Helpful Information:
All of the above scissors and shears are, in principle,
OK for cutting glass fiber, carbon fiber, Aramide or
Dyneema® fabrics, but one should never use a single
pair to cut all or any of the aforesaid materials
because Aramide and Dyneema® products need extremely sharp blade edges whereas glass fiber products
tend to dull the edges in no time at all! Our recommendation: Use one pair exclusively with Aramide and
Dyneema® products and another pair for use with glass
and carbon fiber products and mark these pairs accordingly. You will be surprised how very much longer your
scissors and shears retain their cutting efficiency.

Maintenance and Care:
Working with saturated laminate fabrics is bound
to foul the shears, which are best cleaned by
immersion in a solvent bath. Make sure that residual
resin solutions are not allowed to cure on the
surfaces of the shears. Perform thorough clean-ups
as often as appears necessary - the blank and
smooth surfaces facilitate the tiresome cleaning
duties.

Electro-Powered Heavy-Duty Shears
These electro-powered shears operate on the
principle of conventional hand shears in that
the cutting effect is produced by the up-anddown movement of the upper blade, the edge
of which is in constant contact with the edge
of the fixed lower blade.
The principle employed in these shears has
the advantage over rotary blade shears in that
there is no bare shaft for threads to catch and
wind up to eventually block the machine.
What's more, the operator has a clear view of

novel four-bar linkage mechanism requiring less than
50% of physical effort. The lower half of these shears
glides absolutely horizontal across the table top whilst
the upper half is effortless moved up and down by the
user's thumb. Straight cuts through fabrics are readily
accomplished in that the material is hardly lifted off the
table top, let alone ruffling it. The coated blades feature a
high hardness rating plus cutting performance and are
readily replaced once dull or damaged.
The contact pressure of the blades can be adapted by an
adjusting screw to the material to be cut.
Applications:
SWISSORS Shears are very popular in the interior decorators line of trade where long fabric runs have to be cut.
The micro-serrated version of these shears is recommended for making-up delicate curtain fabrics.

These clippers are often referred to as ringfinger, nap, burling, palm, thread or cleaning
scissors.
The clippers are nested in the palm with the
ringfinger engaged in the eye - this leaves the
hand free for other work. Threads are simply
cut by pushing the upper blade down with the
thumb whilst the ringfinger holds the clippers,
which are spring-loaded to open automatically
after each cut is made. Snipping requires no
effort whatever. The screw is secured in position by a special lock nut.
Clippers with straight blades are used to cut
sewing machine threads whereas the ones
with curved blades are used to trim threads at
final inspections without the risk of damaging
the fabric.

These are made of Grade GTW 40 malleable cast iron,
with the clipping bed made of forged and hardened highgrade tool steel brazed onto the base. This makeup
ensures clearly defined notch marks for an indefinite
period of time. Two dowel pins are installed in the fulcrum
for extra stability.
The buffer spring between the handles provides for ease
of handling.
The surfaces of these notchers are nickel-plated,
the clipping beds are left unplated.

Quality scissors and shears require due
attention to last for as long as possible.
Rough and tiresome cutting is not necessarily
an indication that regrinding is needed.
Do not, under any circumstances, attempt to
untighten the screw. Try cleaning and lubricating instead - it usually works wonders.
