cars, ground transportation, hotel shuttles, a cafe and more. Flying into the
Valley is so EASY.

Welcome
from the President, Debbie Gallaher
On behalf of the Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce, I extend greetings to visitors and
residents alike.
What do we love about Wenatchee? Everything! We are a valley that has four distinct and
beautiful seasons and is bursting with recreational opportunities year around. Our rivers,
trails and parks invite kayakers and boaters, hikers or bike riders, and climbers of all ages and
skill levels. The Wenatchee Valley was ranked as one of the top 10 most fitness-friendly cities
in America.
Our community offers a wide variety of professional services and business opportunities. Yet our roots run deep with the bounty of our agricultural traditions. We are proud of
Confluence Health, a state of the art hospital and healthcare facility that cares for 160,000
patients a year and covers a 12,000 square mile service area.
Board of Directors
The Wenatchee Valley Chamber of
Commerce Board of Directors works
closely with the Executive Director
to ensure the quality performance of
our organization. Professionals from
diverse industries are represented
including:

BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
LEMONGRASS
A businesses success is driven not only by its quality products but also by
the employee’s role in welcoming and serving its customers. Lemongrass
Natural Foods accomplishes this by creating an atmosphere where employees and customers feel relaxed and welcomed.
Natalie will spend time researching a product or topic of interest to a
customer. She is always learning and sharing ideas often inviting other
professionals to the store to showcase their business. If Natalie doesn’t have
an item in stock you need, she will seek it out and call you when it arrives.
Customers can count on a smile and a “thank you for shopping locally” with
each visit to Lemongrass Natural Foods.
Lemongrass Natural Foods has a reputation for going the extra mile.
Whether that is helping to meet the needs of a client or looking for ways
to form partnerships that lead to more cost effective business practices.
By carrying quality products, sharing news and information, and being a
community partner, Natalie has formed customer and business relationships
that will continue long into the future.

BUSINESS
NON-PROFIT OF THE YEAR
WENATCHEE VALLEY COLLEGE FOUNDATION
At a time when the community is celebrating the 75th Anniversary of
Wenatchee Valley College, the Wenatchee Valley College Foundation is
experience a time of growth and diversification. This new energy is credited
with forging new community partnerships and connection for the College.
The foundation is set to provide over $450,000 in funding to various projects, activities, and scholarships during the 2014-2015 academic year. This
includes $186,500 in faculty and staff support; $111,653 in program support;
$55,000 for student childcare and emergency financial support; $50,000
for the 75th anniversary of the college; $25,000 for unexpected needs of
the College; $20,000 to furnish the Veteran’s Lounge; $20,000 annually
for Veteran’s work-study scholarships; and, $10,000 annual for emergency
assistance for students.
But, the success doesn’t stop there. The WVC Foundation, in partnership
with Alcoa, was instrumental in funding $115,000, over three years, for the
creation and implementation of the new machining program at Wenatchee
Valley College that launched fall of 2014.
CORNERSTONE AWARD
LEGACY AWARD
MARIACHI ESTRELLA DE MEXICO
SAM & VICKIE MILLS
Mariachi Estrella De Mexico, created in 2005 by Ignacio and Osbaldo
Chavez, is a dedicated group of musician-volunteers who give their time
and talent to Wenatchee, Washington State, the northwest and country.
They consistently provide free music lessons for low income families/
children/adults of NCW, provide means to obtain musical instruments, and
preform as a conduit for multiculturalism through music while serving as
excellent role models. The music of Mariachi Estrella De Mexico instills a
sense of community and is a vehicle through which they inspire others to
collaborate multi-culturally.
Sam and Vickie Mills of Mills Bros. in downtown Wenatchee are the 2015
winners of the Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Legacy Award,
a recognition of lifetime achievement of hard work and community
contributions. Mills Bros. was started by Sam and Harvey Mills in 1906. Their
commitment to selling high-quality merchandise, providing outstanding
customer service and leadership in downtown affairs has been exemplary.
CORNERSTONE
AWARD
NUMERICA
In their quiet, understated approach, Sam and Vickie Mills epitomize what it
means to be community leaders.
Numerica’s charitable giving is considered an investment in enhancing lives and fulfilling dreams, which is why Numerica donated over $835,000 to community efforts last year. In 2014, Numerica came on as the naming partner of the Performing Arts
Center, investing $50,000 in the PAC each year for the next ten years. Numerica increased its partnership with the Chamber to
include an annual sponsorship of “Wake Up Wenatchee,” recognizing the importance of the series to the business community.
Last year, Numerica was presented with the “Sweetheart for Kids” award from the Children’s Home Society, and was proud to
surprise Solomon’s Porch with a $5,000 donation as part of its CEO on the Road program. Numerica also partners with the
Apple Blossom Festival, Mission Ridge, Central Washington Hospital Foundation, and the Youth Arena Enrichment Fund.

OUR CITIES
The quality of life in the Wenatchee Valley is unsurpassed, evident by a
steadily increasing population and a strong, diverse economy. The area’s
natural beauty and abundance of recreational opportunities are two of the
many reasons people come to the Wenatchee Valley.
The Wenatchee Valley Mall, located in downtown East Wenatchee, gives
our area’s residents and visitors a more urban retail experience with over
forty stores including Sportsman’s Warehouse, Olive Garden, Macy’s, Ross,
Marshall’s, and Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
With an urban area consisting of 80,000 people, the region offers the
perfect balance of larger city amenities with the relaxed and friendly
environment of a smaller town. Residents and visitors escape from their
everyday routines on the Apple Capital Loop Trail, a pedestrian and bicycle
path that meanders along the banks of the Columbia River, crossing at two
points and connecting the cities of East Wenatchee and Wenatchee.
The area is a growing hub for all of North Central Washington serving a
population base of over 250,000 people. The Valley economy is also closely
tied to the Seattle Metro area given we are only a 2 ½ hour drive, or a short
20 minutes flight, over the beautiful Cascades Mountains.
Along this developing waterfront you’ll find Pybus Public Market;
a community gathering place with an excellent source of locally grown
fruits and vegetables complimented by a quality selection of artisan and
ethnic products.
Adjacent to the waterfront is beautiful historic downtown Wenatchee.
Home to numerous small businesses you will find a truly unique shopping
and dining experience.
The performing and visual arts are highly valued in the region adding to
our rich cultural diversity and history. East Wenatchee is actively involved
in international relations through an ongoing cultural exchange with
Misawa, Japan. The Mayors of East Wenatchee, Wenatchee, and Misawa
signed a Sister City Agreement in 2001. Misawa was selected because East
Wenatchee was the landing site of Clyde Pangborn and Hugh Herndon,
flying Miss Veedol on the first non-stop Trans-Pacific Flight from Misawa,
Japan, in October 1931. The two cities host delegations from Misawa in the
spring during the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival and in the fall
during the Wings & Wheels Festival. Likewise a delegation from our community visit Misawa in August of each year.
We invite you to choose this place: to visit, to explore, or to stay.

DIVERSE INDUSTRIES
Agriculture
Fruit commodities including apples, pears, cherries, peaches and apricots are locally grown and
distributed around the globe, as well as wheat,

industry supports agricultural workers, growing

Home Building,
Real Estate & Finance
The housing market in the Wenatchee Valley led
the nation in appreciation in 2007 and early 2008
according to figures posted by the IFHEO. While
activity has slowed, building activity continues.
The industry includes contractors, subcontractors,
designers, REALTORS, title insurance and escrow,
banks and mortgage brokerage firms, to name a
few. The Government or Public Services sector
is the largest industry by gross wages paid and
includes such employers as Wenatchee-Okanogan
Nation Forest Service, our PUD’s, the medical

field, agriculture and supporting industries (filed
work, transportation, processing and packaging,
marketing and sales), Alcoa, and many more. The
Wenatchee area serves as a hub for local, state
and federal services.
New homes are built to suit the varying needs of
our region’s residents—spec homes, custom homes
and condominiums—while existing homes are
popular as well. Our local real estate market has
remained very active as 2015 begins due to historically low interest rates, the quality of life our area
offers and the myriad of recreational opportunities
our residents enjoy. Prices continue to rise moderately due to consistent demand and limited supply.
While the building industry prospers your local area

Skiing & Snowboarding
Light powder, amazing views, and terrain to fit
everyone in the family, that is Mission Ridge Ski
& Board Resort. Only 12 miles from Wenatchee,
the ski area is built into a 2,000 acre basin on
the eastern side of the Cascade Mountains. A
little higher, a little drier, and quite a bit “sunshinier” than the other mountains in our area.
That means when storms come in, they drop a
different kind of snow at Mission Ridge: light, dry
powder.
Mission Ridge has 36 designated runs spread
over 2,000 spectacular acres of trails, chutes,
screamers and bowls, with a 2,250 foot vertical
drop. Arriving two weeks after a storm? No
problem. Mission Ridge has some amazing
backcountry that is about as easy to access as
you’ll find. If you plan on heading out to these
areas, be sure to check in with ski patrol and
