Its successful development is a direct result of the completion of shovel-ready sites and the Cherrington Parkway extension to Ewing Road, Moon Township. Shovel-ready development attracts new construction of facilities that increases job growth. This work was completed by the Allegheny County Airport Authority with support from federal, state and local officials. The Airport Authority announced that Allegiant Air will be a new scheduled air carrier at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) with flight service beginning in February. The ultra low cost carrier will be providing service to Jacksonville, FL (JAX), St. Petersburg, FL (PIE), and Punta Gorda/Ft. Myers (PGD) with several flights weekly to each new destination. The project to rehabilitate and improve the People Mover trains at Pittsburgh International Airport is underway with a goal of restoring the transit system to a brand new condition. The People Mover will have refurbished station doors, new digital dynamic signs on the platform, new mechanical and electrical components system wide, new interiors, exteriors and under frames. The multiphase project will be completed in Spring 2016. The Airport Authority is offering a new option to reserve airport parking in advance online at www.flypittsburgh.com/transportation. This new program will save travelers both time and money. Save up to 37% off regular PIT parking by reserving and paying in advance. Additionally, online reservations will allow travelers to bypass lines while waiting to enter or exit the airport parking lots. Parking at the airport provides the closest parking to the gates. Airport rates include all taxes and fees making this program much clearer and easier to understand than off-site parking locations. The Airport Authority recently announced new construction for Building 300, the fourth building of the Pittsburgh International Business Park (PIBP), on Cherrington Parkway in Moon Township. The commonwealth and Allegheny County are partnering with the Pittsburgh International Airport on the project to create the new Pittsburgh International Airport World Trade Center. The redevelopment will provide sites for over one million square feet of Class A office space, 90,000 square feet for research and development and a 400-room hotel with convention space. In addition, up to six corporate hangars could be built with ramp access. Plus the site will have pedestrian access to the landside terminal for easy access to commercial airline traffic. The 195 acre site located near the entrance to the Pittsburgh International Airport is a brownfiled site that will require extensive preparation. The transformational project is projected to generate $250 million in private investment and lead to the creation of 7,000 direct and indirect jobs, and more than 1,200 construction jobs. Partnering for the Future The Allegheny County Airport Authority works diligently to attract new airlines, destinations and more flights to benefit the region’s air travelers and to attract more visitors and business to Allegheny County and beyond. We accomplish this by partnering with the airlines for the future. ACAA Mission:..... First.Class.Service. Our Vision:............ To Be The Airport of Choice.
