Andi Petersen: President
I joined the IAM, in 2000 when I first started working in the aircraft industry. I started my journey at Raytheon / Beech
as a sheet metal /composite mechanic and later an inspector. I started at Spirit in 2010 in quality. I have a wonderful 15
year old son, Travis, who attends Rose Hill High School. He plays basketball and baseball, which keeps us both pretty
busy. I enjoy reading, playing games with my family, attending church and spending time with friends. I would like to
thank you for your support and trust in me and I look forward to serving the membership to the best of my ability. I
would also like to thank all of the people who make what we do look easy; without their help, we would not be successful!
Betty Brooks: Vice President
In 1986, I hired in and have been an IAM member of Local Lodges 834/839 since. I have been a teller on multiple elections and contracts. In 1989, I experienced first hand the ugliness of a strike (which a group of us got hit), when all we
were doing was standing up, fighting for our jobs, fighting on how workers should be treated and what's fair for us all
to succeed, and I still believe in that. I've been a steward for almost 4 years and also served on the Safety/Health and
Benefit Committees for the past 2. I would like to thank each and everyone of you. I’m honored and look forward to
working for you, and with you, these next 3 years.

Larry Stafford: Recording Secretary
I came to work at Boeing from Bloomington/Normal Illinois in 1979. I Joined the Union at Orientation, laid off in 1984-1985 for 23 months and joined again at Orientation. I started being active in the
Union in the 90’s -during the Strikes and then working with Community Service Committee, cooking on meeting days. I am a charter member of LL839 and the first Union Steward elected after the
sale to Onex. I was elected to be a Delegate, serving at the 2008 IAM Convention and elected as the
Local Lodge Recording Secretary in 2008, and have held that position since. I’ve been married to
Suzan for almost 37 years and have 3 adult kids, Michelle Hastings, Meghan and Joshua and 2
granddaughters, Harlow and Josephine.
Joni Pierce: Secretary Treasurer
I have worked at Spirit almost 36 years. I have been a Union Steward since June of 1986. At the sell
of Boeing to Spirit, I was asked to serve as the first Secretary Treasurer for our newly chartered Local Lodge No. 839 until the first election. Since that time, I have had the privilege to continue to
serve in this capacity. Additionally, I have volunteered to serve on several of our Local’s Committees. I have been elected to serve as a Delegate for the 2008 and 2012 Grand Lodge Conventions, the
Audit Committee, a Delegate to Union Label, Wichita/Hutch Labor Federation, and District 70.
During the last election, I was also elected to be on Kansas State Council, I was really excited about
this new endeavor. But, do you want to know what has been the most fun and the most interesting
for me in all these years to help with? It has been being a Teller in the Elections and the Contract
Votes, being with my Union brothers and sisters. I keep hearing about how people want the Union
to be more transparent; well folks YOU are the Union, please take my word and get more involved,
if you want to know more about this GREAT Union to which we belong. That is the BEST WAY to
find out how things work. I still learn things about the union all the time. We have Local Lodge
Bylaws, District Bylaws, and then International governs us with the IAM Constitution. Thank you
for electing me to serve for another term and I look forward to working with you all.
Susan Hiebert: Trustee
I have been a proud union member for 26 years. I have served, and continue to serve, on the eboard
and many local lodge committees, and delegate positions. I am also a shop steward in transportation on 2nd shift. I enjoy family, friends, camping, country living, and the good Lord above. Thank
you for your support.
Rickey Nelson: Trustee
I’ve been married for 19 years. I have eight children. I have worked for Spirit for 17½ years. I have
been a steward for 10. I love people, church, bowling and fishing.
Cornell Beard: Trustee
I have been with Boeing / Spirit for 18 years and a proud Union Steward for 15 years. I was your
JPA for 1. Thank you all for your trust as your new Trustee and District Delegate. God Bless.
Mike Danler: Conductor/Sentinel
Hello, I want to start out by saying thank you for coming out to vote. I have been working here at
Spirit for 7 ½ years now. I work in CMCW Machine Shop 2nd shift. I have been a shop steward for
a 1 ½ years. I really look forward to serving the membership. Thank you again.

Community Service Committee
By: Andi Petersen
The Community Service Committee would like to thank the membership for the support that you
give to us when you purchase food from the kitchen and tickets for all of our drawings. The money
you spend enables us to procure additional items for baskets and raffles and allows us to help our
members in need! Thank you for all that you do!
The Community Service Committee would like to
congratulate Rita Rogers (pictured). Rita is a Business Rep with District 70 and Member of Local
Lodge 774. Rita is the winner of the Super Bowl
Basket. The basket valued at $120.00 contained
items to host the perfect Super Bowl Party!
At the February Meeting, the Community Service Committee will be hosting a drawing for a Valentines Day Basket. The basket includes a 1 night stay at the Hotel at Old Town, movies tickets, wine,
wine glasses and other lovely items to make your Valentines Day extra special!
Tickets will sell for $1 each or 6 for $5. The drawing will be immediately following the membership
meeting.
The Community Service Committee would also like
to thank you for your support of the Warm Hearts
Campaign. Over 10,000 items were collected this
year, which exceeded the 8,000 from last year! KAKE
Channel 10 attributes this accomplishment to our
partnership with them. Thank you again for your
generosity and support!
Thank You For All That YOU Do!
