Installation Tips & General Instructions:
How to fit and install the proper universal mud flap for your vehicle
1. Measuring: We recommend taking a few measurements prior to purchasing our universal mud flaps as this will help ensure that you
get the correct mud flap the first time. Please refer to the table on Page 3 for universal mud flap dimensions.
Ground Clearance: Measure the vertical distance between the bottom of the wheel well and the ground to find the mud flap that is the proper length so it’s not too long or too short. Image 1
Rear Inner Fender: The horizontal distance between the edge of the wheel well and the leaf spring, making sure the mud flap doesn’t touch or rub the leaf springs. Image 2
Front Fender: There should be about an inch of clearance between the tire and the mud flap, to prevent rubbing while turning.
Generally trucks equipped with wheel sizes of 17” or greater should check our Custom Hybrid Mud Flaps for a
model specific application.
2. Place the mud flap on the wheel well lip and lift to desired height. Image 3
Note: Recommended minimum height is 6”-8” off the ground.
3. On most vehicles, the edge of the mud flap will be on the edge or slightly out from the edge of the wheel well lip as shown. Image 4
4. Using the pre-drilled top hole as a guide, drill a ³∕16” hole into the metal wheel well lip.
Note: For proper installation ensure the mud flap is attached to metal.
Hint: The pre-drilled hole is for a guide only. Depending on the application, drilling into a different location may be required.
5. Adjust the mud flap so that is it square to the truck fender and the ground.
Hint: Using a square will ensure the mud flap is parallel to the ground.
6. Drill the remaining holes needed from top to bottom to secure the mud flap to the vehicle’s wheel well lip, ensuring the mud flap
remains square to the fender at each step.

Question: Are brackets necessary to install universal mud flaps?
Answer: No, brackets are not necessary. They are available to help improve and strengthen the fit of our mud flaps on specific trucks.
