Unconditional love is
right around the corner all you have to do is adopt
a shelter puppy! My name
is Lindsay and I’m an
8-week-old Poodle mix
girl. That’s me on the
cover of this magazine.
I’m what you call the
‘runt’ of the litter as I’m
considerably smaller than
my littermates. Speaking
of them, that’s my brother,
Alexander, in the middle.
He has a mostly white
face. At bottom is my
other brother, Russell.
We are three precious
pups who were part of an
unplanned litter. We are
all healthy, happy and
friendly babies who love to
be kissed, cuddled and
caressed by humans. If
you’d like to give one of us
a loving home, please call
Pender Humane Society
at 910-259-7022. Our
thanks go to Dick Parrott
for taking our rose-filled
portraits. There’s just
nothing cuter than a
puppy’s belly, is there?
If you’d like to meet us,
hurry on over!

My name
is Callie.
I am a Lab
Retriever
Mix. I was
surrendered to
Coastal
Animal
Rescue
Effort
(C.A.R.E.)
because I
was suspected to
have Distemper.
With the
help of the C.A.R.E. volunteers I am all better now and full of
energy. I get along great with other dogs and people. I am
not sure about cats since I have not been exposed to them.
I aim to please and have learned simple commands already.
Could my forever home be with you? If you are interested in
adopting me, call 910-256-2624. Don't forget to like Coastal
Animal Rescue Effort on Facebook for updates on me.
I am sponsored by Atlantic Animal Hospital who
supports Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.).

My name is
Tippy and I
am an adorable Maine
Coon mix
who is just
6-monthsold. I am a
friendly little
girl and so
incredibly
sweet. I do
really well
with cats,
dogs and
probably
most kids,
too. I rub up
against your
feet with the
hope that you will reach down and pet me. I have long,
luxurious, soft fur that just melts in your fingers. I am
homeless because my owner died. Will you adopt me and
make me yours forever? If you would like to know more
about me, call Adopt-An-ANGEL at 910-392-0557. You
can visit us at www.adoptanangel.net for more details.
I am sponsored by Perry Davis. Thank you!
My name is Boo Boo
and I am putting the
“SPECIAL” in special
needs! I sure wish I
could talk! People have
asked how I got all my
“boo-boos” and I would
be glad to tell them! All
of my ailments come
from the puppy mill
where I was forced to
live. Where I should
have had fur, I had pink,
scabby skin (allergies). Where I needed back legs to get
me around, I have atrophied back legs that give out easily.
After a short walk, they just can’t handle it. Where I need
eyes to help me navigate my way around the world, I have
only one ulcerated eye. Despite it all, I am content and
friendly and love everyone I meet (humans say this is typical
of neglected dogs). I want to cuddle up and watch old
“Andy of Mayberry” reruns and eat nutritious food and love
you unconditionally. And security. I need to know that you
will care for me forever and ever and that my life will never
be so hard again. I am a Lhapso Apsa mix, estimated to be
6-years-old. I weigh about 15 pounds, I have been spayed,
my shots are up to date, and yeah, calling me “special”
might be an understatement, but for someone, I am JUST
RIGHT. Please contact the foster humans at Columbus
Humane Society by emailing jdw7512@yahoo.com or
calling 910-619-3015.
I am sponsored by Top Toad in the Cotton Exchange in

URGENT, URGENT!
My Time Is
Running Out!
I’m a well-behaved and
loving girl! How can it be
that my time is dwindling?
My name is Ginger
(A011112) and I’m a 10month-old Brittany Spaniel
mix. My friends at the
shelter put a coat on me
because I’m living in an
outdoor kennel and it’s
wintertime! If that doesn’t
get you running over here,
let me tell you more about
myself: I was found as a
stray, but it appears as though someone once loved me. I
am friendly to everyone and I sit on command like a champ.
I passed a temperament test with flying colors, which
basically means that they exposed me to lots of stuff to see
if anything made me aggressive (such as food, toys, cats
and other dogs), but I just wagged my tail the whole time.
When I go to my kennel, I walk right in and sit down - I don’t
try to run out. The kennel workers really appreciate my
calm, intelligent nature. I’m made to be someone’s beloved
friend - not a forgotten one in a shelter. Would you please
come adopt me? For driving directions or more information,
please call Pender County Animal Shelter at 910-259-1484
or email jhorton@pendercountync.gov.
I am sponsored in honor of Kathleen M. Langone.
Adopt-An-ANGEL
Please call 910-392-0557 to adopt us!
►Hi, I'm Saint.
Don't you just love my
smile? I am a sweet
boy who may be a
little shy at first, but I
warm up quickly. It
usually only takes a
scratch on the head,
and we are best of
friends!! I get along
well with my doggie
friends, too, and I’m
good on a leash. I
am house-trained and
healthy. In this picture I am looking up
to Heaven above and praying, “Dear God, please send my
family to me. If you do I promise to protect them forever.”
◄My name is Frankie
and I was turned in to
Animal Control as a stray.
My collar was embedded
into my neck and had to
be surgically removed.
After 50 stitches and
some TLC, I am now
ready for a GOOD home
this time around. I am
energetic and playful, but
eager to please, too. I
respond well to correction
and firm leadership, and
will thrive in a good home
- that I am sure of. I do well with kids and dogs, but could
be too much for a cat. I am mid-sized at approximately 40
to 50 pounds and I’m crate-trained.
►My name is Ladybug
and I am an agile, energetic, fun girl who thinks
life is a party! If you are
an active family, then I
am your girl. I am very
sweet, eager to please
and super smart. I do
well with other dogs with
a slow introduction because I am an alpha
female. I have been
trained to walk on a
treadmill so if you don't
have time to walk me, you can walk me on a treadmill. If
you don't have one and want one, the group will throw mine
in with my adoption. I have been homeless for quite some
time so I certainly have earned my chance at a forever family. I am spayed, up to date on my shots and even heartworm negative. Look how cute my ears are in this picture!
◄My name is sweet
Joseph and I am
such a gentle boy. I
am a 1 to 2-year-old
Hound mix who
loves other dogs and
I don’t seem to have
any interest in cats.
I have a moderate
energy level and
love to be with you. I am quiet and I don’t bark much. I am
really a great boy and would do great with kids. I may seem
kind of shy at first but I will warm up quickly. I get so happy
to see you that my ears go back, I wag my tail and stomp
my front feet. I am neutered, heartworm negative, cratetrained, and am learning to walk on a leash.
◄Hello, my name is Belle.
I am a 5-year-old Labrador
and Pitbull mix, who came
to Adopt-An-ANGEL via
R.A.C.E. They had come
across a group of 18 dogs
and puppies who were
living at a junk yard on a
dead end road in Southport 3-years ago. Over the
last 3-years, they have been able to spay/neuter and find
homes for most of them and the group of dogs is now down
to just four. I am one of these last four dogs. R.A.C.E. had
even erected a group of volunteers who provided daily food
and socialization to us until foster placement could be
found. Several weeks ago at their daily feeding, one of the
R.A.C.E. volunteers found that I could no longer see. They
took me to a vet for immediate treatment and when it became clear that my eyesight would probably not return, they
contacted Adopt-An-ANGEL to see if they could place me in
a foster home. In spite of my background as a junk yard
dog, I have taken to indoor living. I am very friendly and
gentle around people, enjoy spending my days napping on
a soft dog bed and have even learned to play with some
dog toys. I am already house-trained and partially cratetrained. I have learned "sit" and am learning to walk nicely
on a leash. I don’t appear to be completely blind, but I can't
find my way in unfamiliar areas. I am making good progress in adjusting to my new condition. I am still taking
medication for my eyes, and have started my heartworm
treatment. I am a surprisingly friendly and well-behaved
dog considering my background. I will make someone a
wonderful pet, but that someone needs to have experience
with large, strong dogs to help me smooth out a few rough
edges. I am accepting applications for a family who will
appreciate me for the gem I am. I am so special that two
different organizations and a team of volunteers came together to help me. Certainly there is just ONE special person out there who will step up and complete this rescue. All
that is needed for a happy ending is YOU! Would you be
willing to adopt a vision impaired dog?

Hello there, my name
is Pepper. I have a
sad story to tell you,
but I’m sure one day
the ending will be a
happy one! You see, I
was found abandoned
in a ditch in Hampstead. When I got to
the vet’s office, they
discovered that I am
also blind and heartworm positive. But
wait! Just like they
say, there is a silver
lining to every cloud.
Mine is that I can still
see shadows, and I
have a sponsor who is
willing to pay for my heartworm treatment. I can walk
around just fine, and I tilt my head in order to see better
and sense what’s around me. I would love to have a foster
home where I can have peace and quiet during my recovery from the heartworm treatment. I am a very sweet boy
who absolutely loves all people. I do well with other dogs
too, as long as we are introduced slowly. I am young, between 12 and 18-months-old, and I weigh 40 pounds.
Please contact Pender Humane Society if you can offer me
a temporary home - or, even better, if you are interested in
adoption! Their number is 910-259-7022.

Cats ~ Dogs
Rambunctious,
curious, and VERY
loving, but not your
typical Beagles is
how people describe
us. We are Helen
and Keller and we
were saved from our
former neglectful life.
We have been
evaluated by an eye
specialist and my
eyes (I’m Helen) are
now normal, but
Keller is partially
blind. Both of us are
healthy, spayed and
just waiting for that
right family. We
would love to be your lap dogs! It would be great if we
could be adopted together. Come visit us at Paw’s Place
and see what diamonds we are! You can drop by any day
from 9 – Noon. You can also call the shelter for more information at 910-845-7297.
We are sponsored by State Farm Rob Cutting Agency

Hi there! I'm
Taffy and I'm
so happy to
meet you. I
was rescued
from a shelter
where I was
running out of
time and am
looking for a
loving new
home. I am
shy at first but
very sweet and
loving once I
get to know
you. I'm probably best when I'm the only cat in your home. I love being
the apple of your eye and promise loving devotion and a
purr in your lap for the rest of my life. Come to Petsmart in
Wilmington to meet me. Give me a few minutes of your
time and you'll fall in love. You can also call Cat Adoption

Although
the President of
Cat Tails
is named
Trish,
there is
no resemblance.
First of
all, I am
young,
she is old, I am black, she is white, I am
sweet… well, we won’t go there. Can’t
afford to tick the boss off if you know
what I mean. I am only 7-months young
and probably the most affectionate cat
you’ll ever pick up. I have already been
spayed and I’m current on vaccinations.
I grew up around pups and didn’t mind
those either. So if you want the world’s
greatest cat, let’s get together. Please
call Cat Tails at 910-253-1375.
I am Sadie,
the most
wonderful pet
ever according to my
foster mom.
I am a 20
pound, small
mix breed,
maybe
Dachshund or
Terrier. I was rescued on a cold January
night. My 10-week-old pups and I had no
food, no water and no shelter. I am
house-trained and quiet, I love the other
dogs in the house, I love to play and walk
on a leash, I am crate-trained (although I
don't need one) and I am fully vetted. I
have heartworms but R.A.C.E. will pay for
a year of the slow kill method. To sum it
all up, I am a turn key dog. Call R.A.C.E.
at 910-547-2839 or visit raceshelter.org if
you would like to adopt me.
Hi, how have you been? I
am fine although a little sad
because I was adopted and
returned through no fault of
my own. It just didn’t work
out. I know you must be
thinking I look a little familiar...I was the cover model
for the December issue of
PawPrints Magazine. In
case you don’t remember my
story - My name is Leo and I
was thrown out like the
trash. A very wonderful lady
rescued me and took me to
R.A.C.E. I was born without
my eyes (probably due to
poor care and lack of nutrition given to my mother) but
I’m not going to let that stop
me - I’m still looking for love!
I am very sweet and loving, I
love car rides and I crave
being held. I could stay in
your lap all day if you’d let
me. I do need to be the only
dog as I want all your love
and attention. Please come
and get me. If you want to
see me, please call R.A.C.E. at 910-547-2839, visit us at
raceshelter.org or like us on Facebook at R.A.C.E. Inc.
I am sponsored by Pine Valley Animal Hospital.
Hi, my name is
Caine and I am
an 11-year-old
American Bulldog. Please
don't stop reading this because of my
age - I have a
story to tell
you! You see,
my daddy who
has had me
since I was a
baby was diagnosed with
cancer and he
had to go live
with his daughter. She has cats, and since I have never
grown up with any other pets, sharing a home with them
was just not ideal for me. Thankfully, after hearing my
story, Pender Perfect Pets took me in. My foster mommy
describes me as a pure and beautiful gem and a gentle
soul. I absolutely love people and all I want to do is be by
someone’s side. I am house-trained and I don't even have
to go into a crate when you’re not home. I know I am a little
bit older, but I promise my loyalty, playfulness and spirit will
make you forget all about my age. After all, age is just a
number! Please call my foster mommy at 910-538-0106. I
will make someone the most wonderful companion.
I am sponsored by PawPrints Magazine in memory of
Deb Rye, shelter manager of Pender Humane Society.
Do you like the
smooth classic
taste of Cola? If
you do, then you
will just love me!
My name is Cola
and I’m a 2-yearold male Chocolate Lab the color
of, well, Cola with
white paws and
chest...so maybe
I’m a Cola-Vanilla!
Either way, I’m
one lucky dog!
I was adopted
twice from the
shelter only to be
returned because
I didn’t have anyone who loved me enough to teach me how to behave.
That’s not a problem anymore. The great folks at Monty’s
Home have fixed all that! I’ve learned so much already.
Now I just need you to come meet and fall in love with the
classic smooth pup named Cola! To find out how,
please call Monty’s Home at 910-297-1338 or email
adopt@montyshome.org. An application can be
submitted at www.montyshome.org.

and they’re trying to find me a really good home. Here’s
what they have learned – I am a Beagle mix, about 40
pounds, up to date on shots and, except for a little excess
weight, healthy. They also learned that I know my basic
commands, like ‘sit’ and ‘down’. So if you are looking for a
walking buddy to fulfill your New Year’s resolution to get
more exercise, I may be your dog! My address is Paw’s

a kitty who loves to snuggle and be brushed. My
favorite thing in the world

snooze a little more. I
just might be the most
laid-back cat you’ll ever
meet. And yes, I’m already spayed, vaccinated
and litterbox-trained.
Won’t you please take

My name is Shadow.
I'm a 5-year-old loveable and gentle lady
cat. I love attention
and enjoy snuggling.
I'm also curious and
spunky. Do you have
any toys for me to play
with? I get along with
other cats, mostly
males, but I tend to shy
away from dominant

to meet me? I'm a total sweetheart. Come visit me at

▲Hi! My name is Hannah. My two kittens, Simon and
Polka, have been adopted and now I’m ready for a loving
family of my own! I'm shy around new people but give me a
chance, once I get to know you, I will love you generously.

◄Hi! I’m Tyson.
I’m a very sweet,
gentle, loving boy
who enjoys playtime and sleeping
in bed with my
peeps. I LOVE to
cuddle in the
morning. My most
favorite toy is a
straw or the red
dot! I’m neutered,
vaccinated and
ready to find that
dot at your house.

Hi there! I’m a
very handsome
boy named
Blue. I’m around
2-years-old and
I’m a Husky mix.
I’m a super-sweet
dog who was
found as a stray.
Unfortunately, at
my vet visit, it was
discovered that I
am positive for
heartworm and
Lyme disease. I
am presently undergoing heartworm treatment and any donations toward my care would
be greatly appreciated! You can make a donation via
PayPal on the Sunburst Foundation’s website at
www.sunburstfoundationofwilmington.org, or through direct
mail to Sunburst Foundation, P.O. Box 10118, Wilmington,
NC 28404. Please state that your donation is for me,
Blue. Thank you so much for helping me! You can also

I am sponsored in loving memory of Hank Harrington.

I'm Kahlua, a 6 to 7-year-old

Hi everyone. My
name is Abby
and I'm 5½-years
-old. I'm spayed,
I’m up to date on
all meds and vaccinations, I’m
heartworm negative and I’m even
house-trained.
I don’t really care
for those things
humans call
crates and I like
to escape from
them. I can also
escape from low
fences so I need
a home with a
6-foot privacy
fence or better. I have my Canine Good Citizenship AND
I'm also a Certified Therapy Dog! Pretty impressive, huh.

►“Amazing Grace,
how sweet the sound,
that saved a wretch
like me. I once was lost
but now am found”…
so now that I’m found
come visit and take me
home. I don’t want to
be lost again! I am a
5-year-old, beautiful,
long-haired, black and
white kitty and for
4-years I had a great
home. But times change and here I am looking again. I am
very sweet (how could I be anything else with such an angelic name) and I get along with everyone and all cats!
◄If you saw Bill and
Ted’s Excellent Adventure, then I don’t
need to tell you anything about myself.
You know I am
crazy, funny, happy,
and loving. And if
you don’t adopt me,
I’ll get sent to
Alaska! That sounds
too cold for me. If I
could just find that
time-traveling machine, I would travel
right over to your
house! I am a 10-month-old, gray Tabby boy who is very tall
and handsome. Of course I get along well with all of the
cats, but best of all I hang out near the front window to greet
people as they come in. Come see for yourself.
◄They say I am a Blue
Point Birman mix. If you
don’t know what that is,
let me give you an explanation. “Birmans are
affectionate, gentle, and
faithful companions with
an air of dignity that
seems to invite adoration by their human companions.” So that probably explains why I like
people, but on my terms.
The main one being
don’t try to carry me
around. And second, don’t give me other cats or dogs as I
deserve to be the only cat. Since you know everything about
me now, come visit and ask for Tabitha. See for yourself
what a Birman looks like, you won’t be disappointed!
◄Kalina is just another name for
flower, and such a
perfect name for a
beautiful kitty who is
as pretty as any
flower you have ever
seen. I am a rarity
because I am an
orange Tabby. You
know only about one
in every 100 orange
cats is a female. I
am 5-years-old, I love
people, and people
love me. If you want to brighten your house up with a
beautiful flower that never wilts - come take me home.
►Could you
be my Sherlock? I only
asked ‘cause
my name is
Watson and I
am looking
for my Sherlock so we
could solve
crimes together. All
right, so
maybe a cat
can’t solve
crimes, but
they say I am
quite inquisitive which is important for a crime-solving cat.
Now that you’re thinking about me, the facts are:
4-years-old, male, black and white, very friendly, adjusts
to new situations quickly, gets along well with other cats.
You’ve got the 411, so now come take me home.
◄They named me Gertie
after Saint Gertrude, who
was a nun and mystic
writer. With that in mind, it
should be no surprise that I
am a little quiet, but give off
a great “aura”. I had a
home, briefly, but my owner
developed an allergy and
now I must search again. I
am 6-months-old and the
loveliest light gray Tabby
with long hair. I’m already
spayed and vaccinated. If
you want to have serenity
and wonderful karma, take a chance with me.

Hello, my name is
Reign. I am a
beautiful 2-yearold brindle Pitbull.
I have been
spayed and my
rabies vaccination
is up to date. I am
house-trained and
even crate-trained.
I have never been
abused and come
from a loving family. And now to get
on to the more
important stuff...I
love to play outside and lounge
around in the sun.
One of my favorite
things in the world
is to play fetch with a tennis ball. I have also been
known to find great joy in playing with water from the
water hose. When I am inside, I love to cuddle (p.s. belly
rubs are awesome, too!). I also like to spend my time
relaxing around the house and chewing on bones. It
takes me a little bit to warm up to new people but when I
do, I am super sweet and love attention. I would prefer
to be an only dog. I do not play so well with other dogs,
as I am a very dominant female. I also have not been
around children so I am not sure how I would act in that
situation. I would make a great and loyal companion for
someone who has the time to love me. If you would like
to meet me, please call Kristie at 910-465-4129.

◄See this dreamy look on
my face? I’m wearing it
because I was getting lots of
rubs and cuddles when my
photo was taken. I’m a very
purry and loveable girl, so I
always welcome a human’s
touch! My name is Kit Kat
and I’m a 3-year-old spayed
sweetheart who is great with
children and used to living
indoor-only. I’d prefer to be
the only feline in the house,
please. That way, all the
rubs will be mine!
Open 10am-2pm Mon-Sat
◄An adorable orange Tabby
kitten is waiting right here for
you! I don’t yet have a name
because I want you to choose
it for me. I’m a 5-month-old
neutered boy who wandered
up to someone’s house.
They got me to the shelter
and now I’m making friends
with the other kitties and
melting hearts. I’m healthy,
litterbox-trained and a joy to
kiss and cuddle. Let’s go!
◄It’s been three
months since
my brother was
adopted and I’m
still waiting for a
home! Where are
all the people who
love orange Tabby
boys? Aren’t you
out there? Well,
I’m managing to
make the best of
things with my
upbeat, friendly personality and I’ve become pals with
another kitty here. If you have a feline at home, I bet I’d be
buddies with him or her, too! I’m an 8-month-old, darling
boy who you can name after my adoption.
▲My cage at the shelter is decked out with all the
necessities - litterbox, food, cozy cat bed, soft blanket but I’d trade it all in a New York second for a new life
with you! My name is Whiskey and I’m a 2-year-old
neutered boy who is declawed on my front paws. I’m
looking for an indoor-only home where I can lay in my
human’s lap and cuddle. I also enjoy toys and am
great with children. I have a very friendly and affectionate personality. Take me home today, please!

◄Hello! My name
is Rocco and I’m
a little boy, just 2years-old. I once
had a home but the
other cat didn’t take
a liking to me. It’s
odd, because I get
along great with
other felines! I play
very nicely with the
other kitties at the
shelter. In my
photo, I’m getting
ready to catch a
feather toy. Since
I’m used to living
indoors, I’ll be
happy to play like
this at your house!
I’m a very friendly
and loving lap cat
who is ready to
make you feel
adored. Adopt me!

Hi, I am Diamond and I am a
great girl looking for my forever home. I lost my home
when my human dad died
and the family had to turn me
in to Animal Control. I am in
a foster home now and doing
great. I am 5-years-old, 65
pounds, healthy, up to date
on vaccinations, and spayed.
You would never know my
age since I love to walk and
chase balls. When I get a
new toy, I love to throw it
around with my mouth and
bounce up and down. I walk
perfect on a loose leash, ride
great in a car, and am great
in the house. I am very calm
inside and love to just lay
around the house. I am
house-trained, know how to
use a doggie door, and cratetrained. I am very quiet; my foster family has never heard
me bark! I like to play with other dogs, and I am fine with
large or very small dogs. I am good with children and love
everyone I meet. A family with older children would be fine
(due to my size). I would be great for the first time dog
parent or any family. To find out more about me, please
email my foster mom, Alexis, at dogcollar12@aol.com or
call 910-540-6004. I am a Southern States Rescued Rottweiler dog and there is an application, home visit, adoption
fee prior to adoption. Hope to meet you soon.

►Oh, mercy me. My
name is Percy
(A299599) and I’ve recently had my heart broken. I was a longtime,
faithful companion but
my owner passed away
and I was taken in by
Animal Services in New
Hanover County. I am
now faced with the opportunity to find a new
family to love. I like exploring and eating
yummy treats, I love
being rubbed and I
dream of being in a loving home again. Could
you help me out with that? I am already neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Let’s be friends.
►My name is Rita
(A299777) and I’m a
Gordon Setter mix with
black and brown fur. I
desperately want to
find a loving, forever
home. I’m such a
sweetheart that it’s
very difficult for me to
be here at the shelter.
I’m only 3-years-old,
I’ve been spayed and
my vaccinations are
current. I am already
house-trained and I’m
good with kids. Please
save me and make me
part of your family.
OPEN SATURDAYS!
◄My name is Kit
(A299598) and I’m a
3-year-old brown Tabby
boy. I was surrendered
by my family when they
could no longer take
care of me. I’m a super
cool dude with a heart
of gold and I’m ready to
move in with you today.
I’m social, I love being
near you, I crave being
petted and I even don’t
mind being held. I’m
litter-trained, vaccinated
and neutered. How
about you drive your
booty on out here to the
shelter and pick me up.
I promise that you and I will be great, lifelong friends.
►I am one smart cookie! I
know how to sit and lay down
on command. When I was
given one of those interactive
treat hiders, I was quick to
figure out how to acquire
those cleverly hidden morsels
of deliciousness! My name is
Murray (A299170) and I’m a
3-year-old mixed breed boy.
I’m vaccinated and neutered,
I’m good on a leash, I’m very
affectionate, and I enjoy sitting next to you and making
you feel loved. Please stop
by the shelter and take me
into the adoption room so we can get to know each other!
◄Hi, everyone. I’m a
Saint Bernard named
Dahlia (A299796) and
I’ve had a pretty rough
go of it recently. I was
severely underweight
when I came to the
shelter. I have been
chowing down, sleeping on cushy beds,
and have been patiently waiting for just
the right home. I’m
only 2-years-old and
will be a very big girl
once I’ve reached my
ideal weight.

◄Are you looking to
adopt a people-loving,
purry girl? My name is
Emberly (A299528) and
I’m a 2-year-old stray
who was picked up by
Animal Services. I have
been spayed and vaccinated. I crave attention
and being rubbed. I
think head and neck
scratches are the best
thing since sliced bread!
I will roll over on my
back for attention and
will also rub against your
legs. Please, please
give me a chance.

My name is
Sarah and I
am a 6 to 8month-old orange Tabby
girl! Yes, orange Tabby
females are
very RARE!
We only come
around three
or four times a
year. Usually
orange Tabbies are
males, but not
me. I am one
of a kind. I am
super friendly
and super loving. I am very outgoing and gentle, too. I
love to rub up against you and tease you into petting me,
but then I trick you into thinking you can pick me up and
hug me. Nope. I prefer to have all four feet planted on
the ground where I feel safe, but that’s ok. I don’t need a
hug anyway. I just need you to adopt me and love me on
my own terms. And that’s what most cats do anyway.
Will you be the one? I am homeless because my owner
died. If you would like to know more info about me or
would like to inquire about the adoption process, please
call Adopt-An-ANGEL at 910-392-0557. You may also
visit us online at www.adoptanangel.net for more details.
I am sponsored by Perry Davis. Thank you!
Hi, my name is Manny. I
am a 7-month-old Blue
Brindle Pit Bull puppy. I
was rescued from a bad
home situation but I am the
most well-tempered dog
you will ever meet. I love
kids of all ages, and have
been around kids as young
as 2-years-old. I usually
don't jump and have good
manners. I am housetrained, crate-trained and
leash-trained. I also know
sit, stay, come, and lay
down on command and I
am learning more everyday. I was adopted a
month ago, but my new mom had to work and her family
members stopped caring for me so she decided it was best
to give me back. Even though I have been through a lot in
my 7-months of life, I don't let that define me. I am up for
an adventure anytime. I love all dogs, I have fun with the
dogs I’m fostered with and I love going to the dog park.
When I was a baby, I was run over by a car because my
owners threw me outside and didn't watch me. I had surgery on my back legs and have fully recovered. I am neutered, up to date on shots, and take heartworm prevention.
I weigh 35 pounds and I probably won’t be a very big dog.
Did I mention I even like cats? My foster mom loves me
very much and wants my next home to be my last and
forever home. Please contact Caroline by emailing
taylor_byrd2000@yahoo.com or calling 910-214-7633.
PAW’S Place
Please call 910-845-7297 to adopt us!
◄If you are looking for love,
I’m your girl! My name is
Belle and I was brought to
Paw’s Place several months
ago after I was found on the
side of the road, starving,
with skin loss and a bad
mouth infection. It's amazing what medicine, good
food and lots of TLC will do.
I need to be treated for
heartworms, which Paw’s
Place will take care of. I’m
about 3-years-old and a healthy 55 pounds. They say I
NEVER stop wagging my tail. That’s just to let everyone
know that I love them and other dogs, too. Don’t miss out
on me – they say I’m a gem. Come visit!
(Call for a pre-adoption application and adoption fee info.)
◄Please don’t let another
Valentine’s Day go by
without me finding my
forever home! You see,
my name is Valentine
because I was found on
February 14. I get a little
down in the dumps when
that day comes around
and I see other dogs going home with their brand
new families. I know I’m
beautiful because everyone tells me so. Am I still here
because people think Hounds are only good for hunting?
Well, I’d like to have the chance to show them what a
great family pet I would be. I sure do hope you’ll adopt
me or spread the word to your friends about me!
◄Sammy is my name and
I’m one of the new kids on
the block at Paw’s Place.
I came from the Brunswick
County Animal Shelter
where I had been turned in
by my owner who didn’t
want me anymore. I must
confess, no one can figure
out why! They say I’m a
Heinz 57 – I think that
means they are not real
sure what I am. I’m small,
about 30 pounds, and I am
heartworm positive, but
Paw’s Place will get me
nice and healthy. I am energetic and love to play with other dogs. Everyone thinks I
would make a great pet for a family with children. Come
visit and let’s see if we if we are a good match!
▲I’m John Boy. I was named after the kind man
who found me on Oak Island. The people at Paw’s
Place say I have an ‘old soul’. But hey, I’m only
three. What’s so old about that? I think they mean
that for a dog my size (about 65 pounds), I’m very
smart and gentle. I arrived with heartworms and a leg
injury and am being treated for both. I have a dream
of being in a home with a fenced-in yard and kids to
cuddle with. And at night, I’ll hear my human say
“Good night, John Boy.” Can’t wait for the real thing!
◄I’m Tybee and I've
been at Paw’s Place for
quite some time. My
friends here think that I
would do really well with
one person. We know
that I used to get along
with cats and, while I get
along with dogs here, we
would need to have a
’Meet & Greet’ if you
have another dog. I can
be a little shy at first, but
I'm very loving and loyal.
One of my favorite things to do is go for walks on a
leash. Would you give me a chance at a real home
again? It’s been a while. Come see me.
◄It’s me, Tessie! I’ve
been at Paw’s Place for
almost a year. I don’t
understand why I haven’t been adopted? I’m
a Plott Hound mix who
weighs 35 pounds.
That’s a perfect size,
don’t you think?
People – I love them.
Kids – love them too.
Dogs – I love most of
them! I have lots of
energy and it would be
great if I had a yard where my family would play with me.
In April, I will only be 2-years-old. I still have so much life
to live and love to give – can I live it with you and give you
my love? Come see me any day between 9 and Noon.

Hello, my
name is
Kahlua
and I’m a
beautiful
Chocolate
Pitbull
mix. I am
in desperate need
of a family of my
own because I
am so
tired of
being
passed around. Here is my sad story. When I was
younger the vet thinks my leg was broken probably from
trauma or being hit by a car. My leg healed completely
wrong and I have been in pain. I have scheduled surgery
to have my leg amputated on February 7th. I'm not worried as I know I will be fine but I would so love to go to my
forever home. I am good with most dogs but I can be
picky. I do love all humans; young and old. I am completely vetted and love walks and car rides. I am around
1-year-old and weigh 50 pounds. Please consider putting

(A011010) because I’m so
handsome and charming! I
love everyone I meet and
am always wagging my tail.
I’m a 4-year-old boy who
adores toys and treats. I
arrived at the shelter with
my friend, pictured just below me. We were abandoned and now need you to
come adopt us! I’d love to
be the only dog in the family
- I’ll give you so much love
you won’t need anyone else.
Let’s go home today!
WE’RE OVERCROWDED AND
NEAR CAPACITY.
◄SMALL DOG ALERT!!
The one who adopts me will
be so lucky! My name is
Goldie (A011240) and I’ll
be a loveable, affectionate,
life-long friend and companion to my new family. I’m
the perfect size to cuddle in
your lap and I’m already
house-trained. I get along
just fine with other dogs and
also cats. I love to be with
children and will curl up
beside them. I’m a darling
girl and it’s cold outside in
the kennels. Come get me!
►I’m Duke (A011055),
a 2-year-old Walker
Hound boy. I’m so
handsome and friendly!
In fact, I passed a temperament test with flying
colors. Basically, that
means I behaved nicely
around food, toys, cats
and other dogs. I’m
very deserving of your
love and your help - you
see, I tested positive for
heartworms. You would
be a true savior if you
adopted me and got me
treated. I will thank you
for your love with every
beat of my heart!
PLEASE ADOPT US!!
►Hello, Ralphie
(A011007) here! I’m a
brindle-colored boy who
is just 4-years-old and
already neutered. I
have a very friendly,
loving and playful personality. Would you
come meet me SOON?
I was abandoned with
several other dogs and
have been at the shelter
for a while. I’d like to be
the only dog in my new
home. You’ll be so glad
you picked me, promise!
◄Looking for a wellbehaved puppy? Well, here
I am! My name is Noodle
(A011060) and I’m a 10month-old, fawn-colored
Terrier who sits on command (just check out my
photo for proof!) I’ve been at
the shelter over 30 days and
the cages are getting very
full - won’t you please come
adopt me? I know we’d
have a fun life together. I’m
so very sweet and eager to
please. You’ll love me!

▲Hi there! My name is Aspen (A011209) and I’m a 7month-old Lab mix puppy! I’m a new arrival at the shelter
and I hope I find a family soon! I was transferred here from
Onslow County Animal Control due to renovations. I’m a
sweet, playful puppy and I get along well with other dogs.
Please, let me become the newest member of your family!

I’m Sun Drop, a

and I love to cuddle. Imagine me lying across your lap or

◄I’m a loving and
friendly Calico girl named
Pieces! I hope my new
family or person is reading this. You see, I was
abandoned by my owner
in a carrier and no one
can understand why. I’m
social, super-affectionate,
a purring machine and I
get along great with other
cats! Someone obviously
treated me well and now
you can benefit from it by
adopting me and taking
me home. I would love to
be a companion again.
It’s what I was made for.
►To look at me, you’d
never guess that I’m
8-years-old! I’m a tiny
girl named Sabrina
and I’m sad to say that
I’ve been returned to
the shelter after being
part of a loving family
for years. My senior
citizen mom had to
move and couldn’t take
me with her. I’m a very
sweet and affectionate
girl who is hoping that I
won’t have to stay at
the shelter for much
longer. Won’t you
please adopt me?
◄I was once part of a
quartet of puppies nicknamed “Little Women’.
My sisters Jo and Beth
were featured in last
month’s issue. Well, I’m
the only “Little Woman”
left to be adopted and I
hope it’s soon! My name
is Amy and I’m a very
sweet and precious girl,
full of puppy kisses and
puppy playfulness. At
just 12-weeks-old, I’m
ready to be your new best
friend! I’m told I look just
like a Black Mouth Cur
puppy. Come on over and meet me - I’m waiting!
►I’m a Family Dog in need
of a family! My name is
Daisy and I already have
everything it takes to be a
loving and loyal companion
to you and your kin. I’m
house-trained, which is always a plus, and I’m leashtrained, too. There is a nice
volunteer who takes me for
walks along with her two
small children and I get
along just great with her
kids! Oh, I’m also very well
trained. Just tell me to ‘sit’
or ‘lay down’ and I’ll do it.
Isn’t it a shame for a great
dog like me to be alone? Please let me be your sweet girl.
My Adoption Fee has
already been paid!
◄Hello, my name is
Amethyst! I’m an
adorable puppy girl who
was found wandering
all by myself down a
very busy Route 53.
A Good Samaritan
stopped and picked me
up. Lucky for me! Now
I’m searching for a loving family. I’m an 8week-old Terrier mix
and I’m spayed and up
to date on puppy shots.
If you’ve been hoping to
cuddle a puppy through
the winter, here I am!
P. O. Box 626, Burgaw NC 28425
◄Hello up there, my
name is Tango! I’m a
very handsome, male
orange tiger, approximately 6-years-old. I am
looking for a lap to sleep
on! Is yours available? I
was found as a stray in
the Stag Park area, but I
act as though I was once
someone’s beloved companion. I just love to be
held, kissed and given
attention. I will be such a
great friend to my lucky
adopter! I’m already
neutered, vaccinated and
litterbox-trained, so hurry on over and let’s go home!

I am Ollie, an allaround GRRReat

loving and settled

with everyone.
They say I am
reaching my golden

get along fine with
other dogs with a
similar energy level.
I even enjoy the

I have very good

house-trained, I’m not at all destructive, and I prefer the
security and safety of my crate. I am looking for a

You found
me! My
name is
Nemo! I
am a Silky

who is
approximately 9years-old,
11 inches
tall and
just 11
pounds. I am good with dogs, women, men and older children. I am completely house-trained, crate-trained and
leash-trained and I’m vaccinated and fixed. Did someone
say, "Go for a walk?" I love to go with you no matter where
you go. I have a condition known as Irritable Bowel Disease. I do not take any medication, I just have to stay on
my special food and treats. It’s that's easy! I would do best
in a home as an only dog, where I can be really spoiled.
Do you have room in your heart and home for me? If so,
please email debi@carolinapoodlerescue.org or call

I’m Dreyfus
(SRC#1350), a
unique Pekingese
male who is one of
the sweetest and
most cuddly little
men you will ever
meet! I’m such an
amazing little boy
that Schnauzer Rescue of the Carolinas
(SRC) cannot understand why I have not
been adopted already! Give me
someone to curl up
with and a person to
love and I am in heaven! I am definitely a Velcro dog and
get my greatest pleasure from spending time with my human companions. I’m about 6 to 7-years-old and weigh
about 15 pounds. I’m neutered, house-trained, and cratetrained. I came to SRC as an Honorary Schnauzer when
one of their volunteers found me at a shelter where I was
about to be euthanized. They saw far too much life and
love in me to leave me there to die! I have been with SRC
for almost one year now and all the volunteers love me so
much! I am Mr. Personality Plus and yet I know when you
simply need to rest quietly and cuddle. I sense your needs
and provide them with ease and grace. My friends are so
sad for me that I have yet to find my own permanent family
to call my very own. I am loved in my foster home but I
know I need a permanent placement and every face I look
into is one where I am asking, “Will you love me forever?”
I am so adorable that meeting me is to love me! Please
check out adopting me right away and visit our website at
www.schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org. There you can fill
out an application or view other pets up for adoption. If you
need an application mailed or faxed to you, please call

Hi folks! I'm Charlie
(A069140), a 1-yearold male American
Foxhound. I can
promise you that I
have all the right stuff
to be a wonderful
canine companion: a
heart meant for loving, a tail meant for
wagging and handsome hound ears
meant for listening.
At a recent adoption

those little humans

was a total love muffin. So I’m definitely
kid approved! I'm all ready to be your best friend so please
come visit me and see if I'm the one for you! For driving

Thanks for reading about me and I hope to see you soon!
I am sponsored by Adam's Folly Pet Boarding,
Bolivia, NC. Thanks!
I’m Gator - the southern
gentleman’s Hound. I
spent the first 12-years of
my life with one dad. I was
an outdoor, doghouse-infenced-in-back-yard
Bubba. That was all I
knew. I didn’t even know
my dad’s name since I was
always outside and he was
always in that building that
looked warm and cozy at
night. And then one day, I
never saw my dad again.
Soon I found my way to Carolina Basset Hound Rescue
(CBHR) where I would now and always be allowed in the
warm and cozy building. They said I would need to change
my ways to find a forever home. I was so fat that it was
easier to go over me than around me. But here we are
now – 15 pounds lighter! I was fully house-trained quicker
than a knife fight in a phone booth. Full disclosure – I do
have a penchant for hopping up on the couch to take a
nap. And just so you know, you probably shouldn’t leave
fried chicken unattended at the edge of the dinner table. I
am with new foster parents and two Basset siblings now
and I am very quickly learning their ways - like sitting by the
door when I am ready to go out, without fail. Who said old
dogs can’t learn new tricks? At age 12, I don’t look or feel
a day over 9! I am a gentle, loving, laid-back yet relatively
active hound. I still get out and run at the dog park. I still
jump in and out of the car on my own and navigate stairs
with ease. I want to shadow my “furever home” parents
and/or four leggers around the house, lay next to you to
take naps, and enjoy those massaging shampoo baths that
I have grown to love so much. To adopt me, call CBHR at
919-708-4247 or visit our website at www.cbhr.com.

had to move away. I was treated for heartworms, I am already neutered and I’m up to date on my vaccinations. I do
well with other dogs but I do not get along with cats! If you

loved, please call Amy at 910-228-1181 for more info.
Abagail here! I am a lovely Siamese girl, waiting for a

◄Hi - I'm Candy - a
darling Lemon Walker
Hound! I was adopted
but my owner’s health
took a turn for the
worse and he could no
longer take care of
me. I am 18-monthsold and weigh about 35
to 40 pounds. I am a
little shy at first but it
doesn't take me long to
warm up - then I can't
get enough pets and
rubs! I do love to run
and play and would
really like a fenced-in
yard! See you soon!
◄They call me
Cashmere
because I am
sooooooooooo
soft! As you can
see, I am a beautiful Calico girl and I
recently arrived at
SOAR as a very
young mother - my
son Max was just
adopted into his
fur-ever home and
I am so happy for
him! I am a little shy at first but once I get to know you I
would love to let you pet me and rub me and give me love!
I am about 1-year-old, spayed and up to date on all shots.
►Hey! Hey! Hey!
Let's play! Come on!
Hurry up! Let's go!
Want a friend with
LOTS of energy who
loves to run and play
and run and play and
run and play? Well THAT'S me!!! I'm
Max! Granted - I am
going to need a little
training - but I am really
smart and all I want is
to smother you with
puppy kisses! I am
about 1-year-old and
they say I am a
Retriever/Hound mix. I am neutered and up to date on all
my shots. I definitely need a fenced-in yard and will be
your best friend forever if you just give me a chance!
►Kita's the
name and lovin's
my game! I'm a
sweet 3-year-old
boy with a mix of
herding dog,
corgi, Akita (thus
the name!) and
Romeo! They
take great care
of me here at
SOAR and I have
made some wonderful friends but I want nothing more than a
fur-ever home of my own and someone to love me as much
as I love them! I will be waiting for you, ma chérie amour!
►I know it’s hard to
believe because I am
so beautiful – but I am
11-years-old! And though
that may be old in cat
years – in my heart I am
still a youngster. Hi - I'm
Madison and here is my
story! I have been a little
sad lately. I had lived
with my human since I
was a kitten, but when
she got sick and passed
away, I wondered what
would happen to me! But
now I am living at SOAR, just waiting for someone to take
me home with them to enjoy my “golden” years. I love to
be rubbed and petted and I have always lived with other
cats – so if you have another one – that is fine with me!
►Roses are red violets are blue - I’m
a beautiful cat - just
waiting here for
you! Hi, I'm Lily and
if you adopt me you
will also adopt a
poet!! As you can
see, I am a beautiful
girl but I am also very
sweet. I love to sit in
laps and get my head
rubbed. I live with
other cats at the shelter so I think it would
be fine for me to live
with other cats at
your house, too.
Can't wait to meet!

22 pounds of pure love!
My name is King and
I’m a darling, small boy
with a playful attitude
towards life. My bubbly, upbeat nature will
keep you entertained,
that’s for sure. I’m a
7-month-old, neutered
male whose lineage is a
little fuzzy - perhaps I’m
a Boston Terrier mix,
perhaps not. Whatever
I am, it has all added up
to being adorable! I’m
also vaccinated and on
heartworm prevention.
And yes, I’m housetrained and crate-trained as well. I used to live in a household where I played nicely with the 6-year-old and 9-yearold children and I loved to go for car rides. I get along
great with other dogs, but I’ve never met a cat in my life.
My former owners simply didn’t have enough time for me
and wanted me to find a home where I will be a full-fledged
family member. Please come meet me and let’s see if I
can be added to yours! Call the New Hanover Humane
Society at 910-763-6692 and tell them you’re headed over.
I am sponsored by Levi Donovan.

Rescue Animals Community Effort
My name is Gabe and
when I was found, I was
1/2 frozen and completely
exhausted. I am about the
sweetest thing you will
ever find, and so grateful
to be warm, dry and fed. I
am a 10 to 12-month-old,
Collie/Foxhound boy. My
foster mom took me to the
park yesterday and I had a
blast! I love to run and
romp. It would be great if
you had another dog and a fenced-in yard. My very
favorite thing is to be with you, I just love to be in
your lap or on the couch. If you would like to meet
me, please call R.A.C.E. at 910-547-2839 or visit us
on the web at raceshelter.org.
Adopt-An-ANGEL
My name is Mary and I
am an exuberant, active
girl. I am full of life and
lots of love. I am a
Golden Retriever mix with
one blue eye. I am bright,
quick on my feet, and
very agile. I already know
"sit" and "down", walk on
a loose leash and am
very food motivated - so
training me should be a
snap! I do well with other
dogs, but may play too
rough with cats. I am house-trained and may need a
fenced-in yard, if you cannot provide me with regular
exercise. I am a mid-sized girl who weighs 40 to 45
pounds. You have to meet me to see how beautiful I
really am. To adopt me, please call 910-392-0557.
My name is Kovu
and I am energetic,
but I am also calm
and eager to
please, too. I walk
really well on a
leash and am learning to sit on command. I do pretty
well with female
dogs, but I’m not too
fond of boy dogs. I
am mid-sized at
around 42 pounds, I’ve already been neutered AND I
just want to come home with YOU! I would be best
suited in a home with a fenced-in yard. I am very
unique with my pretty brindle fur. Some people think I
could have some Dutch Shepherd in me. To adopt me,
please call Adopt-An-ANGEL at 910-392-0557.
Pet Friends of Duplin County
Miss Avis Davis, 1990-2005
I'm Fonzi and I was
rescued just before
my time was up.
I'm a 6 to 7-year-old
Walker Hound and
as you can see, I'm
in great shape. I'm
healthy, happy and
ready to be your
best friend. I'm a
quiet, gentle guy
who gets along with
other dogs, cats
and kids. I'm up to date on my shots and neutered. I
was fostered as an indoor/outdoor dog, but never
had accidents inside. I would love to be part of your
family. Please call 910-271-3101 to meet me, you
won't regret it.
My name is Hope and I've
been looking for my forever
home for quite a while. I
weigh 35 pounds and they
think I'm a Sharpei and Shepherd mix. I'm between 1 to 2years-old and when I arrived
at the shelter, I had a rope tied
around my neck and had a
bad case of mange. I've been
taking some medicine and I'm
feeling so much better! I'm good with other dogs, cats
and kids. I'm a little shy in some situations, but tend to
warm up fast. My foster mom said I am one of the
smartest and sweetest fosters she ever had. I'm
trained to an underground fence and of course, I'm up
to date on shots and spayed. For more information
about me, please call 910-271-3101.
Hi y'all, I’m Allison and I
am a gorgeous 2 to 3year-old flame point Siamese with big blue eyes
and soft silky fur with
orange ears and tail. I
seriously cannot believe
that I have not been
adopted yet because I
am such a loving, affectionate girl. I know adult
cats are harder to place
but I am the complete
package and I am past
the naughty stage.
Please come by Wags and Whiskers pet store or call
R.A.C.E at 910-547-2839 to see me. You may also visit

4 PAWS LIFESAVER RESCUE
OPERATION TOPCAT
I'm Ruger and I need a home. I am
a 1-year-old Boxer/Mastiff mix who
weighs about 75 pounds. I have
been with my foster family for a
couple months now and would
really like to have a home of my
own. I promise I am a good boy
who is house and crate-trained, and
I’m good with kids of all ages. I can
be a little too rowdy for small dogs,
but I love to play with bigger dogs and wouldn't mind having
a home all to myself. I am still a fun-loving puppy but I love
to cuddle on the couch with my humans, too! I am neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on prevention. To adopt me or one of my friends, contact Lisa at
252-531-0744 or 4pawlifesaver@suddenlink.net.
My name is Ethan and I
am a real cool, dark gray
with white feet boy who
is about 8-months-old. I
was rescued just in the
nick of time. I have been
neutered and had all my
shots and I am now
ready for a safe, loving
inside home. I like to
play and I like people. I don't mind other cats and I am in a
foster home with dogs to see how I'll do. As with most kitties who have been rescued, I will need a bit of time to learn
to trust you but I am soooo worth the wait. Please won't you
give me a chance at a home? Please send an email to
otopcatnc@aol.com or call 910-200-0612 to adopt me.
FUREVER FRIENDS ANIMAL RESCUE
ONSLOW COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER
Hi, my name is Phoebe. I’m a
female Dachshund mix who is
5-years-old and just 15 pounds.
I was found as a stray by Animal Control and had surgery to
repair a hernia. I am spayed,
current on vaccinations and
have a microchip. I do have
heartworms but the folks at
Furever Friends will take care
of that. I love humans and
other animals but tend to protect my food - so feed me separately from other animals
and kids. Please give me a home and let me know what it
means to have a loving family. For more information, call
910-383-2100, email slsfureverfriends@gmail.com or visit
us online at fureverfriendsanimalrescue.org.
My name is Lucas (A072825).
Well, go figure - I’m still a little
young (only 2) and obviously a
“work in progress” as they say.
My family dumped me off here
‘cause they didn’t have the time to
help me learn the ropes. I know
there are some aggravating stages
puppies go through but these are
just stages and I will learn because I’m smart. I just need a little
more time. I can promise you this, once I’m trained, you’ll
never regret your decision to help me through these awkward days I’m experiencing. Please give me a chance to
prove myself. I’m a neutered Chocolate Lab with a heart
as big as Texas. To adopt me, call 910-455-0182. The
shelter is located at 244 Georgetown Road in Jacksonville.
ONSLOW PARTNERS FOR ANIMAL WELFARE
CAROLINA ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY
My name is Jack and I am
a Lab and Border Collie
mix who is 11-months-old
and 43 pounds. I am a
super sweet guy who is
very smart. I love to catch
a Frisbee and play ball. I
can impress folks with my
basic command knowledge and I am cratetrained, on heartworm and
flea prevention, neutered
and up to date on all vaccinations. I am ready to go!!
Come check me out!! I will
be your best friend and
devoted companion. Please call 484-883-3552 or email
ocpaw@yahoo.com for more information. To send in an
adoption application, visit our website at www.oc-paw.com.
Hi, my name is Danny. Can
you believe my family would
move away and leave me behind? You see, I only have
three legs (missing a back leg).
I get along well with other cats
and I love attention. I am very
sweet and social and I would
love a forever home with lots of
love. CAPS has two other cats
(one adult named Simon and
one kitten named Elliot - who are also missing back legs).
It does not affect their day to day living skills. They just
need someone to give them a chance. CAPS is also reducing the adoption fee for any cat over the age of 5.
Please consider adopting an older cat or one with a disability - they would be a great addition to any family. Contact
Debbie at 910-330-1376, debbiebaldwin@hotmail.com, or
capsrescue.com with any questions.

PET FRIENDS OF DUPLIN COUNTY
PENDER PERFECT PETS
Hi, I'm Freddie, a handsome 2-year-old boy who’s
probably a Collie and Shepherd mix. When I was
brought to the shelter as a
stray, I had a bad eye infection. It's all healed and I'm
ready for my new family. I
would love a home with
another dog who likes to
play and I'm good with kids,
too. I do like to chase cats,
so I think I need a home
without them. I'm friendly,
well mannered, up to date
on vaccinations, already
neutered and trained to an underground fence. Please call
910-271-3101 so we can meet.
Hound dogs make some of the best
family pets! I’m Julie, a 5 to 6-yearold (smaller) Walker Hound who is in
a loving foster home where I have
learned everyday dog manners like
‘sit’, ‘‘stay’, and how to walk well on
a leash. I am also house-trained
and crate-trained! I am great with
cats, dogs, all people and children. I
do not bark at all! I LOVE to go for
car rides. I am heartworm negative,
up to date on all vaccines, spayed
and microchipped. I would be a
wonderful fit for someone who just wants a very happy
dog to become part of their family. Please call 910-5380106 anytime if you are interested in adopting me.
COASTAL ANIMAL RESCUE EFFORT (C.A.R.E.)
I am Blossom and I’m
hoping that I can bloom
in someone's heart and
they will take me home. I
have been here since
2007, but I haven’t lost
hope in finding my
furever home. I would
love for you to invite your
friends to like C.A.R.E.
on Facebook so the word
can spread that I am

you are interested in visiting me, come by Atlantic
Animal Hospital during their business hours. For questions
about adoption, please call 910-256-2624.
Don’t I have a great smile!?
You’d be smiling too if you got
rescued from the shelter ‘just
in the nick of time’. Anyway,
my name is Ken. Me and my
buddy Barbie are in training at
the New Hanover Correctional
Center with the Pawsitive
Partners Prison Program. I’m
about 2-years-old and a Brittany Spaniel/Hound mix. I am
learning lots of obedience
commands and am cratetrained. You even get my crate when you adopt me! I
graduate in March so that’s when you can take me home
but you’d better apply today, a charmer like me will go fast.
Fill out an application at www.montyshome.org or, if you
have any questions, call or email Monty’s Home at

What can I say – everyone says I’m adorable –
and it’s true! When
Paw’s Place picked me
up from Brunswick
County Animal Shelter
they decided to call me
Mia. I’m mostly black
with cute black and white
spotted paws. Everyone
thinks that I’m probably a
Border Collie/Lab mix
and right now I weigh
about 17 pounds at
4-months of age. Best
guess is that I will be a
solid dog weighing about
45 pounds at maturity. I’ve had all of my
shots and I will be
spayed as soon my skin issue is all cleared up. By the time
you read this, I should be good to go. Stop by Paw’s Place
and ask to see the adorable puppy – that’s Mia! You can
also call 910-845-7297 for adoption info or directions.

SCHNAUZER RESCUE OF THE CAROLINAS
CAROLINA BASSET HOUND RESCUE
I’m Beanie, a tiny Schnauzer/Poodle
female. I am perhaps 2-years-old or
even less. I am an awesome dog and
very intelligent. I would be great as an
only dog because I LOVE humans and
am very cuddly. My favorite pastime is
to sit in your lap and have my tummy
rubbed! Of course, I still enjoy playtime
with other dogs but I come back to my
human as often as possible. I was heart
-worm positive, but have been treated
and am responding very well medically.
I’m also microchipped, spayed, vaccinated, house-trained
(mostly) plus crate and leash-trained – what more could
you want? Visit www.schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org
to fill out an application or view other pets. If you need an
application mailed or faxed, please call 919-723-7145.
I’m Jinny, a little southern belle.
I am a pocket-sized Basset and
I’m as sweet as the day is long. I
was a mommy a few times in my
former life, but now I’m spayed
and it’s time for me to be the
center of attention. I love going
for walks on the leash! Sniffing
from one end to the other at the
puppy park and jumping in and
out of the car for rides. I so enjoy
the company of my foster siblings, it reassures me. I also
prefer to carry my food bowl over to my bed to eat, check
out my video on our website to see what I mean. I don’t
speak often, but oh, the wisdom I impart when I do. To
adopt me and make me a member of your family, please

COASTAL CAROLINA BOSTON TERRIER RESCUE
SHAR-PEI RESCUE OF VIRGINIA
I'm Bogey, a sweet, young male
Shar-Pei. I'm a friendly, energetic
boy and love to play ball. I really
like snuggling, too. I'll cuddle right
up with you if you let me! I am
also crate-trained, do well with
baths, and am good at the vet. I
am friendly with everyone and
other dogs. I would love a home
that has kids, other dogs, or active
adults to play with because I love
to have fun with anyone or anything. My foster mom says that I
am a sweetheart and that I am one
of the sweetest dogs she has ever
met! To see more pictures or fill out an application, check

Nice to meet you, I’m Jingles.
Don’t let the grey fool you, doc
says I’m really only about 5
and when you see me running, you’ll know he’s right. I
make friends easily and love
to play with other dogs - it’s
easy ‘cause I can’t hear when
they talk about me. You see,
I’m deaf but that’s ok because
I can still run fast and snuggle
with my people. I learn fast,
following the other dogs
around and doing what they
do. If you want to teach me hand signals, I think that would
be really fun. Can I follow you home? For more info,
please contact CCBTR at ccbtr@fastmail.fm or call

BOSTON TERRIER RESCUE TEAM CAROLINAS
GREAT DANE RESCUE ALLIANCE
I’m Freddie, a 5-year-old
purebred Boston Terrier. I
weigh 20 pounds and love
the people and other dogs in
my foster home. I’m working
hard to become the perfect
dog. I love giving kisses,
snuggling with people, and
snuggling with other dogs.
My foster dad describes me
as just plain sweet and thinks that any family would be
lucky to love me. I would do best in a home with another
dog to play and cuddle with and with a person who is home
often to ease my anxiety of being left alone. I will truly
make a great addition to any family. To adopt me, send an
email to contactbtrtoc@yahoo.com or call 828-778-2045.
My name is Harlow! I'm a
very small girl, only 70
pounds at 15-months-old.
I'm a very sweet girl and
love to play with my foster
brothers and sisters, all
furry ones! I have lived
with cats and young kids
and did just fine. I'm also
deaf but that doesn’t slow
me down. My foster is working on sign language with me.
I'm not yet crate or house-trained but we are working on
that, too! Since I'm deaf, a fenced yard, as well as another

Adoption Celebration

Could I be your Valentine? My name is
Emma and I am a
10-month-old Puggle.
You might be wondering - what in the world
is a Puggle? Some
consider it a designer
breed of a Pug and
Beagle mix. All I
know is that I’m cute
and you need to adopt
me. I’d love to be the
center of attention in
your life, I am active, I
love to play and I’m
super affectionate. I
weigh 17 pounds and
am house-trained,
crate-trained, spayed,
up to date on all vaccinations and on heartworm and flea
prevention. I love children and I play well with other dogs.
I'm ready to give my heart to you and be your best little girl
to enjoy life with. Please send an email our way to
ocpaw@yahoo.com or call 484-883-3552. You may also
visit Onslow County Partners for Animal Welfare online at
www.oc-paw.com. I'll be waiting for you!
I’m Singer, the
cat who swallowed a singer
sewing needle.
Yup, you heard
right!! After being surrendered
to Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.)
the sewing needle has since
been removed,
but my spunky
little personality
remains intact. I
am ready to bring
love and playful
moments into
someone's home. The question is, could it be you? Don't
forget to like Coastal Animal Rescue Effort on Facebook
and invite your friends to like us, too, so that we can
spread the word that I want to find a furever home. For
questions about adopting me, please call 910-256-2624.
I am sponsored by Atlantic Animal Hospital who
supports Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.).
