Before you first connect the EzCAP series USB 2.0 Video Grabber (hardware) to your computer, please insert the “Software CD‐ROM” into your CD drive. Select the option “Install Driver”. Please note: If the hardware wizard window does not appear then please select the ‘Driver’ folder from the CD‐ROM and then double‐click ‘Set up’. This will launch the software for installation. A window may appear stating that the device has not passed the Windows logo testing, but please select “Continue Anyway”. If “Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard” window appears click the “Finish” button to complete the driver installation. Note: If any further components are found please repeat the above process until you receive the message “Found new hardware: Your hardware is installed and configured for use”. You will now need to check that the drivers are installed correctly: Connect the EzCAP Video Grabber (hardware) to your computer; right click on My Computer and left flick on properties. Click on Hardware tab and then Device Manager. In the Device Manager, click on the “Sound, video and game controllers” you should see “USB 2861 Device”. If it has a yellow exclamation mark next to it then this means that the driver is not installed correctly. You will need to remove the driver and disconnect the EzCAP Video Grabber (hardware) from the computer and then reconnect it to install the driver again. Please note: You should see the “USB 2861 Device” on the “Sound, video and game controllers” if you use the EzCAP Video Adapter with Audio (Model EzCAP116). Should you have any problems, please visit our website: www.szforwardvideo.com for new driver updates and support, or email for help to: support@szforwardvideo.com Once you have installed the Easy Capture software, you are ready to install the hardware. 1) Insert and install “ShowBIZ DVD 2” CD‐ROM onto your system. The passcode is printed on the back of the CD‐ROM envelope. Follow the prompts to continue and to complete the set up. 2) Double click “ShowBIZ DVD 2” icon on your desktop, and select “Capture, create, or edit videos.” 3) Select “Capture From Device.” 4) The Video Device should read “USB 2861 Device”, and you can change the frame size to suit your transferred video for optimal viewing. You should set Audio Device to “USB Audio Device”. You can click “Input” to select the video input source, such as “Composite” or “S‐Video”. 5) You can change File Name to alter the recorded file’s destination. You can also select the required recording video format, e.g. AVI, MPEG1 or MPEG2. 6) Press play on your device (VHS player, camcorder etc) and click ‘Record / Capture’ to begin transferring your video to your computer. 7) When you wish to stop your recording ‐ simply click the ‘stop’ button. You can then view and edit your recorded video clip using the software provided. Simply drag and drop your recorded clips onto the horizontal film strip in order to ‘splice together’ a series of video clips. Question: I am using Microsoft Vista with the Easy Capture but when I connect my VHS player to the laptop and play it, I cannot get any sound coming through. (When the small preview window displays the video I am transferring from VHS to Laptop there is no sound.) Solution 1: If you are using the ‘Ulead Studio’ software, then ‘right click’ on the Ulead Studio icon on your desktop and on the compatibility panel tick "run this program in compatibility mode for : windows XP server pack 2....see image below. Solution 2: However, if you are using ‘ShowBiz DVD2’ software, or if you have installed the audio driver from the manufacturer’s website (and not from the CD which came with the Easy Capture hardware), then the driver name will show as "USB Audio Device" – see below, and you will not be able to hear sound whilst viewing the preview window. If the user's device name shows " USB Audio device", then you need to update the driver from the supplied CD to "USB EMP Audio device", then the problem of preview with no sound will be solved.
