WHAT EXACTLY IS D3O ?
®
D3O® impact protection is a patented technology used to
create a soft and flexible shock absorbing material featuring
unique molecular properties. In standard conditions its
molecules flow freely, but on impact, they lock together to
absorb impact energy and reduce the force transmitted.
D3O® is a SMART material. It’s rate sensitive, so it
understands the different load rates of stress vs strain
characteristics. In plain speak, this means the harder the

TRADITIONAL MATERIALS?
D3O® is a patented impact protection technology with a unique
molecular structure allowing it to remain soft and flexible.
D3O® materials in their raw state flow freely when moved slowly,
but on shock and impact, lock together to absorb and disperse
energy, before instantly returning to their flexible state.
The technology in D3O® does not “go hard” when it absorbs and
disperses energy. The molecules lock together and then return
to the original, flexible state.

Measure the Player’s Head
Using a cloth measuring tape, measure the
circumference of the player’s head at its
widest point – which is usually about 1” above
the eyebrows. That measurement will give
you a good starting point for helmet size.
Proper Bill/Helmet Position
The helmet bill should be parallel to the
ground, about 1” above the eyebrows. With a
faceguard attached, both the guard and the
bill should be positioned so that you have a
clear, unobstructed view of the pitch.
No Independent Movement
The helmet should NOT move independently
of the player’s head. Here’s a quick test: give
the bill of the helmet a solid tap while the
player is wearing it. The helmet shouldn’t
move. If it does, the helmet is too big.
