founders shared practical advice to support business growth with over 2,700
entrepreneurs across the country.
In Leeds, HSBC’s Ben Andrews, Head of Large Corporates in the North, was joined
by Sir Charles Dunstone, co-founder and chairman of Carphone Warehouse and
Ella Woodward, founder of Deliciously Ella. During the event these successful
entrepreneurs outlined how they established their businesses, the challenges they
overcame and the advice they wish they had been given.
Ben Andrews said: “Entrepreneurs in Yorkshire will be critical to the future
economic prosperity of the region, achieved through new investments and the
creation of more jobs. As part of this, it was especially pleasing to hear at
Entrepreneurs Exchange the scale of the investments being planned, with many of
the local entrepreneurs also having strong aspirations to grow their businesses
nationally and internationally.”
Minister for Small Business, Anna Soubry, said: "Entrepreneurs Exchange gave
aspiring entrepreneurs the chance to come together, build networks and share their
ideas. The events may be over but there are plenty more opportunities to get support
to start and grow your business. From government-backed start up loans to private
sector advice, I want to see even more people taking advantage of what’s out there
to create jobs, boost productivity and drive our growing economy. The 39 Growth
Hubs across England are a great place to start."
HSBC is committed to supporting small businesses and last month launched a £10
billion SME fund, which includes £850 million dedicated solely for entrepreneurs
and start-ups in Yorkshire.
