Our partner
Welcome to the Swiss University
Championships / U-Games Alpine and
Cross-Country Skiing 2016
The committee of the Swiss Academic Ski-Club (SAS) has the pleasure to invite and
to welcome the athletes and their staff to the Swiss University Championships
U-Games Alpine and Cross-Country-Skiing of 2016. For many years, the Swiss University Sports Federation has entrusted the SAS with the organisation of these international student competitions.
Despite rather difficult snow conditions in the Swiss Alps, the last two holdings have
been a great success. St. Moritz is not only one of the most famous ski arenas in the
world but also has a long tradition in hosting World Cup races. Thanks to its altitude
snow is guaranteed and the legendary Corviglia / Suvretta slopes set the scene for
splendid races.
As every year, the SAS is very glad to organise these Swiss University Championships.
It is our goal to accomplish high calibre events, allowing students* and racers from
all over the world to compete amongst each other’s and with the young talents of
Swiss-Ski.
Due to a change in the cross-country skiing calendar, the formula of the last years
can only partially be followed. Whereas the skating race will take place together with
the SWISSLOPPET Attraverso Campra on Sunday as before, special classical races for
Students only will take place on Saturday. The cross-country skiing centre of Campra is situated on the south side of the Lukmanier at about 1.500 meter above sea
level, providing both slopes and infrastructures of highest quality. The SAS, in close
association with the ski club Simano Campra, is looking forward to welcoming the
numerous participants in this idyllic landscape.
We would like to thank cordially the numerous volunteers of the SAS, Sports & Events
St. Moritz with Martin Berthod and his team, the mountain lifts of St. Moritz as well
as Nicola Vanzetti and the other members of the ski club Simano Campra for their
enormous commitment and cooperation. Our special thanks go to the various sponsors and partners enabling the execution of these Championships and for their generous support of the Swiss university snow sport.
Finally, we would like to invite all students registered with Swiss Universities respectively with Recognised Swiss Higher Education Institutions to participate in great
numbers and to turn these competitions into proper University Games allowing the
best students and athletes to present themselves in the spotlight. Good luck to everyone. We look forward to meeting you in St. Moritz and Campra.
