This operation manual has been created especially for you, with al necessary information for
an easy and safe operation, maintenance and service.
The manufacturor always takes care for further developments of the machine: so we put our
effort on keeping this manual up to date. We are sorry for any inconvenience if the latest
amendments might not occur in this manual yet.
Please read this manual carefully and get familiar to this machine before you start operation,
so you avoid serious problems with the machine as well as health injuries!
Only regular and careful maintenance as well as professionally ensures easy, safe and
economic operation.
The manufacturor will not take over any expenses or responsibilities for any damage, injury
or loss created by misuse of this machine or disregard of orders shown in this manual.

1. General machine description
This machine is a combined planer for planing as well as thicknessing operations.
The fence is flexible and can be tilted up to 45°.
The front cover of the planing spindle can also be adjusted directly.
The flexible cover mounted on the rear side of the fence will cover the knives automatically
when the fence is adjusted.
For thicknessing the machine is equipped with a direct adjustable table and an additional
feeder operating separately.

2. Safety instructions
Warning:
At any case of maintenance, service or installation, the power has to be locked
off!
Use this machine for applications it is foreseen only!
Never exceed maximum tool speeds!
Make sure the machine is switched off when connected to electricity!
If acoustic communication to other working areas is needed, combine with
optical indicators.
Failure to follow these instructions and warnings can result in serious injuries
or death.
KNOW YOUR MACHINE!
Read and understand this operating manual carefully, and stick to the safety instructions,
before you start working with this machine.
MIND ELECTRICITY!
All electric installations are to be made by authorised personnel only!
Never run this machine in damp or wet areas, never expose machine to rain or deep
temperatures.
GROUND ALL TOOLS!
Use professional sharpened tools only! Never use broken or blunt knives! Blunt or broken
tools give bad working results, can override the machine and increase recoil possibility.
Always change the whole set of knives, never use knives less than 20 mm.
HANDLE WORKPIECE WITH CARE!
Sphenoid workpieces: feed with thick end into the machine first!
Check workpiece for loose parts, (e.g. nails, branch,...) or other alien elements.
KEEP GUARDS IN PLACE!
Never work without security knives or guards instructed by the manufacturor operating
Check all safety devices before you start to work with this machine. Always use guards when
needed (eye or hearing protection,..)
KEEP WORK AREA CLEAN!
Always keep your working area and the machine clean. Take care for good lightening in the
working area. Remove all unnecessary items from the machine before working.
WEAR PROPER APPAREL!
Do not operated this machine with gloves! Never wear loose or wide clothing (sleeves,
shawls, etc..), gloves or loose long hair. Take off all juwellery (rings, bracelets, necklaces,
watches, etc..) before working with this machine.
KEEP CHILDREN AWAY!
Never let this machine run without supervision. Make sure children or other unauthorised
persons cannot operate it. Children under 16 and other unauthorised persons have to be
supervised by an authorised person when operating this machine.
Make sure this machine can only be operated by personnel familiar to this machine, with
mental ability to be aware of all security and injury risks.
3. Safety devices
All safety devices are built according to safety rules valid in the E.U..
This machine is equipped with the following safety devices:
a) Electronic motor brake
This will stop the machine within 10 sec. when the emergency stop is activated.
b) Knife-guard
Adjustable guard to cover shaving knives.
c) Fence
Tiltable 45°, for exact guidance of the workpiece. Shaving knives will be covered
automatically when the fence is adjusted.
d) Nonreturn flaps
Independent flaps to avoid recoil of the workpiece when thicknessing.
e) Chip guard with dust suction attachment
f)
Locking device
Avoids too thick chip removal and override of the machine.
g) Other small devices
For special operations we recommend other small devices as e.g. sliding stick, feeders,...
Always keep guards near machine!
4. Delivered items
The machine will be delivered mounted in standard execution, including the following parts:

5. How to use this machine
This planer and thicknesser is constructed to work with square wooden or similar materials
(chip boards, plywood,...) only!
Work pieces with big diameter, which cannot be taken by the nonreturn flaps, completely, or
diameters, which do not rest on the table properly when planing, may not be worked in this
machine!
WARNING:
Do not use this machine for plastic, rubber or similar materials, this can
damage the knives and increase recoil!
6. Before you start operation
6.1 Cleaning
Clean all parts covered with rust inhibitor with kerosene or similar.
WARNING:
Do not use nitro or other solvents, never use water!
6.2 Set up
The machine must be set up on a flat, solid and horizontal floor.
Use set screws on machine legs to adjust the machine to horizontal position.
6.3 Wiring and electricity
All electric installations are to be made by electric personnel only!
Check operating direction of spindle by short switching on.
Have the wiring changed by electric personnel when the direction is wrong.
Make sure zero- and earth line are available!
WARNING:
Always use the main machine switch to shut off the machine!
Never shut off the machine just by pulling the plug!
7. Workpiece dimension
Do not exceed the maximum sizes of 1800 x 410 mm.
Use roll feeder or table enlargements to support the workpiece.
Use additional devices for workpieces smaller than 450 x 50 x 3 mm
(feeder, sliding stick,...) to feed into the machine.
Thicknessing:
Do not exceed the maximum sizes of 1800 x 410 mm.

8. Operation
8.1 Planing
Warning: Switch off the machine by using the main switch before changing the machine
operation from thicknessing to planing.
Never shut off the machine by lifting one part of the table!!!!
The planing-unit consists of the following parts:

After loosening clamp screw 15, push or lift handle 14 to set table 12 to the chip thickness
you need, adjustment dimensions will be shown on scale 13.
Table 2 has been adjusted from the manufacturor.
The fence 11 can be tilted from 90° to 45°, and can be adjusted smoothly in any width
needed after loosening screw 9.
WARNING:
Check and tighten all clamp screws securedly after all adjustments!
Guards 7 and 16 are to cover the part of cutting spindle not needed during an
operation.
The front guard 7 has to be adjusted by hand, the rear guard 16 will be
adjusted automatically by the fence
WARNING:
1. Mind working direction
2. Take care your hands are in the correct position
3. Cover knives at any time
4. Never put your hands behind/under the rear knife guard
5. Never push the workpiece with your fingertips or knuckles
6. Use devices for small workpieces (e.g. sliding stick..)
7. Check the workpiece carefully for nails, loose branches, stones.
8. For uneven surfaces, start with a small chip removal.
9. Stop feeding immediately in case of power failure (electricity failure, torn belts,...)

Always use feed devides, when planing narrow or short workpieces (e.g. push stick,..)
WARNING:
Never touch the planer spindle!
Always keep the left hand behind the planer spindle, push the workpiece
forward with the right hand until the near planer spindle, then take over with
the left hand!
Always support/guide the workpiece from top!
Planing wide workpieces
Push fence 11 only as far as the planer spindle will be used .
Push knife guard 7 forward to fence 11 (max. distance 8 mm) and lift to the thickness of the
workpiece.
Push the workpiece under knife guard 7 and let the knife guard rest on the workpiece.
(see pic. 6)
Press the workpiece to the table with both hands and smoothly push forward over the planer
spindle.
Always cross your hands over knife guard 7!! (see pic. 7)

To avoid override of machine, always work with little chip removal, low feeding rates and well
ground planer knives!

Changing machine to thicknessing
Switch the machine off by using the main switch.
Push fence 11 to very rear position (see pic. 1).
Cover the planer spindle (pic. 8) with front knife guard 7 (see pic.1)
Unlock table 1 (pic. 1) by turning and pulling handle 4 (pic. 1) and open up table.
Unlock table 12 (pic. 1) by turning and pulling handle 8 (pic. 1) and open up the table.
Lift dust suction hood 17 (pic. 9) and fix the suction hose.
Loosen lock handle 19 (pic. 9) and adjust thickness by turning handwheel 20 (pic 9)
according to scale 18 (pic. 9).
To start the feeder, use handle 22 (pic. 9).
HINTS:
1. Adjust thicknessing table to the needed height and lock with the handle!!
2. Put the handle for the feeder in the upper (off-) position.
3. Start the machine and start the feeder.
4. Turn the workpiece and place it with the smooth side on the thicknessing table, push
forward until it will reach the in–roller.
WARNING:
Always feed the thick end of the workpiece first.
If the workpiece gets stuck, reduce the chip thickness!
Use a separate feeder, table enlargement or another device to support
workpieces longer than 1500 mm.
See operation manual point 7 for min./max. workpiece dimensions.
9. Planer knives
9.1 Taking out planer knives (pic. 10)
Safeguard machine against operation –pull plug!
Open up both tables 1 and 12.
Loosen clamp screw 5.
Take out knives 3 and key ledges 4 from planer spindle.
9.2 Mouning planer knives
9.2.1 Strip knives
Strip knives are tools with only one cutting edge, which can be ground when blunt.
Clean all parts carefully, as e.g. slots in planer spindle N, key ledges 4, springs 2, clamp
screw 5. (pic. 10)
Put key ledges 4 and knives 3 into the slots of planer spindle W.
Use a wooden ledge to press the knife against springs 2, take care that all springes are in
the center hole at the end of the slot.
Set the gauge over the slot on each end of the planer spindle (the magnetic foot sticks to the
spindle).
Slowly reduce the pressure on the knife, till edge touches the gauge.
Fix the knife with the key ledge by turning clamp screw 5 to the left.
9.2.2 Adjust knives by using a self-made gauge
Put the table B in the normal position and put the gauge beside the clamp screw.
Turn the planer spindle clockwise, the knife touches and pushes the gauge forward.
(correct adjustment 2-4 mm)
Push the knife in, when the gauge is pushed forward too far, pull out the knife when the
gauge is not pushed far enough.
Repeat adjustment procedure with the next clamp screw, then fix all inside and outside
clamp screws.
(Turning moment 9 Nm)
Avoid unintentional shifting – check adjustments with gauge!
WARNING:
- The projection of the knife edge over the table surface should be approx. 0.2 mm.
- Max. projection may not exceed 1.0 mm!
- Always change the complete set of knives!
- Never use knives beneath 20 mm of width, this may cause recoil!
- Tighten the clamp screws carefully!
9.2.3. Reverse knives
Reverse knives are tools with edges on opposite sides.
When one edge is blunt, just turn the knife to use the other edge.
After using up both edges the knife has to be changed, grinding is not possible.
Reverse knives are fixed in the right height by the manufacturor.
When mounting the knives, just push them against the stop and clamp them.
10. Maintenance
WARNING:
Safeguard the machine against operation before maintenance.
In case of vibrations, check the adjustments of the knives according to points 9.2.1 and 9.2.2
Contact the manufacturor if necessary.
10.1 Lubrication
Lubricate the ways of the tables regurarly, using machine oil.
Lubricate column of the thicknessing table monthly, using machine grease.
10.2 Re-tightening
Check chain- and belt tensions at least monthly, and tighten if necessary.
10.3 Check motor brake
This machine is equipped with an electronic motor brake. The time from turning off the
machine until the stop of the planer spindle, may not exceed 10 sec.
This brake time should be checked monthly.
Have the motor brake checked by an electrician, when the brake time exceeds 10 sec.!!
The switch intensity should be max. 10 x per hour.
10.4 Nonreturn flaps
When lifting the flaps, each flap should be free to fall back into the original position.
Make sure the flaps have a cone point to avoid recoil.
Clean and loosen sticky and blocked flaps, change broken flaps!
11. Electric execution
11.1 Security instructions
All electric installations are to be made by authorised personnel only!
Make sure zero- and earth line are available!
Check the operating direction of the spindle by short switching on .
Have the wiring changed by electric personnel when the direction is wrong.
Use 10A slow blow fuses.
Never connect directly to the electricity – always use CEE-plugs!!
Never shut off the machine by cutting off from the electricity, because in this case the motor
brake will not operate!
Never run this machine in damp or wet areas, never expose the machine to rain or deep
temperatures.
11.2 Switch & plug-combination with motor brake
According to security instructions, equipped with minimum stress switch and electronic motor
brake.
Operation of minimum stress switch.
In case of electric failure the switch will operate, when electricity comes back again the
machine has to be switched on again.
Electronic motor brake:
The time from turning off the machine until the stop of the planer spindle may not exceed 10
sec..
Have the motor brake checked by an authorised electrician when the brake time exceeds 10
sec.!!

13. Warranty
There is a warranty of 12 months after the delivery of the machine.
Warranty includes clearing of all defects reducing proper operation of this machine.
For claims please contact your dealer. Make detailed written claims only.
Warranty expires, when the claim was caused by alternations by unauthorised personnel or
using parts of foreign origin.
Warranty further expires due to failures to operator’s instructions for maintenance and the
operation of this machine.
Warranty further definitely excludes damages caused by improper or negligent handling.
After warranty expiry, all repairs can be done by experts on buyer’s expense.
