Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to
someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends
so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our
friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are
restored to health and vigor.
Those who were hurt or maimed are made
whole and strong again, just as we remember them
in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content,
except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them,
who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when
one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group,
flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special
friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion,
never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face;
your hands again caress the
beloved head, and you look once more
into the trusting eyes of your pet,
so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Hudson
Hudson (12 years) came to SARR from a local SPCA when he was surrendered to them at 6 years of age
because his owners didn't have time for him anymore. Hudson was adopted by a Calgary couple that eventually
added to their family by adopting three more SARR dogs. Hudson is a great ambassador for Rottweilers and is
enjoying his retirement years!

Riley
Riley (4 years) came to SARR after his owners surrendered him to a local shelter because they couldn't get their
children to stop jumping off of the furniture and landing on top of poor Riley. A testament to his marvelous
temperament, Riley was never aggressive towards the children for their poor behavior. Riley was adopted by a
family in rural Central Alberta and is enjoying the love and adoration of them and their children.

Bishop
Bishop (5 years) came to SARR from a rescue in Northern Alberta after he was found as a stray. It was determined that Bishop
was born without an optic nerve, meaning he was blind since birth, so it was nothing short of a miracle that he survived on his
own for any length of time. Bishop was adopted by a Calgary family and Bishop was recently certified as a therapy dog with the
Pet Access League Society (PALs). SARR is very proud to have three of our past foster dogs working as certified therapy dogs!

Leela
Leela (2 years) was picked up by a rural animal control facility who contacted SARR to take this sweet girl after she
was found running at large in Northern Alberta. We are unsure if Leela was born with only one eye or if losing her
eye was the result of a traumatic injury. Once SARR's vet stitched up the area where her right eye would normally be,
Leela was ready to find her forever family. Leela found her family in Calgary and was thrilled to learn it was
complete with another Rottie and her new best friends Cade and Kyra.

Isis
Isis (3 years) was surrendered by her owners when they decided they were unable to handle a large
dog and could only keep their small dog. Isis was thrilled when a Calgary family adopted her and
they now take her for regular walks and have taught her to swim in the river. She has so much fun it's
hard to keep her away from the water!

Laci
Laci (2 years) was surrendered
to a vet clinic after she broke
her leg in two places
and the owners couldn't afford
to fix it. Laci's accident was
completely avoidable
and the result of her owner's
negligence; they were
camping and set off fireworks
which scared Laci and caused
her to become entangled in
the tent's ropes which broke
her leg. Laci's story has a happy
ending - after having surgery to
fix her leg and
spending two months in foster
care undergoing physiotherapy;
she was adopted by a
Calgary family where she is now
the center of attention.

Duke
What is that?
Duke (2 years) is a long haired
Rottweiler - which is a recessive
gene in the breed.
Duke came to SARR when his
owners were expanding their
human family and didn't want
him anymore. Their loss was
SARR's gain!
This lovable, quirky fellow made
himself right at home with his
foster family - quite literally and was adopted by them in
Spring 2009.

Rosie
Ramblin' Rosie (12 years) is a wonderful senior Rottie that was dumped on an acreage in Northern Alberta.
Our vets describe poor Rosie as having had a "very hard life". She was very arthritic, quite skinny and had some
medical issues when she first arrived in rescue; but none of that interfered with her fantastic spirit.
Due to Rosie's age and condition, she is living out her life in permanent foster care with
her SARR foster home where she is thoroughly enjoying her twilight years.

Shadow
& Ares
Shadow (4 years) came to SARR
with his buddy Zeus when their
owners were moving out
of the country and couldn't
take either dog with them.
Shadow was adopted by a
family in Saskatchewan and
was thrilled when they added
Ares to the family too!
Now they spend their time
going for walks and wearing
each other out with their
antics!

Laila
Laila (1.5 years) is a very sweet
Rottie that was rescued from
an Indian reserve in
Southern Alberta.
Laila's previous "owners" were
threatening to shoot Laila
because she kept trying to get
into the house to eat the food.
There were 9 very good
reasons why Laila was trying
to get into the house to eat
some food............her 9
puppies were living under the
front porch of their house!!
At the time of this
publication, all of Laila's
puppies have been adopted
but Laila is still in foster
care and looking for a forever
home of her very own to have
adventures with.
