SEVEN

SECURE 2015
ASIAN TOUR
CARDS
BY MICHAEL COURT
Former PGA Tour winner Daniel Chopra of Sweden
topped the class but for seven Australians, the Asian
Tour beckons in 2015 after the completion of Final
Stage Qualifying in Hua Hin, Thailand.
NSW’s Matthew Giles was the best of the Australians
finishing in 5th position, seven behind Chopra.
South Australian Paul Spargo (pictured), who
contended strongly at the Australian Masters last
November, was in 9th position ahead of Jarrod
Freeman (21st), Jake Stirling (22nd), Peter Stojanovski
(25th), Josh Younger (41st) and Jun Seok Lee (43rd) of
the 47 players who earned their cards.
For 41-year old Chopra, his four-stroke win allows
him the opportunity to rejuvenate a career which at
its peak saw him win twice on the PGA Tour in 2007
and 2008.
“I am feeling more relieved now. It has been tough
for me for the past few years. It’s good that I
belonged somewhere again.” Chopra said.
“I’ve learnt and crafted my game in Asia and it’s a
place I would always call home.”
“I can’t wait to start playing out here. Winning the
Qualifying School makes me feel that I can win on
Tour again.”
The Asian Tour season will commence in a few
weeks time at the Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur
from Feb 5-8, where there were already 11 exempt
Australians entered prior to the completion of the

‘RETIREE’ OH
SNATCHES
MOSS VALE
CLASSIC
MOSS VALE CLASSIC | ALPG TOUR
BY PAUL PRENDERGAST
A brilliant 9-under par 64 from Sarah Oh in the
second and final round was enough to snatch a one
stroke victory in the ALPG’s Moss Vale Ladies Classic
on Friday.
Oh began the final round today four shots behind
overnight leader Whitney Hillier but leapt into
contention with birdies on the 1st, 4th and then four
straight from the 7th.
Oh added further birdies at the 13th, 15th and 17th to
sign for a scintillating round and an anxious wait for
the rest of the leading groups to finish.
NSW’s Sarah Kemp ended up a stroke shy at 11under, giving the recent retiree from the full-time
circuit the title.
Oh had split her time between the ALPG and Korean
circuits but had decided to step away from the fulltime grind recently, noting:
“I need a break from golf, I want to stay in the
industry but do something different.”
Kemp’s third consecutive high finish this season
extended her already substantial lead in the 2015
Club Car Series, which she also won in 2014.
The ALPG Tour heads to Sydney for the $25,000
Renault Ladies Classic at Castle Hill Country Club
on 29th January, where Oh‘s ‘retirement’ will again
be put on the backburner as she tees up against a
hot field which will include American Beth Allen and
the ever popular Laura Davies.

The all-new G30 LS Tec (Low-Spin Technology)
driver offers a unique combination of low, stable
spin with a high MOI for added distance with
accuracy and control.
A sole weight positions the CG extremely low and
back (slightly forward of the standard G30 driver) to
generate low, stable spin (approximately 400 rpm
less) with a high MOI for exceptional flight control
and distance on off-centre performance.
Turbulator Technology on the crown reduces
aerodynamic drag on the downswing to help
increase clubhead speed, and the thin T9S titanium
face increases ball velocity for more distance.
Using Trajectory Tuning+ Technology, players can
add or subtract up to 1 degree of loft. The highbalance-point TFC 419D shaft has a CG closer to the
grip end, promoting a simultaneous increase in the
clubhead’s energy, momentum and inertia.
Lofts: 9° & 10.5° (5 settings: Standard, +0.6º, +1º, -0.6º,
-1º)

RELEASES
ALL-NEW XR
DRIVER
Speed is the driving force behind the new XR Driverfrom the aerodynamic crown to the RMOTO face
and maximum shaft load. Callaway’s R&D team
traveled down a new path to make the company’s
fastest titanium driver ever.
To reduce drag and maximise speed through the
swing, Callaway engineers designed a Speed Step
Crown and combined it with an optimised
aerodynamic head shape. The weight of the face was
reduced by 10% to make it thinner for faster ball
speeds.
And Callaway’s RMOTO leads to more energy
efficient energy transfer all over the face, allowing
for the centre of gravity (CG) to be placed 17% lower,
where most golfers want it. The XR Driver comes
stock with the new Project X LZ, which produces
maximum shaft load during the downswing for
greater energy transfer to the ball.
OptiFit Adjustability allows golfers to choose from
eight different loft and lie configurations to find the
perfect launch for your ball flight.
Available: February 20, 2015
Recommended Retail Price: $449.99
Lofts: 9°, 10.5°, 12°, 13.5°

PUTTERS
The #1 Putter in Golf’s new high performance
technology platform, Odyssey Works, features the
new Fusion RX insert, which takes the best selling,
best feeling, most trusted insert (that’s won more
majors than any insert ever) and adds extreme roll.
The new Fusion RX Insert couples the White Hot
insert backer with an ultra-thin stainless steel mesh,
along with Odyssey’s patented Metal-X roll pattern.
That combination delivers extreme roll and feel
from an insert with no compromises.
Odyssey Works is available in the following models
January 30, 2015:
2-Ball Fang
The most accurate 2-Ball of all-time. Stability brings
accuracy via the High MOI, Low centre of gravity
design design with the perimeter-weighted fangs.
V-Line
With Big-T alignment that delivers the best of both
worlds from our revolutionary Versa and Versa 90
alignment
Arm Lock (#1 Wide head shape)
Uses the putter as an extension of your arm to
promote a smooth, reliable stroke.
Tank (#1 Wide, #7, Rosie, 2-Ball Fang head shapes)
Counterbalance weight, heavier heads and heavier
shafts to quiet the hands during the stroke. Added
weight raises MOI to give more stability through
impact and engages the big muscles to promote a
more pendulum stroke that helps keep the wrists
from breaking down.
All Tank models feature SuperStroke Grip in 35” and
38”.
Pricing
• All SuperStroke Grip Putters: $279 AUD
• All Standard Grip Putters: $249 AUD
