Aletsch Arena – the most liberating nature experience in the alps!
Experience a simply unique and unspoiled natural landscape. The three excursion and holiday
destinations Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiesch-Eggishorn are located at the Great Aletsch Glacier
which is, at 23 km, the largest glacier in the Alps. It is also at the centre of the Swiss Alps JungfrauAletsch UNESCO World Heritage site. In summer, the car-free Aletsch Arena offers 317 km of hiking
trails, fixed-rope climbing routes, rope parks, mountain bike routes, paragliding, 3 vista points, the Pro
Natura Centre and Europe's highest 9-hole golf course. Authentic oasis of calm or cool world of
adventures:

2.1
“Gletschi” the glacier flea | A new mascot
aletscharena.ch/gletschi-en
The glacier flea or springtail is the real hero of the Great Aletsch Glacier –
even though the tiny creature never grows bigger than about two millimetres
long.
In the Aletsch Arena this little pipsqueak has a very special job to do: as our
new mascot, the glacier flea has been given a pair of beautiful red shoes
specially for his job, which involves pointing out the most beautiful spots in
his habitat and having exciting stories for children at the ready. What’s more,
he’s always the first to hear about the best offers in the Aletsch Arena.

“Gletschi” will spring into action in summer 2016, when FOX is due to “retire”.

2.2 Energy Spots in the Aletsch Arena
aletscharena.ch/energyspots
Let go, forget your worries and recharge. The Aletsch Arena holiday region at the Aletsch
Glacier, the biggest ice stream in the Alps, is a place of unusual natural energy, as
measurements by Philippe Elsener, a natural energy specialist, recently confirmed. The first
three energy spots can now be experienced on the Bettmerhorn and the Eggishorn:
information boards invite visitors to consciously experience the “Harmony”, “Pleasure” and
“Clarity” energy spots.
The Natural Energy of the Aletsch Glacier: Recharging the Soul
From time immemorial, locals have considered the area around the Aletsch Glacier to be a magical
place of great energy. Such places, known as energy spots, are geological locations where a positive
energy can be felt due to the earth’s radiation there. Can this energy be measured in watts or joules?
Unfortunately not. But there are people such as Philippe Elsener, a Swiss “natural energy specialist”,
whose job it is to work with the energy-related dimensions of places – an energy which is technically
difficult to measure but can still be sensed by people. In 2014 Elsener visited the Aletsch Arena. He
concludes: “The measurements show that the ridge releases energy and is a site of special natural
powers: it builds you up and strengthens you; it is stimulating and relaxing. It is a place where humans
and animals can ‘recharge’.” This can especially be felt by those who do the ‘View Point Tour’ to the

three vista points of the Aletsch Arena – Moosfluh/Hohfluh, Bettmerhorn and Eggishorn. This doesn’t
come as a surprise: the views from here onto the UNESCO-protected Great Aletsch Glacier are
unparalleled. You feel yourself breathing freely as you take in the spectacular, awe-inspiring 360degree view. People who study natural energies compare them with the energies of theBody
Meridians. Depending on the culture, they are called Qi, Prana Energy, Orgone Energy or Life Energy.
“We are able to interact with these energies, to come into resonance with them and to absorb them,”
says Philippe Elsener. When this happens, the triad of body, mind and soul is achieved. “If a person
lacks order, rhythm and harmony, this will eventually make them ill,” explains Elsener. However, all
these things are often found in landscapes of spectacular beauty. Such sites of natural energy exert a
magnetic attraction – you feel subconsciously drawn to them.
The showcasing of other energy spots – on Moosfluh, for example – is planned for summer 2016.
2.3 Glacier experience
aletscharena.ch/glacierexperience
Endless excitement and journeys of discovery: a glacier experience at the Great Aletsch Glacier, the
longest glacier in the Alps.
The 23 km river of ice is a magical place – the very sight of the immense glacier is awe-inspiring. The
Aletsch Arena offers a variety of glacier experiences for all the senses. Magic, mystery and adventure
guaranteed.

2.4 Sensory experiences in the UNESCO World Heritage Site
Enjoy the most liberating natural experience in the Alps at its most intense: that's just what the sensory
experiences of the Aletsch Arena were made for. The natural phenomenon of this unique mountain
landscape – including the Great Aletsch Glacier and its broad, sweeping view of the breathtaking Valais
mountains – is the perfect setting for a programme of beneficial experiences and events in a
magnificent natural environment.
Feel intensely alive, find inner peace and a sense of balance in harmony with nature: these are the aims
of our varied range of sensory experiences including breathing lessons, breathing hikes, yoga and
natural energetics.

3.3 Combination lift “Gletscherbahn Moosfluh”
aletscharena.ch/gletscherbahn-moosfluh-en
Innovative cable car concept in Valais - Precision on the Mountain
The new Gletscherbahn-Moosfluh combination lift is in operation
from December 2015. On one and the same route, winter visitors
can choose either a comfortable gondola or a modern 6-seater
chairlift to take them up the mountain. In summer, transportation is
provided by gondola only; hikers can then get on and off at the
Blausee station. What guests don’t realise on reaching the
mountain station, with its fabulous view of the Aletsch Glacier, is
that the entire system represents an outstanding technical
achievement. As the mountain station lies in an area of unstable
terrain, a sophisticated system featuring lift pylons with a traverse
http://adobe.ly/1rwMdUa
chassis, and the encasement of the mountain station in a concrete
trough equipped with hydraulic presses, ensure that the upper
section of this cableway keeps up with any shifts in the terrain. Un
concept innovant de remontées mécaniques en Valais: la précision en haute altitude.
