BW Container Systems’ Area Gantry Infeed Upgrade for Case
Palletizers replaces traditional, existing lane dividers, case-turning
conveyors and case turning bumpers with a servo-controlled area
gantry robot mounted over a continuous mat top belt. The Case
Palletizer - Area Gantry Infeed Upgrade utilizes a single, servo
controlled Area Gantry Robot™ (AGR) to position and/or turn each
case, bundle, or tray into proper position for layer formation.
The configuration of the AGR offers virtually unlimited pattern
combinations and more importantly, the handling of virtually all
kinds of products: cases, naked or shrink-wrapped trays, plastic
shells, and shrink-wrapped bundles. This allows products to be
palletized that traditionally could not be bump-turned and had to
be palletized using slower belt-turning technology, which limited
production. The AGR eliminates the need for bump turns (typically
used in in-line palletizers) providing gentler handling and reducing
the risk of product damage. This technology allows for speeds
up to 35 cases per minute (depending upon case size, cases may
be able to be paired to run at higher speeds). Changeover time is
significantly reduced as there are no case turners or slat-dividers to
adjust.
