With its polo-inspired theme,
a royalty-worthy four-poster
with gauzy bed curtains, and
a dramatic black-and-white
scheme, Joy Tribout's elegant
guest bedroom feels fit for
a king. "My inspiration came
from the polo fields in the
Hamptons," says Tribout.
"We used a bridle-inspired
light fixture over the bed,
table lamps made from old
riding boots. framed horse
bits as art. and a series of
black-and-white photographs
of polo players." The palette
was a natural progression.
"The white-painted bed
was the starting point. Then I
painted the walls black to
create a strong backdrop for
it," adds Tribout. "We
shouldn't be afraid to use
black. It's simple and elegant."

While just one of the vibrant color
choices in the bedroom designed by
Tobi Fairley might send neutral-loving
color-phobes running for the hills,
the designer not only embraces jade
green, bright coral, and chartreuse,
she encourages them to play happily
together. "Creating unique color
combinations is my favorite thing,"
says Fairley. "I started with the jade,
found a color that supported it well
1 (the coral), and then kept things
punchy and unexpected with the
chartreuse accents. Plus, everyone
looks gorgeous and has a healthy
• glow when surrounded by coral!"
