The Three Dog Night Fan Club has enjoyed two great Meet & Greets this spring. The first one was held in
Nashville, TN in an intimate setting at the host hotel downtown after rocking our world at the beautiful
Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The second event was held in Las Vegas, NV, where fan club members
occupied the first two rows in the theater for the concert. Many thanks to Laure Dunham for arranging this
special seating opportunity for the fan club.
Thank you to Danny, David, Michael, Paul, Pat and Eddie for spending time with us at these special fan club
events. It means so much to get to know you “one on one” -- and document the experience with photos and
autographs. The shows were absolutely amazing, as you continue to astound us at every concert … each
one providing something unique and memorable for the fans. None of this could happen without Tom Halpain, who coordinates
these events with the venues. It’s not like
he doesn’t have enough on his plate, but he
does this for us! Thank you, Tom.

excited to attend one of the most unique and
special occasions I’ve ever experienced in
21 years with Three Dog Night. The Band

We experienced a “Rocky Mountain High” on the Fourth of July in Copper Mountain, CO! Some of the band members and their fans experienced altitude sickness at the 9,000’ elevation. Of course that didn’t
deter Three Dog Night, who delivered a show stopping performance
that won’t soon be forgotten in the great state of Colorado. Shirley,
Paul and I enjoyed the concert with our hostess for the weekend, Susan
and her family, Travis, Chelsea, and baby Olivia, along with friends,
Bev and Vance Brand and Jesse and Charin Allsup and her parents.
The following night we enjoyed a concert and fireworks in Palmer Lake,
CO with the Matt Bloom Band, including the incredible Jesse Allsup,
drummer extraordinaire! A Fourth of July celebration I will never forget!

HONORED AT STATE CAPITOL IN
NASHVILLE, TN
Three Dog Night was honored on the floors of both the House and the Senate at the Tennessee State Capitol
in Nashville with a presentation of a Resolution (HJR0597) introduced by Representative Roger Kane on April
18, 2016. The Resolution recognized Three Dog Night as a dynamic and inspirational musical group and applauds the band’s contributions to America’s cultural landscape.
The guys enjoyed a visit with Governor Haslam
and First Lady Crissy Haslam, as well as Lt. Governor, Ron Ramsey and members of the Senate,
Speaker of the House, Beth Harwell, Speaker Pro
Tem Curtis Johnson and Deputy Speaker Steve
McDaniel. They also met with Secretary of State
Tre Hargett and enjoyed a fabulous tour of the
Capitol conducted by Michelle Hale and her able
staff. The architecture and beauty of this magnificent structure is unequaled. We even went into
the secret tunnel under the Capitol building! During our tour, there was a surprise of a special performance of “Joy to the World” by a children’s
choir from Theatre Bug of East Nashville. This
incredible day will definitely stay in my heart for
the rest of my life.

A revamped Three Dog Night delivers classic
rock with the Pacific Symphony

Three Dog Night is a familiar sight at the Pacific Amphitheatre during the OC Fair, having performed
there several times since the late 2000s. But Thursday night’s solid 85-minute concert proved quite
different. The pre-fair show was the classic rock band’s first symphonic one at the venue and modelled after 2002 album “With the London Symphony Orchestra,” released in conjunction with its 35th
anniversary.
The lineup now features keyboardist Eddie Reasoner and co-lead vocalist David Morgan. Both
joined last year when Cory Wells and Jimmy Greenspoon died. Alongside lone founding member/
lead singer Danny Hutton, guitarist Michael Allsup (a mainstay since 1968), bassist Paul Kingery (in
service since the ’80s), plus drummer Pat Bautz – the group did a bang up job in Costa Mesa.
Following Pacific Symphony’s introductory “Overture,” containing motifs from past Three Dog Night
hits, a breezy “Family of Man” launched the proceedings. Before a seamless “Black and White,”

Hutton (a congenial host throughout) asked the older-skewing crowd, “Are you ready to go back to
the early ’70s? I don’t remember much about it.” Added classical backing during the No. 1 single
(on which Hutton originally sang lead) provided a more elegant flair. Appropriately enough, I spotted young women, flowers-in-hair, sporting ’60s-styled dresses and sunglasses, not unlike ones
seen at Coachella.
Morgan’s gritty, Stephen Stills-styled vocals on the acoustic guitar-driven “Never Been to Spain”
and Allsup’s multiple guitar solos fared well, as did the energetic full-bodied harmonies of
“Shambala.” Hutton dedicated the idyllic Paul Williams penned “Out in the Country” to “nature lovers who like to hike and fish.”
“Easy to Be Hard” – a top 10 hit in 1969 from the Broadway musical “Hair” – saw Hutton savor
some vocal one-upmanship with Morgan during the tranquil-to-dramatic buildup. Then Kingery displayed his own impressive soulful grit on Allen Toussaint’s rollicking “Play Something Sweet
(Brickyard Blues).” It received a loud response.
Three Dog Night exited the stage as the symphony did an interlude, but quickly returned for Harry
Nilsson’s “One” just a few minutes later. Here, Kingery really excelled on vocals. Scattered fans
danced while the string section beefed up the drama. Hutton recalled Joe Cocker with his sandpaper delivery on the romantic “Let Me Serenade You,” while the spirited group harmonies amid “Old
Fashioned Love Song” made it a standout.
Before doing playful John Hiatt tune “Sure as I’m Sittin’ Here,” Morgan talked about aging and living
life to the fullest. Hutton also shared a lengthy story revolving around the good old ’60s days living
in star studded Laurel Canyon. Then the band’s intensely psychedelic rock take on Russ Ballard’s
“Liar” showed there were no signs of rust from these veterans. More concertgoers stood up to
dance when Bautz took over the whimsical lead vocals during Randy Newman’s “Mama Told Me
(Not to Come).” The refrain on “Celebrate” was definitely adhered to by fans.
Then sheet music stands were brought out for a riveting encore of “Prayer for the Children,” done a
cappella style. The emotional 2009 Three Dog Night single was reminiscent of CSN and worth the
price of admission alone. Finally, “Joy to the World” was a jubilant singalong.

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland 2016 Host Committee says that rock and roll legends Three Dog
Night will headline its welcome party – Rock the Night in CLE – before the 2016 Republican National
Convention.
It's an invitation-only event to welcome delegates and media to Cleveland from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday (July 17) at North Coast Harbor, from the Great Lakes Science Center front door through
Voinovich Park, according to a news release.
According to the release, about 10,000-12,000 people are expected to attend, as well as 500 VIPs.

The GRAMMY-nominated band’s hits wind through the fabric of pop culture today, whether on the
radio, in TV commercials or in major motion pictures — songs like “Mama Told Me (Not To Come)”,
“Joy to the World”, “Black and White,” “Shambala” and “One” crystallize the band’s continuing popularity. Three Dog Night boasts some of the most remarkable statistics in popular music, according to
the release.

The Cleveland 2016 Host Committee said 12,000 people attended the party, as well as 500 VIPs.
Guests also enjoyed a culinary smorgasbord featuring more than 50 local chefs, restaurants, breweries and
food trucks, including many of Cleveland's nationally renowned chefs.
"The support of some of Cleveland's finest food and beverage institutions has been amazing," said Gilbert.
"We at the Host Committee are grateful for the restaurant community's participation in this event. We are excited to share with our guests what locals already know - that Cleveland is a proud, collaborative city with an
exceptional culinary scene."
James Beard Award-winning chef Jonathon Sawyer spearheaded the culinary community's participation to
ensure guests were offered a true representation of Cleveland's food scene.
"It's very important people come here and feel like they're welcome. Politics is a conversation and, regardless
of how you feel, we have to be able to sit down and talk about our problems. Over food, breaking the proverbial bread and the literal bread, is the best way to do it," said Sawyer.
Sawyer was recently featured on Food Network's Chopped series.
Attendees had access to the world's only Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Great Lakes Science Center and
North Coast Harbor, as well as views of the lakefront and Lake Erie. A fireworks show ended the evening.
An opening party is a convention tradition where the host city welcomes guests to kick off the week and enjoy
unique aspects of the city.
"I think Ohio, as always, is going to be a battleground state. Whoever wins Ohio will win the presidency. It's
really all going to be about Cuyahoga County. Whoever wins Cuyahoga County, if someone wins Cuyahoga
County strong, about 250,000 vote margin, that is the White House. That is the difference right there," said
Cleveland City Council President Kevin Kelley.
"We're here to welcome people to Cleveland. We're here to show people what a great city we have and, regardless of who the nominee, is or the vice presidential nominees are, Cleveland is a great city and we just
want the world to see that," said Kelley.

Just wanted to tell you how nice it was to meet you and Barb last night - I wish
I could rewind the clock and do it all over again!! What a great night!! This was
the first time I'd seen TDN without Cory and Jimmy so it was a bit emotional for
me - I almost lost it when they sang "Never Been to Spain". That was always
my favorite song Cory sang. Still hard to believe he's gone! But they do still
sound really good - it's just different - but life goes on and I know Jimmy and
Cory would want the band to keep on rockin'!
I can't tell you how much I loved meeting the guys! It was seriously a dream
come true for me! I didn't get to talk to Danny much but he was so sweet to take
several pics with me! My conversation with Paul was great. What a super nice
guy! We talked about Jimmy and Cory - those guys are all like brothers! He
took their deaths very hard.
Anyway - Thank you so much for planning it and making sure I got the email! I
loved every minute of it!! Hoping I get to do it again some day! I'll be checking
their schedule to see where they're playing that's a good location for me. That
was my 15th TDN concert but I don't think I'd ever get tired of seeing them - I
bet you've lost count of how many times you've seen them!! You're a lucky girl!!

Last night was as good as it was supposed to be. The band seemed more relaxed, less distracted
and enjoying the audience-band exchange. Having attended way too many concerts over the years
I am getting more and more hard of hearing and didn't catch the name of the new vocalist. He was
a little anxious at first, but quickly fell into place.
As usual, my wife and I hung around till the crowds left and there this new fellow was, I suppose
taking in a little of the aura that is when a band and audience have made that special connection.
My wife called out to him for one of the play lists. He had some trouble with that darned gorilla tape
but managed to hand her one in near perfect shape and did his best signing it mid hand-down. I
suppose about as doable as actually hearing an air guitar.........
Please relate to him my sincere appreciation for making the concert a success and continuing Cory's
tradition of making the audience feel special as well. He did that for us and those who too waited for
our usual TDN short, unannounced meet and greet.

When the band announced two concerts in Wisconsin my son, Chris, and I decided it was time for a trip. We
flew in the day before to catch Styx at Waterfest in Oshkosh and then on to Fish Creek for Three Dog Night
just off Lake Michigan. This was my first time to experience the band without Cory, and my third time without
Jimmy. Eddie has Jimmy down in "Out In The Country", "Liar", and the other songs. Danny, Paul, and Pat all
pitched in to help David fill the void left by Cory's passing. Danny introduced band members and told a few
stories while some equipment failures were being remedied. Later I was thrilled to hear Paul sing "One" and
Pat's rendition of "Mama", but my heart was heavy when I didn't hear the familiar "Thank you kindly" at the
end of "Never Been To Spain". The highlight was David, Paul and Danny singing "Eli"!
The next day we drove past 300 miles of Wisconsin and UP Michigan dairy barns and silos to the venue of
the next concert, Bayfield. By show time we had consumed three helpings of the local delicacy, whitefish livers (taste just like chicken livers!), and cruised the Apostle Islands of Lake Superior. Being veterans of Texas
thunderstorms we were probably more aware than most of the clouds rolling in before we entered the Big Top
Chautauqua tent. Almost half way through the show we were sent to our cars to watch a spectacular lightening display for an hour. We all know "the show
must go on", so we returned to the tent for the

tear to many an eye, but in the end there was "Joy
To The World"!
On the way back to the airport in Milwaukee we
stopped at Ho-Chunk Gaming in Wisconsin Dells
to spend the evening and the following morning
with a couple who are my very special
friends. Thanks, Three Dog Night, for a fantastic
trip!

Sorry I missed you in Nashville Madonna! Logistics were an issue for me & I couldn’t make it to the Meet &
Greet. But the concert was great and David Morgan did a great job as a new member. He hit a homerun
with “ELI!”

Hi Madonna
Thought I would share this with you. Autistic Recording Artist, Eric Look, finally got to go to his first Three
Dog Night concert back in February at The Pabst Theatre in Milwaukee. The band has been to the area many
times, but the Pabst has special seating for people that have autism or other disabilities, so Eric was finally
able to get to see the band. We had bought the tix for the concert that was originally set for October and with
the unexpected passing of Cory Wells. It was a very different experience but we were all there to support
Danny, Michael and the band. They put on a great show that night. It turned out to be Cory's birthday, as
well as I'm sure Cory was looking down from above that night and smiling.
Eric and his band headlined an autism event last month, and Eric wanted to do a Three Dog Night song. So
he did “Joy To The World” in honor of Cory. He just learned “Sure As I'm Sitting Here.” I've attached a clip of
Eric performing the song at a recent gig last month. Eric is the keyboard player in the band. Thought I would
share this story with you and feel free to share it or use for your newsletter if you like. Hope they get back to
Milwaukee real soon.
