and showers within the cabin, while others are just a short
walk to the village bathhouses.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
Entering Grades 10-11
OVERVIEW
Through our leadership development programs we
build the social skills, confidence, and leadership
skills of every camper. Our two programs are designed to help each participant gain the interpersonal and leadership skills they will need in their futures.
Leaders-In-Training (L.I.T.):
2 Weeks - Grade 10
Counselors-In-Training (C.I.T.):
4 Weeks - Grade 11
Counselors-In-Training is our ramped up version of the Leaders-In-Training program. Each
participant will go through a mock interview
requiring references to participate. This interview and application process is designed solely
to prepare and familiarize each member with a
traditional hiring process.
The Leaders-In-Training program offers a portion of
the traditional Camp experience while offering additional off-camp trips, leadership seminars, service
projects, American Red Cross First Aid and CPR
training, and staff mentoring.
Once our C.I.T.’s arrive on camp they receive
leadership training and seminars, American Red
Cross Lifeguard Training, in-cabin experiences
with our younger campers, volunteer and community service opportunities, and some amazing off-camp trips.
This combination of activities is designed to offer a
chance for each camper to share camp memories with
close friends while beginning to build the confidence
and skills needed for their professional futures.
Our most famous off-camp trip is our C.I.T. Appalachian Trail hike. This trip prepares each
participant for group planning and leadership
like no other.
Leaders-in-training can expect to leave the program
with, trip planning experience, leadership experiences, community service project experience, First Aid
and CPR Certifications, and some close new friends.
Counselors-In-Training can expect to leave
camp with, experience leading groups, more
self-confidence and independence, and a
chance to be selected as a Junior Counselor for
the following summer.

HORSEBACK RIDING
3 Ways to Enjoy the Ranch This Summer
For Campers Ages 7-17
Horse Lovers Camp (All Day– All Horses)
Lessons, games, horse care, crafts, swimming, barn chores and
teambuilding activities keep our Horse Lovers engaged all day!
Riding Lessons (1 Hour/Day)
Offered within the traditional summer camp daily schedule for
1 hour Monday-Friday. Riding Lessons offer a fun approach to
horseback riding that allows for other camper activities to fit
into your day as well. We focus on riding skills, including the
four natural aids, a good seat, confidence and all around horsemanship.
Riders Round-Up (3 Hours/Day)
Riders Round-Up is 3 hours of detailed riding lessons and
horse care every afternoon Monday-Friday. Riders Round-Up
also runs complementary to traditional summer camp.
9
All Riders Welcome
Riders of all experience levels—from beginners
who previously only admired horses from afar, to
those advanced riders who practically live in the
saddle — choose from English &/or Western riding
disciplines. Lessons are customized to ensure each
rider continues to strengthen their equine
knowledge and advance their riding skills.
Highly Qualified Staff
Our Ranch Staff are selected based on their personal riding experience and accomplishments, as
well as on demonstrated ability to connect with
and instruct riders of all ages and abilities. Ranch
Staff typically have competitive riding experience
and/or have professionally trained horses.
Our Ranch Staff boasts one of the highest rates of
staff retention and includes many who participated
in Camp Speers riding programs in the past.

DAY CAMP
Camp Speers Day Camp is open to ages 3-16 and is
offered from 9:00am-4:00pm each week. Our three
different programs within Day Camp allow for campers
to thrive age specific groups and activities. Each Day
Camp program offers a huge range of activities that
are proven to excite and engage our campers.
KINDER CAMP
Kinder Camp is available for our youngest campers
from Prek –Kindergarten. Groups have one Camp
Speers staff member for every 6 campers. This allows
our Kinder Campers to experience some of our favorite activities at their own pace.
Youth Camp
Campers grades 1-6 are placed in our Youth Camp.
Each Youth Camper is given the opportunity to choose
their own activities and hone their skills in each. Beginner and Advanced level activities, group games, and
camp overnights are offered to our Youth Campers.
11
TEEN CAMP
Our Oldest Campers, grades 7-10, are
offered the chance to experience all of
our great camp programs while also experiencing one off-camp trip per week.
Off-camp trips may include: a river rafting trip, waterfall hikes, museum tours,
and baseball games, among many others.
Teen camp is a great way for each
camper to make friends while experiencing challenging and fun activities along
the way.
