Speakers this year are: Ish Monroe http://www.ishmonroe.com/ and Peter Thliveros http://petertfishing.com/peter-thliveros/ . The seminars are free and if you volunteer to help out at our booth there’s usually a chance to pop in on at least one; maybe more. You may also want to browse the tackle shop to see what new lures/equipment is available for the coming fishing season. Feb 1st Meeting & Swap-O-Thon The February 1st meeting will feature our annual swapmeet where members may stake a claim on a table and sell or swap fishing gear or . . . whatever. Following the swap meet Danny Cossich will discuss our point system and tournament rules. This annual sale has been moved to March 19th from 8am-3pm at: American Legion Alexander Bradley Burns Post 80 4000 Saratoga Avenue Downers Grove, IL 60515 We really count on our members to provide support for this event and hope you can include it in your busy schedule. Fox River Event Replaced by Tony Cox Memorial Tourney A number of our club members asked why we eliminated the Fox River from our Events this year. The Planning Committee used a number of factors in this decision. One reason was the difficulty in adhering to the rules. It's difficult enough measuring your fish while wading and it's even more difficult having a partner witness your catch. Another reason is the unpredictability of the river flow and trying to keep it safe for all members. Last year the Event was a flop mainly because of the heat. This year instead of having this as an Event, we decided to name the Illinois River Event in July, the Tony Cox Memorial Tournament. The Illinois River is one local Event that has been consistent year after year, so it was Members Speak Out ! Got a good fishing tip? Know of a new hot spot that you’d care to share with fellow club members? Have an idea that will make our club even better? Maybe a speaker you’d like to recommend? Well, this is the place. I know our club members have great ideas and great information to share. I believe that the big problem for many is finding an easy way to reach other members without “broadcasting” that information to the whole world via social media or e-mailing everyone. Well, here’s your answer, send it to me. I would really like to make this newsletter a place where we can help and support each other. Please help me do that. 2007 Mercury 9.9 h.p.
