NEWS: mid-May to mid-June 2014 All three lakes are producing many specimens and during the past 31 days, since the 14th May, 8 x 20lbs+ Carp and 82 x 30lbs+ Catfish including 19 x 40lbs+ up to 46lbs 12ozs have been landed and safely returned – the latter caught by Tony Payne. Also see the 6 x 24 hour Moggie session summary that resulted in approximately 4,787lbs for James and Jonathan Archer plus Tom Jobling. A rolling 6 months view (updated on the 1st of each month) of available Fishing and Apartments can be seen via the SWIM and APARTMENT AVAILABILITY tab. This section now has a new format covering October and November for your comments which are welcomed. 2014 and 2015 Bookings • Today you can book your 2014 (3, 4 or 7 night) and/or 2015 (7 night) dates for an Apartment plus fishing on your preferred Lake(s). Present 2014 “Charges” will apply to 2015 Bookings until further notice. • 2014 Night Members can make Day Fishing bookings (with or without Night fishing) up to 6 months ahead (email to mikemmorrison@btinternet.com preferred but not essential). All bookings to include a valid 2014 Night Membership number for each angler in their group. A “2014 Night Membership” application form is available via this web site. • All anglers can make Day Fishing bookings up to 5 months ahead. Report for mid-May to mid-June 2014 Lake 1 (Carp) • Arriving on the 15th May Neil Murphy was amongst the Bream with seven to 4lbs plus a 10lbs Mirror while Mark Huettinger had a 4lbs Bream plus a 22lbs Common. • Returning on the 15th May for a 24 hour session Jon Butler landed Mirrors of 23lbs and 18lbs plus a 17lbs Common. • During difficult conditions on the 16th May Darren Sales and Andrew Jarvis had Commons of 13lbs and 9lbs. • Visiting on the 17th May, Mick Austin landed Commons of 11lbs and 24lbs when luncheon meat was the successful bait. • Tyla Reeves-Vane smashed his PB with a 20lbs 1oz Common on the 17th May plus another of 15lbs 4ozs. • On the 24th May Dee Patel used tutti frutti mini pop ups to lure a 20lbs 1oz Common plus Bream of 5lbs 8ozs and 4lbs. • Using a mesh bag and boilie bait on the 31st May resulted in a 12lbs Mirror and two sizeable Bream for Jon Dighton. • Arriving on the 2nd June for a 36 hour session Jason Tuckey had Carp of 11lbs, 14lbs and 21lbs (Mirror) using a PVA bag and breadcrumb/Cel boilie. • During his visit on the 11th June George Stych increased his Mirror PB to 22lbs 8ozs and his catch also included a 15lbs Common with both caught using 16mm halibut pellet. • Arriving on the 13th June for a 24 hour session Ian Henderson and son Liam landed 6 x Carp between 10 and 15lbs. • Returning on the 14th June Mark Huettinger landed 5 x Carp to 19lbs 10ozs plus 5 x Bream while Neil Murphy had a 13lbs 8ozs Carp and two Bream. • Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish) • Using luncheon meat on the 15th and 16th May produced 3 x Cats to a PB 36lbs plus a 13lbs Common while son Shaun had 6 x Cats to 37lbs. • Luke Walshaw, using halibut pellet, landed 3 x “20’s” Cats of 23lbs 8ozs, 22lbs 5ozs and 21lbs 8ozs on the 17th May. • It was a double PB on the 17th May when Tracy Cox using worm caught a 21lbs 6ozs PB Cat and Tony Payne using halibut pellet raised his Moggie PB to 46lbs 12ozs. • Arriving on the 17th May for a 60 hour session produced new PB’s for both Tim Noble and Robin Moyser: Tim Noble Robin Moyser • • 40lbs 8ozs PB, 39lbs, 38lbs 8ozs, 25lbs, 22lbs, 18lbs, 15lbs 42lbs 8ozs PB, 41lbs, 35lbs 8ozs, 35lbs, 32lbs, 30lbs 8ozs, 26lbs, 22lbs, 20lbs, 18lbs Graham Cheyne increased his Cat PB to 38lbs on the 19th May with a catch including additional Moggies of 28lbs, 20lbs and 16lbs. Using “Fish Paste” during a 24 hour session beginning the 19th May, Simon Cope raised his Lake 2 Cat PB to 43lbs 12ozs with a catch of 9 x Moggies including others of 33lbs and 28lbs. • • Ted Mahoney returned on the 20th May and landed 9 x Cats to 36lbs when halibut pellet and liver boilies were the successful baits. Returning on the 21st May for a “Day” session produced a PB for Shane Bullen while his colleagues were also finding the Cats feeding: Shane Bullen Paul Hutchinson Charlie Cannings • • Dave Constantine and Dave Bristow collectively broke their PB’s three times on the 22nd May. Luncheon meat secured Cats of 30lbs PB and then 33lbs PB together with Cats of 27lbs, 24lbs and 16lbs plus a 18lbs Mirror and 17lbs 12ozs Common for Bruce while Dave landed Cats of 44lbs PB and 10lbs with halibut pellet being the successful bait. PB’s were broken three times when Edward Vandome, Richard Winter and Jamie Collins arrived on the 23rd May for a 36 hour session catching a total of 703lbs. At 4.30am on the 24th, Edward caught a 42lbs PB Cat on luncheon meat and halibut pellet: Richard Winter Jamie Collins Edward Vandome • • • • • • • • Catfish 41lbs 11ozs, 40lbs 6ozs, 2 x 30lbs+, 7 x 20lbs+ and 11 under 20lbs 44lbs, 11 x 30lbs+, 74 x 20lbs+ and 11 under 20lbs 42lbs 1oz, 10 x 30lbs+, 40 x 20lbs+ and 25 under 20lbs Carp 3 Approx. Total Weight 426lbs 6 2,534lbs 4 1,827lbs On the 31st May, Andy Harland raised his Cat PB to 29lbs using PVA bags and halibut pellet plus a 14lbs Mirror and 5lbs Common on boilies while his son Ashley landed Cats of 31lbs, and 28lbs. Mick Rogers raised his Cat PB to 41lbs on 1st June and added a 17lbs 1oz Mirror and 15lbs Common to his catch while Alan Rogers had a 17lbs 8ozs Mirror and a 16lbs 2ozs Common. Arriving on the 31st May for a 6 day/night session, Matt Phipps and Paul Harris landed 61 fish weighing in total 1031lbs consisting of 44 x Cats (including a 39lbs PB for Paul and a 32lbs PB for Matt together with an additional 4 x “30’s” ) plus 17 x Carp to 18lbs all on halibut pellet and pop-ups. Visiting for a 36 hour session starting 5th June produced 5 x Cats to 37lbs 5ozs plus 3 x Commons to 16lbs 6ozs for Gary Vaughan and 2 x Cats to 23lbs 12ozs plus 2 x Commons to 11lbs for Gary Constable who gallantly also assisted a neighbouring angler to rescue a tethered Moggie by wading to a depth of five feet – much appreciated by everyone including the Moggie!! Using halibut pellet it was PB’s all the way for Adrian Hodges (arriving 4th June for 3 days) and Marc Lyphout (fishing from 2nd June for 5 days): Adrian Hodges Marc Lyphout • 33lbs PB, 31lbs (x3), 28lbs, 27lbs, 26lbs (x3), 25lbs (x2), 24lbs, 20lbs, 17lbs, 15lbs 8ozs (385lbs 8ozs) 39lbs PB, 33lbs, 27lbs, 26lbs, 24lbs, 20lbs, 12lbs (181lbs) 42lbs PB, 34lbs, 24lbs, 19lbs 8ozs, 17lbs (136lbs 8ozs) Travelling from Derby, James and Jonathan Archer together with Tom Jobling arrived on the 24th May for their annual 6 x 24 hour Moggie session with spectacular results. Using halibut pellet and luncheon meat their total catch weighed approximately 4,787lbs. Beginning a six day session on the 8th June saw Judi Swatland and Steve Hyder amongst the Cats and Carp when Judi raising her Cat PB to 40lbs 4ozs with a catch of 10 more Moggies to 23lbs 12ozs plus 6 x Commons to 14lbs 8ozs and 4 x Mirrors to 16lbs 8ozs. Steve landed 22 x Cats including 37lbs 4ozs and 32lbs 12ozs plus 5 x Commons to 13lbs 8ozs and 2 x Mirrors to 12lbs. Malcolm Phillips landed two Cats on the 14th June and raised his Carp PB to 18lbs. On the 14th June Paul Hutchinson landed 8 x Cats including 4 x “20’s” to 23lbs 12ozs while colleague Malcolm Phillips also landed 8 x Cats including a 30lbs 8ozs PB and 2 x “20’s” to 24lbs 4ozs. Lake 3 (Mixed) • Returning on the 18th May the Battle Maggot Drowners AC fished in glorious weather and the winning weights were: o 1st Graham Noble with 16lbs consisting of Bream and Carp o 2nd Andy Ashcroft with 13lbs consisting of Carp o 3rd Luke Marsh with 6lbs 4ozs consisting of Carp • Returning on the 1st June the Lydd AC fished in glorious weather and the winning weights were: o 1st Shelly Knowles with 39lbs 12ozs consisting of Carp plus two Bream to 3lbs all on double worm o 2nd Bob Turner with 33lbs 15ozs consisting of Carp, Roach and small skimmers o 3rd Dave ?? with 27lbs 9ozs consisting of Carp, Roach and small skimmers • Visiting on the 6th June Peter Bennett and Tracey had 6 x Carp to 7lbs, 3 x Bream to 5lbs and a 1lb 8ozs Roach. • Using sweetcorn and prawns on the 9th June, Paul Wharton’s catch included 3 x Carp to 8lbs and 2 x Tench to 4lbs plus numerous Perch. • Fred Rosier had success with the Carp on the 10th June with 6 x Commons to 5lbs 2ozs and two Mirrors to 5lbs. • Returning on the 13th June saw Richard Read having a good mixed bag including 17 x Carp to 5lbs, 2 x Tench plus a Bream. Left – A Lake 3 (Mixed) 8lbs 4ozs Mirror and Right – A 5lbs 5ozs Bream both from Lake 3 for Philip Stringer during a 4-day break beginning the 12th May. Left – A Common of 20lbs 1oz for Tyla Reeves-Vane to smash his PB on the 17th May. Right – Bruce Constantine on the 22nd May with a 18lbs Mirror. Left – Bruce Constantine on the 22nd May with his 33lbs PB Cat. Right – Dave Bristow on the 22nd May with his 44lbs PB Cat. Left – 24th May and a 42lbs PB Cat for Edward Vandome. Feedback It is our intention to continue adding improvements to the Fishery and your comments are always appreciated – see the ABOUT US tab for sending “Feedback”. 2014 Leader Board The 2014 Leader Board competition commenced on Saturday 8th March and prizes will be awarded for the following specimens caught by Sunday 9th November 2014: • £50.00 for the first verified 50lbs+ Catfish • £50.00 for the first verified 30lbs+ Carp • £50.00 for the first verified 8lbs+ Tench In the event these “Target weights” are not met the prizes above will be awarded for the heaviest verified Carp, Catfish and Tench specimens recorded in the Cabin Log Book by Sunday 9th November 2014.
