The annual CEAC Surveyor of the Year award is presented to an “Active Member” who has made an outstanding contribution to the County Surveying profession and to CEAC activity. Past award recipients are 2009 Mike Emmons, Santa Barbara County, and 2010 Stuart Edell, Butte County. Steve will be representing our Chapter next year as one of our State CLSA Representatives. Executive Committee members in attendance: President Mark Danielson, President-Elect David Hobbs, Treasurer Erik Bowers, Secretary Theresa Strazzella, State Executive Committee Board Member Jay Seymour, and State Representatives Stephen Hughey and Mark Price. Executive Committee Members absent: Paul Lindhout - Membership, Alan Ng - Website, Steven Steinhoff - Newletter, and Diane Wells - State Representative The meeting was called to order at 5:18 pm. Topics: Approved the November 3, 2011, minutes Discussed topics, speakers, sponsors, and venues for the January, February, March, and April 2012 meetings. Jay Seymour clarified that an individual surveyor can solicit votes from other chapters but not as a CLSA LA Chapter President or other officer. Diane Wells discussed the Los Angeles Chapter 2012 LS Review Class The Committee discussed revising all Chapter reports – Letterhead, spots for Newsletter, Quarterly re- port with information of 2012 Executive Committee and Committees. The Committee discussed newsletter advertising rates for individuals and businesses. It was noted that the Professional Practice Committee recently assisted several surveyors with mat- ters of physical evidence of material change. The meeting was adjourned at 6:10pm The next Executive Committee Meeting will be held at 5 pm on January 5, 2012, at Taix’s Restraurant. December 2011 Chapter Meeting The December 2011 Chapter Meeting was held on December 1, 2011, at Big Jim’s Restaurant. It was reported a good time was had by all. The event kicked of at 7pm followed by Texas Hold ’em Poker. This website allows us to buy and sell equipment, books, and other items. 10% of the sales price of an item is deducted from the seller’s proceeds and contributed to the Education Foundation. These funds help provide scholarships to land surveying students. Registration is free. Each lecture will be presented by a professional currently practicing or recently retired in the State. The Los Angeles Chapter of CLSA has been successful in its LS Exam Review classes to help LSIT applicants prepare for and pass the state examinations. If you are considering taking this examination or have already signed up, you are encourage to participate in this successful program.
