The foundations of CW had been set and it was time to usher it into its next phase of development. Challenge or not, I relished it! I was incredibly fortunate to find myself working alongside more than 100 amazing individuals up and down the country who were determined to ensure that we kept aiming for the stars. (Stars... Get it?... Never mind) and in turn they really did drive the project forward masha’Allah. It’s safe to say the one word I would use to describe this year’s campaign is “balance.” Balance between being too corporate and structured or welcoming and unstructured. Balance between too much unhealthy competition and not enough competition for the good. Balance between talking about unity and the actual incremental unity we are able to produce. CW2014 has indeed been all about balance. But it’s also been about team work, friendship, hard work, the orphans and needy children and of course the ingredient that gives CW its flavour: fun. I feel blessed to have been a part of it, I pray that you did too. Mariam Kadodia - Charity Week UK National Director I heard someone say that anything that you do purely for the sake of Allah, Allah swt will always find ways to continue it no matter what. Alhamdullilah, with only a minimal increase in the number of participating institutions, we managed to double the amount raised from year 1. This truly would not have been possible without His blessings first and foremost and of course, that blessing is translated into our dedicated and committed team, along with the support we receive from Islamic Relief year after year. All this combined only makes our craving for the success of unity across the world through Charity Week that much stronger, day by day, year by year. Aisha Khaja - Charity Week Canada National Director It was a dream come true to be involved in Charity Week. Organizing Charity Week in Qatar for the first time was an exciting gamble, with a core team of one mentor, 6 extremely self-driven individuals, 3 dedicated University teams, super volunteers, and two sponsors. Unity has dividends beyond measure. We are extremely grateful to Allah, the CW team in the UK and Canada for unbelievable consistent support and motivation throughout the way. Sultana Jesmine - Charity Week Qatar National Director 3 Temply Week Charity AnnualAnnual ReportReport 2015 2014 The Charity Week UK Teams Charity Week is not an institution, not a concept nor a “thing” at all. It is a living, breathing and acting body of people who have stepped forward to work for a vision. Here at Charity Week we believe that every penny we are given by Islamic Relief towards the budget is the heaviest amanah. We don’t believe that we are “owed” anything for helping to raise money or to bring about the vision of unity. It is a privilege to simply be part of it.
