Feel Free
Black Heel Marks return from never having been away with their debut long play recording, Feel Free. The
songs clang and gyrate in the uncomfortable brackish of electrified digital rock and roll, petulant synthesizer
nag and calculated superstardom.
Feel Free was produced and directed by Don Pyle (The Filthy Gaze of Europe / Shadowy Men on a Shadowy
Planet), with electrified guitars by Wilmer Henderson III (Girl Trouble), Jonny Dovercourt (Republic of Safety),
Dallas Good (The Filthy Gaze of Europe / The Sadies), Sandro Perri (Polmo Polpo), Kevan Byrne (King Cobb
Steelie) and Dave Evans (Soupcans). Kevin Lynn (King Cobb Steelie / Minotaurs) and Patti Schmidt (Nanobot
Auxiliary Ballet) play electrified bass. Patti also sings, as does KP Kendall (Girl Trouble), and Alanna Stuart
(Bonjay). Tony Malone (Drastic Measures) plays some keyboards and DP lashes out with synthesizers, drums and other appurtenances.
The CD is encased in a mini-LP style jacket with gatefold and paper inner sleeve. Cover art features cfaal 113 by Jessica Eaton, from her photo series
Cubes for Albers and LeWitt. Derek von Essen designed the package, and mastering was done by Peter J Moore. Wrik Mead and DP direct Feel Free’s
first music video, “Switch” is out.

Emie R Roussel Trio performs with passion, creativity and sensitivity. They deliver modern but accessible
jazz, skillfully blending European and North American influences. Their first release, Temps Inégal, rose to
third place in the top 5 jazz albums of the 2012 named by Sorties Jazz Nights. The second album for the
Emie R Roussel Trio, Transit, includes Nicolas Bédard on bass, Dominique Cloutier on drums, along with
Quatuor St-Germain and percussionist Julie Quimper.
Transit merges the sounds and aesthetics of a string quartet with those of a jazz trio. Combined, their music
provide as much power and intensity as they do intimacy. Percussion elements usually associated with orchestra music, such as timpani drums and tubular bells, are added to the mix. The challenge was to blend the colours of the trio and the string quartet
to create a seamless whole. In this spirit of symbiosis, the strings have a more melodic and rhythmical dimension, rather than simply a backup role.
So, here, along our path, is a stopover, a transit.

This is the debut album from Gilberto Gil, first released in Brazil in 1967, at a time when Gil was a man already at the height of his creative powers and yet barely a few years into his career. In 1967 Gil was already
established as a Bossa Nova star in Brazil and had helped launch Musica Popular Brasileira, introducing
traditional northern folkloric styles into the urban bossa nova style to create a new hybrid that effectively
defined Brazilian popular music for the next 25 years. This album showed how confident Gil was in his musical inventiveness. As well as the title track, the album includes seminal tracks that have become classics

Burns was never likely to stop exploring her private musical landscape—something she does here with
the aid of producers Colin Stewart and the Raveonettes’ Sune Rose Wagner. Sonically, The Midnight Mass
is like Mellow Drama after it was shoved through the fifth dimension in a TARDIS. First single “Emerald
Shatter” is draped in the heaviest of synths; electric clouds of buzz devour roiling post-punk drums in “The
Artist”; “Mother of Earth” literally sounds like charged fog.
