Jennifer King
Cheer and Dance Coach
Jennifer King begins her first year as Cheer and Dance Coach at Kansas Wesleyan.
In addition to her duties at Kansas Wesleyan, King will continue to teach at Coronado Elementary School in
Salina, and also coach the Salina Central VET dance squad, as well as coach softball for the Lady Mustangs.
King’s experience in dance is far reaching. In 1999-2000, she was the head dance team coach at Sacred Heart
High School in Salina. While in college, King was the team captain of the Bethany College Blue and Gold Dance
Team. After leaving Bethany in 2000, King moved on to Fort Hays State University, completing her Bachelor of
Science degree in Elementary Education, while playing softball for the Tigers. She also spent one season as
Student Assistant coach. Also during her college days, she taught dance with M & J Dance Academy in Salina.
King is working toward her master’s degree in Sports Administration from Wichita State University, and a Master of Education degree in
Curriculum and Instruction from Emporia State University.
“I am glad to be part of the Kansas Wesleyan Athletic Department,” King said. “My intentions are to build the program back to a strong,
competitive level.”

CATCH THE COYOTE GOLF TOUR
If you enjoy golf, or you would like the opportunity to learn the game of golf, join us for the annual Coyote
Golf Tour next summer. The Coyote Golf Tour is a time for fun and fellowship with KWU alumni and friends.
Now nearly a decade old, the tour creates an awareness of KWU and an opportunity to meet and play with
your favorite Coyote coaches. The tour ends with the annual Booster Club Golf Tournament on August 25
at the Elks Country Club in Salina. The Booster Club Golf Tournament’s purpose is to raise money in support
of student athletes and Coyote Athletics.
The Coyote Golf Tour makes about eight stops per summer in central Kansas, as well as Wichita and Kansas
City. Each event is a four person scramble with teams made by KWU. Events are typically held on Wednesday
afternoons. Past locations have included Chisholm Trail in Abilene, Indian Hills in Chapman, Hesston Golf
Course, Hillsboro Golf Course, Rolling Meadows in Junction City, Stagg Hill in Manhattan, Turkey Creek in
McPherson, Minneapolis Golf Course, Sim Park in Wichita, Sunflower Hills in Kansas City, Elks Country Club
in Salina, and Salina Municipal Golf Course.
All levels of golfers are invited to participate and the only cost is the normal course rates for cart and green
fees. After each golf event a reasonably priced meal is available and a member of the KWU coaching staff
is featured to discuss his or her program.
If you are interested in learning more about the Coyote Golf Tour, the Annual Booster Club Golf Tournament,
or supporting Coyote Athletics contact Doug Burgardt, Director of Annual Giving, at 785-827-5541 x1123
or by email at: dougb@kwu.edu.

2006 COYOTE ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES
David Harris, Football and Track (1986)
One of the quickest athletes ever to attend Kansas Wesleyan University, David still holds track
records set back in 1982 in the 200m dash (21.3), 400m relay team (41.9), 800m relay team
(1:28.4), and he also ran on the record setting 1600m relay team (3:18.9).
In football, Harris was an outstanding receiver who still holds the top spot in a pair of receiving
categories: Single Game Receiving Yards (196), and Single Season Receiving Yards (753). When
David left football, he was on the receiving end of the three longest passing plays in KWU
history (91, 86, 83 yards). In addition to still holding the season receiving yards record, David
once held the top spots in Career Receiving Yards (1,500), Career Touchdown Receptions
(14); as well as being ranked third in several categories including Career Receptions (68),
Season Receptions (32), Single Game Receptions (6), and season touchdowns.
Wes Jackson, Football (1958)
Wes earned four letters in football and one in track as an undergraduate. As a lineman, he
was twice named Honorable Mention All-KCAC as the Coyotes dominated the conference,
winning back-to-back championships in 1956 and 1957.
Wes later became the track and cross country coach at KWU, carrying a full-time teaching
load, and was still the greatest track recruiter in KWU history. His last track team in 1969.
which finished second in the KCAC meet, had 30 members on the squad. Among the records
set by his teams were Rick Akusu, Steeplechase; Tom Rainier, Shotput; Glenn Appell, Mile, Two Mile, Steeplechase; Larry DeBusk, 1000; Gary Gullis, 440, 600; Paul Servidio, 880; Marc
Randle, Triple Jump; John Cox, Pole Vault; Mike Fardella, 880, 1000; Linn Osborn, Two Mile,
Three Mile, 1000; Rod Nyp, 440 Intermediate Hurdles; Vaughn Lambert, 330 Intermediate
Hurdles; Bob Masters, Javelin; and five relay teams: 440, Mile, Two Mile, Distance Medley and
Shuttle Hurdles.
Bob Pinkall, Football (1958)
Bob was a four-year starter at center, earning Honorable Mention All-KCAC honors as a
sophomore, Second Team All-KCAC honors as a junior and First Team All-KCAC honors his
senior season.
In early season workouts as a freshman, Coach Gene
Bissell decided to move returning starter at center Ray
Fox, to end in order to get Pinkall into the lineup. Both
Pinkall and Fox became All-KCAC performers as a result
of this move. Bob was football tri-captain his senior
season.

Teresa “Terri” (Clark) Rassette, Softball (1992)
Terri is the only athlete in Kansas Wesleyan history to have their jersey number retired. KWU
won the KCAC Softball Championship during Terri’s sophomore, junior and senior seasons.
She was named All-KCAC in softball three times. As a junior, Terri was a NAIA All-District 10
selection, as well as being named Honorable Mention NAIA All-American. As a senior, Terri
was named the NAIA District 10 Player of the Year, NAIA All-District 10, and a Second Team
NAIA All-American. She also led the nation in stolen bases with 78, and had a .436 batting
average.
Terri also excelled off the field, being named as a All-American Scholar Athlete in 1992, as
well as being named to the the KWU chapter of Alpha Chi Honor Society.
In Volleyball, Terri was a three-time All-KCAC selection, as the Coyotes made an appearance
in the District 10 playoffs her junior season.
Terri was a four-year letterwinner in softball, and a three-year letterwinner in volleyball.
1966 KWU Baseball Team - KCAC Champions
Kansas Wesleyan University revived baseball in 1966, following a 19-year absence, with the last game being played in 1947.
Coyote W-Clan President Harold Morrison and Baseball Chairman Ron Walsh headed up a fundraising drive to found the team
and purchase uniforms for the addition of baseball to the athletic department.
Athletic Director Gene Bissell appointed Ken Cochran as Head Coach as “The Hound” was well qualified for the job. Ken had
been a member of the USA Olympic Exhibition Baseball team, and in the summer of 1965 he had guided the Salina American
Legion team to the Kansas State Championship. Cochran brought some of the Salina Legion team (Jim Bartow and Alan Fahring)
with him to open this initial season. The pitching staff was anchored by rookie Kelly Rudolph (6-1, 2.25 ERA), and sophomore Ron
Moran (5-5, 2.25 ERA). Fahring led the team in homeruns with one, an inside-the-park drive down the left field line against
Washburn. Dick Reilly had the only triple, Phil Coleman and Fahring each had two doubles, and LaVerle Martin and Coleman led
the team in singles with 15 each. Dennis Lambert was a speedster on the base paths stealing 12 bases. Coleman had 17 hits, and
Fahring had 12 RBI’s. Martin led the regulars in hitting with a .280 average. Lambert and Marting were the team captains. Martin,
Moran and Rudolph were named All-Conference selections.
Members of the 1966 KCAC Baseball Champions with a 12-6 overall record, and a 8-2 KCAC record were:
