HEAD OF
SENIOR
SCHOOL
Mr Stewart Ross
JUMPING TO EXTRA HEIGHTS
Madeline Sinderberry has achieved
some outstanding results at the
Australian Equestrian Interschool
Championships
held
recently.
Madeline was awarded the Australian
Interschool’s Show jumping Champion
and the Finch Farms Trophy for the
athlete with the best overall result in
show jumping. She won the 1.10m and
1.20m Championships. Madeline was
also part of the NSW Team that won
the Championships Overall and Show
jumping Teams Trophy.
HICES DEBATING
This year was a great “season” for all
our debating teams. The Year 7 team
did extremely well making it to the second
knockout round. The Year 9 team made it
to the third round. The Year 8 team were
unfortunately knocked out in the final
round closely missing out on the Grand
Final. These results meant that the College
secured the title of runner-up for the most
successful school in the competition. A
wonderful achievement considering there
are around 50 HICES schools.
CHAMPION
Emma McCarthy in Year 10, won the
Junior Golf Classic at Bathurst last
weekend. She shot an 87 on the Sunday
round. With a handicap of 7 (making it
80 nett), it was not the best score she has
achieved but good enough to take out the
Championship on the day. Congratulations
Emma.
RUGBY
Congratulations to the following students,
Kelsey Khan, Teagan Miller and Hannah
Nobes who, after participating in the trials
at the Youth Girls U17s Talent Discovery
day at Orange Emus Rugby Club in week
October 22 2015
1, they have gained selection in the
Central West U17s - 7s Rugby Squad.
The girls will play in the NSW Youth
Girls State Championships in Coffs
Harbour on 7 November 2015. From this
Carnival two NSW State teams will be
selected to represent NSW in the National
invitational tournament in Wagga on 5
December 2015. We also hope Phoebe
Reynolds, who was selected as a shadow
player, may get a run. We wish them
success at the Tournament.
FAST FACT
An epidemic of laughing that lasted
almost a year broke out in Tanganyika
(now Tanzania) in 1962. Several
thousand people were affected, across
several villages. It forced a school to
close. It wasn’t fun, though — other
symptoms included crying, fainting,
rashes, and pain.
Thought:- Ask yourself this question:
“Will this matter a year from now?”

FROM THE
CHAPLAIN
College families supported. I have been encouraged
by the number of senior students who have come
to me to get their diaries signed for an ASC Award
after having served this appeal last year.
A CALL FOR HELP!
We are in need of one or two more volunteer
teachers to take on the responsibility of teaching
Christian Studies in the Junior School so that the
load can be shared. Please call or email me if you
think that you can help.
GOD”S LOVE FOR US
Indeed, rarely will anyone die for a righteous
person—though perhaps for a good person
someone might actually dare to die. But God
proves his love for us in that while we still were
sinners Christ died for us. (Romans 5:7-8, NRSV).
Chapel this week focused on God’s amazing and
overflowing love for us. The New Testament writers
are all in agreement that God’s love is best shown
to us in the person of Jesus, what he said, and,
more importantly, what he did. This understanding
was captured succinctly by Bob Dylan in the words
of his song “Make you feel my love.” This song has
been covered by Garth Brooks and, more recently,
by Adele.
Now I’m not saying that Dylan wrote this song
as anything but a love song, but if you imagine it
to be Jesus singing when you hear the words it
makes perfect sense. Reading some blogs about
the meaning of these words, many bloggers have
suggested it is about the person expressing their
utmost love but at the same time being totally
vulnerable as they face the possibility of rejection.

SHOEBOXES MAKE THE FIRST PART OF THEIR
JOURNEY
Our infants students got the Christmas boxes
off on the first part of their journey this week,
loading them into Rev Tony’s ute to go to the local
collection centre. This year we collected 134 boxes
which was a little down on the previous two years
but, judging by the weight of many of them, they
were jammed full of generous gifts. Thank you for
your support of this campaign again this year. (See
photos below).
2BS/BATHURST LIONS CHRISTMAS MIRACLE
APPEAL
Saints’ is again supporting this wonderful local
initiative to help make Christmas that little bit
brighter for many in the Bathurst community. Next
week we begin collecting non-perishable food
items to be packed into the hampers. We need to
focus on the following: no nuts, no glass, nothing
that’s out of date. Please support this as you are
able.
As we approach the end of term I will be letting
students know about the set up and packing day.
Last year we had a number of students come to
the Thursday set up day to get everything ready
for the Saturday packing day, which many of our

Jesus does just that. He reaches out to us but at the
same time faces rejection from us. Even if we hate
him, even if we reject him, he still loves us.
When the rain is blowing in your face And the whole world is on your case I would offer you a warm embrace To make you feel my love When the evening shadows and the stars appear And there is no one to dry your tears I could hold you for a million years To make you feel my love I know you haven’t made your mind up yet But I would never do you wrong I’ve known it from the moment that we met There’s no doubt in my mind where you belong I’d go hungry, I’d go blind for you I’d go crawling down the avenue There ain’t nothing that I wouldn’t do To make you feel my love Storms are raging on a rolling sea Down
the
highway
of
regret Winds of change are blowing wild and free, yeah huh But you ain’t seen nothing like me yet There ain’t nothing that I wouldn’t do Go to the ends of the earth for you Make you happy, make your dreams come true To make you feel my love
May you know, accept, and experience his love for
you.
With every blessing,
Rev. Tony Card.

not know God, for God is love. (1 John 4:8, NRSV)

Take Heart Australia Day 2015 is going
to be BIG
and we want you to take part in it!
En masse, people have done some pretty incredible things for Guinness World Records – they’ve danced with
umbrellas, dressed up as Smurfs and even impersonated Elvis.
Now we’re asking you to do something incredible too: learn CPR!
Take Heart Australia Day is about teaching people to save lives, and with over 500 Australians suffering a fatal sudden
cardiac arrest every week, the more people we train the better. So, on the 30th of November we’ll be hosting multiple
events across NSW in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most people trained in CPR within 24 hours.
All Saints’ College has been asked to host one of the regional events, so for one day we will endeavor to train as many
Students, Parents and members of the public as we can.
These free sessions will take around 30 minutes and are provided by qualified trainers. For more information please
contact the clinic on 02 6332 7300 or by email: sister@saints.nsw.edu.au.
Join us in making history, and more importantly – learn what to do when cardiac arrest strikes. In the end, all it takes to
save the life of another Australian is you and your two hands.
