The Fort Myers Film Festival’s 3rd annual festival will be held March 21-24, 2013 at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall, Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center, Alliance for the Arts, Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre with parties and afterparties all over town. The Black Tie Red Carpet Gala will be celebrated with excitement and style Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall at 7 p.m. with a film straight from Sundance— “When I Walk” by Jason DaSilva and a lifetime achievement award to James Pergola. The event will begin with the red carpet rolling out, paparazzi clicking and doors opening at 5:30 p.m. for drinks, mingling & musical entertainment with local and international filmmakers prior to the featured movie. Tickets are $19, or $99 for VIP star studded backstage afterparty with attending filmmakers, stars, music, dancing, open bar and event VIP. The event will provide the delicious foods from La trattoria Cafe Napole, White Pear Catering in Bonita Springs, Irresistible Confections and Lush Bakery. To buy tickets go to www.bbmannpah.com. Finish off the weeklong celebration Sunday, March 24, 2013 with champagne & dessert awards ceremony which will take place at 7 p.m. at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre in Fort Myers with an afterparty to follow at Firestone’s. A final film will be played, awards will be handed out and finalists will grace the red carpet in the newly refurbished theater. Champagne and dessert will be shared, short award winning films will be played and toasts will be deservedly pronounced. Charcoal figures are being forced to ink its own shape onto the facing side as we flip and draw from page to page, formed almost identical silhouettes, bleeding versions of the mirrored figures. Project Tolerance (15m, U S A) Directed by Rusty Farst Project Tolerance features the stories of local people in Southwest Florida and their personal battles with intolerance. It is narrated by the creators of Project Tolerance Sanibel artist Myra Roberts and Fort Myers journalist Ella Nayor. The two created Project Tolerance as a way to inspire compassion and greater understanding in the Southwest Florida community and beyond. Imagine (30m, U S A) Directed by Jonathan Steven Green & Jahanara Saleh A physiological drama, is about John Morris (Scott Wolf, T.V. Star form ‘V’ and Party of five), a paramedic, who lives under a cloud of guilt after being unable to save his daughters life. House (4m, Germany, Jordan) Directed by Ahmad Saleh This film tells the story of a house being overtaken and occupied by people who have arrived as guests. Bit by bit, the original owners are being pushed out of their house and lose their home, as well as the very foundations of their existence. Paramount (5m, U S A) Directed by Si Wen Sui Paramount is a short 3D animation that shows the affection, connection and complex feelings between a mother and daughter during a specific dramatic time. Through closeness, misunderstanding, fighting, separating, regret, missing, and reunion, the story explores the connection between love and hate, cherishing and regret. Aida (22m, India, France) Directed by Pierre Friquet A young Ethiopian woman runs away from her tyrannic father and lands up in the unknown city of Bombay with no money contact while she was on her way to meet her lover, in Antarctica. It’s about a princess with no kingdom, a soul seeking for a fitting space. FRI. 3.22 @ 3 p.m. Reflection (2m, U S A) Directed by Todd Boruff A depressed woman’s morning routine is altered when she finds an unusual item in her prescription bottle. The film is rotoscope animated using pencil on paper. Radio Love (70m, Japan) Directed by Hideyuki Tokigawa A charismatic radio DJ in Hiroshima, is so disillusioned he wants to quit his job. The years have drained all the passion he had for speaking into a microphone and it’s all he can do to turn up for work every day without being drunk. But then a series of strange events that revolve around even stranger characters occur, and he is forced to a realization. His heart opens to the invisible connection between the radio and the people of Hiroshima in a magical way. FRI. 3.22 @ 4:20 p.m. Daddy? White Out (8m, U S A) Directed by Madison Absher Trying to keep a relationship from falling apart Emily starts a cocaine habit along with her fiance Kevin. Soon enough they run out of their fix and that’s when things take a turn for the worst. The Itch (4m, United Kingdom) Directed by Nicole Paglia A man suffering from an unbearable case of itchiness consults a doctor for help. He recounts the bizarre tale of his attempts to cure himself with a series of increasingly desperate ‘home remedies’. INK (4m, Russian Federation) Directed by Dmitry Puzyrev Colored Ink-girl falls in love with blackwhite advertising photo of agent in magazine, experiences difficulties, and finally comes happy end. BFF Zombie (23m, U S A) Directed by Fedor Steer Living in the swamps of south Florida, Skylar is bored. There’s not much to do for the teenage girl except text people on her phone and spend timing thinking about who should be her BFF. Is it Heather, or is it Julie? FRI. 3.22 @ 7:00 p.m. A Short Film (3m, U S A) Directed by Rick Williamson The epitome of a short western film with short actors, short horses and long credits. Choosing Fate (13m, U S A) by Dale Metz ‘Choosing Fate’ A family man races to disarm a bomb attached to his daughter’s neck to prevent her from becoming a victim of his dark past. “Miss Conception” (30m, U S A) Directed by Karl Bergstrom ‘Miss Conception’ is a campy short film about a New York Art Gallery employee who decides to steal from her boss in order to move across the country to start her own art gallery. Her plan unravels during her journey to buy art in Florida when her assistant Timothy discovers her plan. The consequences of her greedy actions lead to disaster. Bridal Boys Company (6m, U S A) Directed by Josh Evangelista The Bridal Boys Company’s most recent gig goes horribly wrong when poor phone reception leads them to end up planning a wedding not only for the wrong house - but for a house supposed to be preparing for a funeral. Skin (8 min, U.S.A. ) Directed by Jordana Spiro A young taxidermist and small town loner is entranced by a girl who finds his work beautiful. Just as their relationship begins to progress, he does something that drastically changes everything. Straight from Sundance. Loose Ends (18m, U S A) Directed by Donald Reynolds Loose Ends is the story of a group of seemingly unconnected couples that are forced to attend a group therapy session unaware of what their stories have in common. A thrilling tale following an Irish Prize fighter who fled to America with his family to escape from the boxing underworld. However, Mick soon finds he is met with a question... what would you do to save your family? Cinderella 3.0 (8m, Germany) Directed by Sebastian Harrer In a not too distant future Cinderella3.0 and New Bond met in a chat room. They seem to describe themselves in boundless exaggerations. But the bio technical possibilities to design a one night stand in the future are endless bizarre - a paradise for sexual fantasies and preferences. The Compound (9m, U S A) Directed by Pat Mitchell I’m Free. Free from what? Social Butterfly / (12 min France, U.S.A.) Directed by Lauren Wolkstein When a 30-year-old American woman attends a teenage party in the south of France, guests wonder who she is and what she is doing there. Straight from Sundance. Feet (2m, United Kingdom, U S A) Directed by Mohammad Reza Kazemi Feet have expressions like face. This film tells the story of the feet of a women who is living happily. But one night she becomes the victim of a rape and later commits suicide.
