is now facilitating
the people interconnections,
anytime, anywhere.
telx is announcing the ecbxSM, an online networking
and RFP engine that effectively
connects buyers and sellers of
communications services.
Buyers are now able to click
on www.telx.com and select
source routes, rates and ser-
telx spring 2004 customer business exchange
vices directly from carriers available through telx.
Conversely, carriers are now
able to log in and create their
own profile, update their product
line with a click, and gain immediate access to a robust online
communications
marketplace.
So when a buyer submits the
detailed description of needed
IP, Transport or Voice services,
a complete and updated list of
all carriers who can support this
request will be generated.
The buyer then selects with
whom he/she wishes to send a
Request for Proposal, and within
seconds, sends the request to
qualified carrier representatives.
Sellers now have access to
more educated leads and quicker
time to market. Buyers now have
access to an easy turnaround
time for much-needed services,
and competitive pricing. Combine this with the Platform’s
bandwidth management, switching, grooming and provisioning,
and the industry is now primed
and ready for next-generation
technology. Bring it on.

Introducing WilTel’s AwardWinning EWAN Service
WilTel’s award-winning* EWAN
service is a point-to-point and
point-to-multipoint Layer 2 technology providing transparent Ethernet
transport and bridging functionality
primarily for wide area networks
(WANs). This transport service is a
low-cost replacement or alternative
to Layer 1 SONET infrastructure.
Because EWAN is Ethernet-based,
it gives you the advantage of one
system that your IT staff already
knows, readily accepts, and can
effectively and efficiently manage
in-house.
In fact, Ethernet can be managed
by a LAN manager rather than a
costly, extensive IT staff. Small and
medium-sized businesses can migrate to a higher bandwidth WAN
without the expense of a large IT
staff. With EWAN, your existing IT
staff is free to focus on applications, intranets, extranets, and more
complex networking challenges. It’s
that simple.
EWAN leverages multiple transport technologies to integrate with
traditional services such as ATM,
frame relay, dedicated Internet ac16
cess (DIA) and IP VPN.
This enables customers to have
Ethernet ports with multiple connections. Customers can also use
EWAN to access our award-winning
IP network for connectivity to DIA
and IP VPN services. By providing
an end-to-end transport service
with multiple options, WilTel offers
customers one-stop-shopping for all
their network needs.
EWAN can scale to meet your
needs, providing the speed of service you need without continuously
investing in hardware upgrades. Our
customers can begin with relatively
low-speed connections and grow
over time in large or small increments. We offer point-to-point and
point-to-multipoint service in granular increments up to 1,000 Mbps.

WilTel’s EWAN service, visit

or call 631-567-2606.
* WilTel’s EWAN service won runnerup in the 2003 SUPERQuest Awards
for best backbone/core network.

of contact for all their local loop
needs.
With one interconnection, International Carriers can quickly and

any given time.
The Last Mile team then manages the entire process: from
contracts and negotiations to
