User’s Guide
The News Media Yellow Book is designed to help you access the information you need quickly and
accurately. The directory is divided by media type into 10 sections (News Services, Newspapers,
Networks, Television Stations, Radio Stations, Programs, Periodicals, Non-U.S. Media, Publishers,
and Biographical Appendix) in which organizations are listed alphabetically by their official name.
Many listings will follow the structure and contain the same features as the sample shown below.
Some will differ, however, based on media type.
1 The General Information section begins
with the organization’s official name, as well
as the name of the organization’s owner. This
is followed by the organization’s physical and
mailing address, telephone and fax numbers,
e-mail and Internet addresses. Bulleted
information providing specific details such as
the organization’s editorial content, circulation
figures, editorial deadline, and lead time may
also appear, as well as a listing of the different
types of media outlets that are owned or
affiliated with the main media organization.
2 The Chief Editorial Officer section contains
a photograph of the organization’s chief
editorial officer, with his or her full name,
exact title, and educational background, and
career.
1
5
2
3
3 The News Executives section lists the top
executives of the organization hierarchically.
Officers with the same title are listed
alphabetically. This section features the
officer’s name and exact title, including
functional area. Direct-dial telephone number,
fax number, e-mail address and educational
background are also listed, when available.
4 The Administrative Services section lists
managers of the departments of circulation,
information systems, libraries and
information centers, public relations, and
recruitment. Information includes the
manager’s full name, title, direct-dial
telephone number, and e-mail address.
4
5 The Headings listed under the News
Executives section include departments,
news desks, bureaus and sections whose staff
report directly to the individuals listed in
the News Executives section. Features here
include the address (if different from that
of the headquarters) and the main telephone
and fax numbers for the department.
Individuals are listed with their exact titles,
direct-dial telephone numbers, fax numbers,
e-mail addresses and educational background.
Bulleted data describing the specific function
of the department may also appear.
