& Health Center
‘Jump for the Children’ benefiting Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center . . . Welcome to the 30th
Anniversary of a great horse show of top AA Hunters and Grand Prix Jumpers and the 30th year of our commitment to making a difference in the lives of the children at Duke Children’s Hospital!! As the longest continuously running fundraiser for Duke Children’s, ‘Jump for the Children’ has raised over $1.6 million for Duke
Children’s Hospital & Health Center since the show’s beginning in 1984.
We have so many to thank for 30 years of a horse show that continues to believe in “Making Miracles Happen for the Children”!! We thank the founder of the show, Pat LaFevers Holsten, and our many sponsors,
friends and committee members, who have been with us through the years. The 2013 ‘Jump for the Children’
Horse Show will be a show that thanks and recognizes so many for their work and commitment!!
The 2013 ‘Jump for the Children’ Horse Show will be the best ever!! We are honored to host the $10,000
USHJA International Hunter Derby, sponsored by Dr. Betsee Parker & Huntland, as our Feature Class on
Friday, just following the Duke Stick Horse Race!! We welcome great hunters and their riders and owners as
they show in the inaugural USHJA International Hunter Derby at ‘Jump for the Children’. And, a big thanks to
Dr. Betsee Parker and Huntland for the sponsorship!!
We thank our hunter and jumper exhibitors and trainers who put the Duke show on their fall calendar each
year. As in the 2012 show, we will offer more prize money in the AA hunters and new for 2013 is the USHJA
Pre-Green Hunter Incentive Stake Classes!! And, more “Good News”!! The Welcome Jumper Stake, the
Feature Class on Thursday evening, will offer more prize money - $10,000!! And, not to be missed, is the
‘Jump for the Children’ Leadline Class highlighting our future equestrians, followed by the thrilling $30,000
Duke Children’s Grand Prix on Saturday evening!!
Thank you for your continued support of ‘Jump for the Children’ and Duke Children’s Hospital & Health
Center. Please take a few minutes to read Jack’s story on the inside front cover, “A Heart to Care – A Duke
Children’s Patient Story”. Stories like Jack’s are the driving force, the passion, behind our continued commitment to Duke Children’s. We truly know that ‘Jump for the Children’ is not just another horse show, but
a horse show that makes a difference!!
We look forward to seeing you at ‘Jump for the Children’, November 5-10!!
