Sustainable
business
In its approach to innovations, Tarkett Group uses its
knowledge of the market and customers, as well as products
and materials and industrial processes for creating products
of superior quality, in an environmentally friendly manner.
BETTER INDOOR AIR QUALITY!
Currently, all the products produced by Tarkett have VOC*
emissions of less than 100 micrograms/m³ (TVOC after 28
days) contributing to a better indoor air quality. This enables
Tarkett to be the industry reference for the reduction of
volatile organic compounds emission, which is ten times
better than the current European standards.
Tarkett ambition in terms of reducing VOC continues to ensure
better air quality in buildings and homes. In addition, Tarkett
has launched Tarkospray, unique, water-based adhesive
which simplifies the requirements for flooring installation,
while at the same time reducing the emissions during the
installation.
NATURAL, NATURAL LINOLEUM
Linoleum is a 100% natural and renewable product made
from raw materials such as resin, sawdust, cork, jute, chalk,
linseed oil. Natural linoleum is suitable for use in the “green”
(LEED) buildings and commercial buildings. Tarkett Linoleum
xf is the first linoleum in the world which was awarded the
Cradle to Cradle Silver Certification.
PEFC LAMINATES
Tarkett laminate floors are made of 84% natural, renewable
materials from forests which are carefully managed. Tarkett
laminates have PEFC certification. At the end of the life cycle,
laminate flooring can be reused or recycled as an energy
source: laminate is completely combustible and will burn
with no dangerous emissions.

CRADLE TO CRADLE
Cradle to Cradle Certification is based on five criteria:
content of the material, re-use of raw materials, design for
the environment, the share of renewable energy and water
management in the production process, and the principle of
social responsibility. It is in fact one more reason for making
it a totally natural choice.
Tarkett is the first manufacturer of wooden flooring in Europe
which was awarded the Cradle to Cradle Certification for its
range of flooring. Tarkett preserves limited resources of precious
wood species and actively contributes to the conservation of
nature by rational and strictly controlled use of different types
of wood in different layers of flooring. Multilayer structures of
flooring are highly resource-saving products which preserve
the natural environment. For example, 30 m² of solid flooring
can be made from 1 m³ of hardwood, but 150 m² of laminated
flooring can be made from the same amount of hardwood!
GREENLAY
*VOC = Volatile Organic Compound
GreenLay is Tarkett Sports loose lay installation, which
utilizes significantly less adhesive - 98% of the surface is
without glue! Thanks to this sustainable solution, removing
the flooring is very easy, without damaging the underlay.
Also, since PVC flooring has no adhesive on itself, it can be
recycled.
The first GreenLay installation was performed in 1995 as
a test. But after more than 15 years, it continues. Since
Tarkett introduced GreenLay, over 700,000 m² around the
world have been installed using this innovative technique.
