Luggage Zipper Repair This fix is for the annoying split
Luggage Zipper Repair
This fix is for the annoying split zipper rendering the
pocket unusable. This method works for most zippers
so that you can put your bag back in business without
too much hassle or sending your bag in for repair.
Along with these pictures and instructions, you should
be able to get your zipper working again the way it
should.
Step 1. Starting out, you need to work the
slider over the open zipper to either where it
is closed, or the beginning of the zippered
pocket. Take a flat head screwdriver and
open the back end of the slider by using a
twisting motion. Be careful not to open too
much. Open the slider just enough, so that
you can to back the slider over the open
zipper, and to prevent damage to the zipper.
Step 2. Work the slider back over the
open portion to the end, OR to where
the zipper is closed.
ß
Step 3. Next, you will need to re-close
the slider so that it “squeezes” the
zipper closed. This is done by taking a
pair of pliers and pinching each side of
the slider.
4. Try operating the slider so that it closes the zipper normally. If the slider is
still not closing the zipper properly, repeat the above steps and apply a bit more
force.
5. If it is not a smooth operation, or if it seems too tight, you can loosen the
back end of the slider as shown in Step 1.
6. If this method does not work, inspect your zipper for damage. The zipper
may need to be replaced which can be done at most shoe/luggage repair shops
for under $10 (depending on the length of the zipper)
