2016 online camp guide - Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma
Preparing for
camp
Are you ready for camp?
Summer 2016 is shaping up to be another incredible
year of camping adventures! Whether she’s excited
to release her inner explorer with backpacking,
sharpen her aim with archery or collect evidence to
crack the case at “CSI Camp,” we’re confident your
Girl Scout will have a blast taking her leadership to a
whole new level in a way that’s as unique as she is!
Who can go to camp?
The GSWESTOK camping experience is available to all
girls entering grades 1 (minimum age: 6 years old
before June 1, 2016) through grade 12. Day camps
are the exception: you must be entering kindergarten to attend these. No prior camping experience is
required.
Can non-Girl Scouts attend camp?
Yes, all girls can come to camp! Non-Girl Scouts (or
shall we say, “pre-Girl Scouts”?) pay an additional
$15 membership fee. The fee covers their Girl Scout
membership for the summer. Girl Scouts from other
councils are also welcome with proof of membership. New to Girl Scouts? Resident or day camp
provides the perfect opportunity to get a taste of all
that Girl Scouts has to offer during the summertime
and beyond. New campers welcome!
Open houses
& info sessions
Experience the excitement of GSWESTOK camp life for
yourself! Parents/guardians, friends, campers, and even
whole troops are invited to visit any of our Camp Info
Nights or our Camp Cookieland Open House. Meet the
camp directors, ask questions, and see what our camps
are all about. At Camp Cookieland, you’ll be able to take
self-guided tours! Remember, exploring camp means a
lot of walking-wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and
a hat and dress for the weather. Also, be sure to bring a
water bottle! You can even register for camp right there
at the info sessions and open house.
For security reasons, driving directions are available
only upon registration.

alternate date will be offered or
the full fee will be refunded.
Campers who leave the session
early due to an illness, homesickness, misbehavior, or parental
request will not receive a refund.
What if my plans
change – can I get a
refund?
While we hope that you are able
to join us this summer for camp,
we know that sometimes things
happen and a change has to be
made to your registration date.
Up through two weeks prior to
your camp’s start date, a full
refund is available (minus a $25
fee).
A Dr.’s note will be required for
any refunds after the
cancellation deadline.
Is camp ever closed
because of weather?
We know that those weather
reporters can get pretty scary
sounding sometimes! While the
urge may be strong to hop in the
car and rescue your camper,
rest assured that when severe
weather strikes camp, your
camper will be enjoying a cozy
evenings of games, skits, songs,
and a sleepover in a secure, safe,
What are the meals
like at camp?
Meals are served family-style
by cabin group, and include
lots of kid-friendly food and
plenty of options. All campers
and staff eat together in the
dining hall. Some units may
also choose to do cookout
meals, or cook occasional
treats as a group activity. Food
options are always available for
kids who are vegetarian,
lactose intolerant, gluten-free,
or who have food allergies.
Please let us know about all
special dietary needs on your
child’s Health History Form.

accommodate strict Kosher,
vegan, or other extreme diets.
If you have questions about
food service, please contact
the Camp Leadership
Executive at 1-800-698-0022
or email info@gswestok.org.
