The last two years we have seen many changes in the Norwood Park Chamber
of Commerce AND the Norwood Park neighborhood. The chamber has a new Executive Director, Alyssa Triptow. Our board has sworn in several new directors. The
41st Ward has a new Alderman, Anthony Napolitano. Taft High School has a new
principal, Mark Grishaber. Thru these changes, your Norwood Park Chamber of
Commerce has grown stronger and more committed to the neighborhood businesses
and community. We are proud of our neighborhood and feel Norwood Park is still
the best kept secret in the city. Not only does it provide easy access to local Chicago
areas and to the world, but it also gives us great opportunity right in our backyard.
We have great parks, schools and businesses right here in our own community, and
the population and revenue potential to support it.
Building on the Norwood Park Chamber of Commerce’s resurgence under Bea
McDonough, the board of directors and Alyssa Triptow have increased our membership to 220 members! We saw our best turnout yet for the Fall Fest in 2015, and
introduced the Winter Fest … both huge successes. The NPCC is seen as a leader
in our community, bringing the many community groups together to provide more
opportunities for our local businesses.
In the past few years we have seen increased development in our neighborhood.
Businesses such as Iron Horse, Revel, Ada’s Market & Deli, Norwood Royal Cigars, Edward Fox Photography, Norwood Park Eye Center, Northwest Treasures, and
Kisbi Coffee are new to the Northwest Highway corridor. In 2016 we will see many
more coming in, such as Sprout Pediatric Dentistry, Home on the Highway, and
Sapori Napoletani Pizzeria e Ristorante.
In 2015 the Norwood Park Board of Directors put measures in place to ensure the future of the Chamber of Commerce. My thanks goes out to each of our
board members. These are hard working men and women volunteering their time
to help the community. Without them and the executive director Alyssa Triptow,
we wouldn’t enjoy many of the events put on in the community. We will continue
to sponsor the St. Patricks Day and Memorial Day parades, host the Fall Fest and
Winter Fest, provide scholarships for local children going to high school and college,
coordinate Halloween decorating contests, and so much more!
Our goal for 2016 is to continue developing and supporting the Northwest
Hwy corridor to attract more business and customers. We are also taking aim at the
Higgins corridor between Harlem and Sayre. Alyssa and I recently met with the
Foster and Harlem Homeowners Association to discuss our commitment to help
bring more business to the Higgins corridor.
Our vision for the Norwood Park business community is a simple one.
Support the “shop local” initiative. Everything we do is to drive business to our local
businesses. How will we do this? Creating networking opportunities, put on local
community meetings, sponsoring local events, utilizing the expertise within our
chamber membership, social media, and any other ideas our wonderfully creative
board of directors implement.

• Norwood Park Email Blast. At least once a month, plus during the holidays and before special events, the
Chamber sends out the Norwood Park Email Update to our patrons. Information about your events and
promotions will go to over 2,500 people (with more added every day), both in the neighborhood and beyond.
• Norwood Park Community Guide. Your listing will reach thousands of Chicago visitors and locals. Only
Chamber members are listed.
• Special Events. Hundreds of people flock to Norwood Park each year for Chamber and community organization
events, including: Fall Fest, Winterfest, Northwest Side Irish Parade, Norwood Park Memorial Parade, and other
smaller events. Most events are open to participation from Chamber members only.
• The Chamber web site, www.norwoodpark.org, provides a great opportunity to reach new customers on the Web
through exclusive advertising available to members and links to Chamber members’ web sites. It is also a source of
information about Norwood Park and its businesses for visitors.
• Networking. Chamber members share resources and generate significant business from each other at our
networking events and round tables.
• Street Banners. Logo recognition is huge. The street banner program is offered to Chamber members exclusively.

“Dollars for Scholars”
The Norwood Park Chamber’s Dollars for Scholars Program generates two
one-time, non-renewable $500 awards that are open to any Norwood Park
student who meets specific eligibility criteria. The scholarship is payable to
the high school, community college, university/college, or post-secondary
(technical or trade) degreed program of the student’s choice. The goal of this
scholarship is to support the educational/career plans of graduating students
who have demonstrated a commitment to personal integrity, ethics, and
community service. The Scholarship is distributed to two students in May

On The Train — A One-Way cash fare can be purchased on the train from the conductor. However, if an agent is
on duty at the station where you boarded, the conductor will charge an additional $3.00 for cash fares purchased
