WARRANTY INFORMATION
Butler Sinks: Five (5) Year warranty from date of purchase.
Tapware: Five (5) Year warranty on Chrome finished tapware from
date of purchase. Two (2) Year warranty on all non-chrome finished
tapware from date of purchase. Six (6) Year warranty on Nicolazzi
tapware ranges. Five (5) Year warranty on all ceramic cartridges
and headworks. Due to manufacturer’s conditions, the warranty on
flexible hoses is 12 months from date of purchase.

SINKS - BUTLER SINKS
TRADITIONAL
CRAFTMANSHIP FOR
OVER 100 YEARS
Shaws sinks demonstrate the natural characteristics of fire clay
ceramics and are created by a ‘slip casting’ process at the Shaws
factory in the Lancashire town of Darwen. A mixture of clay
and water is poured by hand into a porous mould. When the
newly formed sinks are dry enough, craftsmen remove them
from their moulds before hand finishing the sinks through a
process of sponging and ‘fettling’ to create a smooth finish.
Following a drying period of up to 40 hours, the sinks are then
prepared with a ground coat before being glazed. Firing in
specially designed kilns at temperatures of up to 1200 degrees
centigrade completes this rigorous process.
Whilst modern technology has improved manufacturing
conditions over the years, the principals of this hand crafted
product remain the same. Each sink is proudly signed with the
impression of its maker and bears its own distinctive badge.
Traditional craftsmanship is as important now as it was in 1897.
Please note: We endeavour to keep all butler sinks in stock
however due to the slow manufacturing process with all sinks
being hand-made we may experience delays in supply so please
check stock availability before ordering.
BELFAST SINKS, LONDON
SINKS OR BUTLER SINKS?
Fireclay kitchen sinks were traditionally either Belfast sinks
or London (butler) sinks. The main distinguishing difference
between the two is the weir overflow, which was absent from
the London butler sink to discourage water wastage. Water
in London was not so plentiful as it was in Belfast! Several
examples of each style are produced by Shaws.
