We’re Living History!
It’s hard not to be impressed with our surroundings. The College at Florham is located on
part of what was once the country estate of Florence Vanderbilt and Hamilton Twombly,
well-known socialites in the early 1900s. Frederick Law Olmstead, who is best known for
creating New York City’s Central Park, designed our expansive campus grounds. The
centerpiece of campus is a 100-room mansion, which now houses classrooms and offices.
Built in the 1890s by the renowned architect Stanford White, it is a replica of a wing in
King Henry VIII’s Hampton Court.
Honors Programs at the College at Florham

Because of our liberal arts education focus, it’s no
surprise that honors programs are important to our
educational opportunities. Do you like to dig deeper
when it comes to learning? Our challenging classes,
invigorating projects and dedicated faculty mentors
can take your learning to the next level.
Becton College Honors offer students the opportunity
to pursue discipline-based honor studies in their major.
The University Honors Program offers gifted students a
learning experience that extends far beyond traditional
undergraduate studies through special courses, faculty
mentors, independent study and research projects.
The Florham Scholars is a residential honors program
for freshmen. Students live and study together as they
explore their interests in one of these areas: arts and
humanities, business, global studies or science.
Encouraging Learning All Around You
Because the College at Florham focuses on the
undergraduate experience, there are countless
opportunities for students to explore their majors and
grow professionally. A corporate mentor program links
top students with area executives to network and learn
about an industry. Students can earn up to 12 credits
(depending on their major) doing student-faculty
research in majors ranging from biology to political
science. A special fund has been created at the College
at Florham to support off-campus learning experiences.
Students have been funded to attend a student
conference on peace at Brandeis University; a meeting
of the New York Association of Analytical Psychologists
and a field trip to the International Center of
Photography, to name just a few.

Student Life at the C
Living on Campus
Nearly 1,500 students live in our 13 residence halls,
where you’ll discover the joys of personal independence
— and plenty of opportunities for social interaction, too.
Most first-year students live in the Twomblies,
two side-by-side, traditional-style residence
halls located near the Student Center. They’re
just the right size for getting to know your
classmates and meeting new friends. You’ll also
participate in programs designed to introduce
you to our campus and the region, like special
lectures, trips to New York City, getaway ski
weekends and more.
Our Academic Support Center also is located
in the Twomblies. It’s the place to go — day
or night — for free tutoring in your toughest
subjects, foreign language labs, and help in
time management and study skills. There’s
even a computer lab, complete with printers
and specialized software.
Housing for upperclassmen includes The Village (nine
halls with suite-style accommodations), Rutherford
Hall (double rooms and private bath) and Park Avenue
(apartment-style living).
Planning to Commute?
While most students live on campus, our “road
scholars” at the College at Florham are among our
most involved student leaders. (And our comfortable
commuter lounge is sure to be your second home.)
Where to Eat?
There are a variety of campus eateries, from full service
to fast food, including:
Main Dining Hall — Choose from a variety of daily hot
entrees or “create your own meal” with our wok,
pasta, salad, deli and ice cream stations;
Nathan’s® — For hot dogs, fries and create-your-own
sandwiches; and
The Grill, Florham Perk Café and Snax for quick bites.

Sports, recreation and fitness are part of everyday life at the College at Florham.
In addition to our Division III teams, there’s an active intramurals program
here, not to mention casual pick-up games on the campus green.
Finest Facilities
The Rec Center also has multiple courts for
basketball, volleyball and badminton with
seating for 2,300 fans, plus an elevated indoor
jogging track. There’s also an eight-lane, 25-yard
swimming pool and two racquetball courts.

Ferguson Recreation Center, where facilities
rival that of any health club. Professors and
students alike take advantage of its weighttraining equipment, stair climbers, upright and
recumbent bikes, rowing machines, treadmills,

weights, Olympic weightlifting and Plyometric
training. You can even sign up for your own
personal trainer.

The campus can be reached by several major interstate highways (NJ Routes 287
and 78) and the Garden State Parkway. It sits directly next to NJ Route 24.
International and out-of-state students can reach the College at Florham from
three major airports. Closest is New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport,
which is about a 40-minute drive to campus. New York City’s major airports —
Kennedy International and LaGuardia International — are approximately 1 to
1.5 hours from our campus. In advance of their flight, students should contact
the Office of Admissions for details on ground transportation options to campus.
