TASOK Home of the Condors TASOK Home of the Condors April 3rd, 2015 HIGH SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS Dear High School Parents, It is hard to believe, but our 3rd Quarter is coming to a conclusion. Your student’s Quarter 3 Progress Reports will go home via homerooms on Friday, April 10th. We ask that you sign your student’s progress report and return it to your student’s homeroom teacher the following Monday (April 13th). Honoring this timeline will help us make our Parent Conferences on Tuesday, April 14th all the more meaningful, as teachers will be assured that parents are upto-date regarding their student’s academic progress. In turn, parent-teacher discussions at the parent conferences can be focused and meaningful for you. TASOK High School Parent Conferences will take place in the TASOK Auditorium, between 12:15PM --3:30PM. During this time, all teachers will be available to connect with parents in a less formal, open format. In advance of our parent conferences, I wanted to share with you some great advice for parents from greatschools.org. “A good relationship with your child’s teachers will make it easier for you to work together if problems arise during the year. Your child's teacher can also help you understand what your child experiences every day and inform you about her schoolwork and responsibilities.” Parent conferences are an excellent opportunity to build upon the relationships you have with your student’s teachers! And, in preparation for a meeting with a teacher about your child’s progress, greatschools.org recommends parents to consider posing these types of questions: How has my child performed in your class so far this year? What skills and knowledge is my child learning in your class? Will my child complete any major projects or term papers before the end of the school year? How do you determine grades on assignments? How do you determine her/his overall grade for the class? How can I help my child succeed in your class? TASOK High School teachers thoroughly enjoy serving your student(s). The entire high school team looks forward to connecting with parents on Tuesday, April 14th. All the best , Dr. Steve Charbonneau TASOK Home of the Condors SAT & Subject Test Information for TASOK Students Success on the SAT and other standardized tests is important for college admissions. TASOK juniors are expected to take the SAT once before their senior year. Students who take an SAT prep course are advised to take the SAT upon completing the course. SAT Subject Tests should be taken soon after completing coursework in that area to demonstrate strength in a particular subject. TASOK is an official SAT and SAT Subject testing center. Students register online by going to http://sat.org/international. Click on ”Register” and follow the instructions. Note that registration can take 20-30 minutes, and requires the student’s input. To find the test center, search for TASOK under “Congo,” not “Congo, The Democratic Republic of The.” Alternatively, you can search using the test center id, 80334. When registering the student, you must identify the current high school attended. You can find TASOK by searching under “Santa Fe, NM” or using the high school code 611000. Test dates are below. Note that TASOK tests on the SATURDAY dates and the March test date is not offered internationally TASOK Home of the Condors April 3rd, 2015 Middle SCHOOL Andalib demonstrates Middle School Technology Emmanuel demonstrates 6th Grade iPad users met to discuss how they use their iPads at home. Students in elementary school are participating in seventeen different activities. First time activities include IXL Math Club, Basketball Skills and Technique, Ping Pong, Condor Connect, Arts & Crafts, and Little Chefs Cooking Club. This year, we have been very pleased to include Kindergarten students in the ASA program as well. Each trimester, activities for elementary school students have increased offering more opportunities for student choice based on interests. This would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our teachers and community volunteers.
