June 25 Burglary was reported in the 400 block of Main St. Violation of a court order was reported in the 800 block Superior Funeral Home of Martin. June 26 Charles Thompson, 31, Superior, was arrested on two Superior warrants. He was also charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. June 27 Criminal damage was reported in the zero block of Pinal. June 29 Derek Araujo, 42, Superior, was arrested on a warrant issued out of the Department of Corrections. July 1 Theft was reported at the Main St. police station. Frank Lopez, 41, Superior, was arrested on warrants issued out of Pinal County and Casa Grande. Burglary was reported in the zero block of Mitchell. She is survived by her husband Ralph Everett. Carmen lived in Gulfport, Mississippi since 1991. She leaves behind sons, Damas “Juni” (Claudia) Salas their children, Gaby, Kassie and Marco; Christopher (Angela) Salas their children Sky-Lynn, Eric, Chris, Cameron, Alexander, Tyler and Myah; David (Priscilla) Salas and their children Adam, Angelo and Manuel; brother, Victor Ortiz; sisters, Belinda Ortiz Rodriguez and Eliza Brunner; mother, Nellie Ortiz; and several nieces and nephews. Carmen was preceded in death by her son, Eric Salas; sister, Patricia Guzman Smith; father, Blas Guzman; and stepdad, Modesto Ortiz. Carmen loved to laugh, dance and have a good time with her family and friends in Arizona and Mississippi. She July 9, 2014 GCC welding program offers virtual training will be remembered for her funny stories, infectious laugh and love of life. Carmen made a friend of everyone she encountered. Carmen was loved by many people and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Baseball and Softball teams in three divisions – 9/10, 11/12, and Senior – are playing in the tournaments for a chance to advance to the 2014 Arizona Little League Baseball and Softball State Tournaments. The winning team of the state tournament advances to a regional tournament with a chance to play for a berth in the Little League World Series. The tournaments are being played at Maricopa, Casa Grande, and Coolidge. All of the tournaments are double-elimination. The 11/12 Division Baseball All-Stars started on July 1 with a loss to Santa Cruz, 10 – 0. Superior bounced back in its next game, defeating San Manuel/Mammoth, 6 – 4. With a record of 1 – 1 so far in the doubleelimination tournament, Superior was scheduled to play Coolidge on July 7. Game results were not available at press time. With a win versus Coolidge, Superior would advance to play the winner between Santa Cruz and Florence on July 8. The 9/10 Division Baseball All-Stars started on June 30 with a loss to Casa Grande, 23 – 0. Just like the 11/12 Division team, the 9/10 All-Stars bounced back in their next game, defeating Florence, 5 – 2. The golf tournament fund raiser for the 35th annual Saint Francis of Assisi Church Fiesta was held on Saturday June 28 at the Queen Valley Golf Course. The winning team with a score of 54 was Hector Apodaca, Albie Lopez and Henry Apodaca. Hector and Henry are former residents of San Manuel. Albie Lopez is a former major league baseball player. He played on the 2001 Arizona Diamondbacks World Series Championship team.
