THE BEAC N - Regional Associations
THE BEAC N New England Promotional Products Association • June 2013 Newsletter NEPPA NIGHT AT FENWAY It was another successful NEPPA Night at Fenway on June 6th in many ways. We had another sell-out as distributors and suppliers gathered at the Cask 'n Flagon prior to the game against the Texas Rangers. This has proven to be our showcase event of the year. We enjoyed mingling with friends and sharing NEPPA Vice President Nick D'Eramo (Triple Stitch many stories in a relaxed Sportswear) represented NEPPA and greeted fans atmosphere. The “ballpark” from the scoreboard! menu was enjoyed by all and got everyone in the mood for a thrilling walk-off win by our home team. And the weather cooperated right to the end. David Katseff, MAS, president of MasterCast Ltd., had this to say, “All three of us from MasterCast thoroughly enjoyed our NEPPA Night at Fenway! I was pleasantly surprised at the variety and quality of the food at the Cask 'n Flagon... and, it was very nice of you to ask David Ortiz to send us all home smiling! This event has become a really nice NEPPA tradition.” We can only hope that our first place team continues their winning ways. And thanks to all who contributed to making this a winning evening! Every issue we will highlight a NEPPA distributor and supplier/multiline rep member for an inside look at their super star careers and personal achievements! This issue the spotlight is on Jay Shapiro of IM Incentives, Needham, MA and Michael Moore of Bay State Specialty Company, Lakeville, MA. JAY SHAPIRO MICHAEL MOORE What is your title/role at Bay State Specialty Company? I am currently the President of Bay State Specialty Company. I oversee the operational functions of the company as well as all sales activity. What is your title/role at IM Incentives? President / Owner / Salesperson or whatever else I can do to help get it done. What do you like best about your company? The team approach, culture, work ethic our employees deliver to each other, to our clients and to our suppliers on a daily basis. I am lucky and proud to have a group of talented people who work hard to convey our core principles: providing creative solutions, exceptional service, execution on all aspects of each order while delivering all that was promised. Plus, we answer the phone, and you can speak with a person who can assist in providing answers or solutions to any questions that you might have. What do you like best about your company? We are a small family owned business. This gives us the flexibility to make quick decisions regarding our business and our customers without the bureaucratic issues other companies deal with. What is new & upcoming with your company? This year we focused on two areas. First, we introduced several new silicone products. They are awesome because they perform exceptionally well and take up to 500 degrees. Second, we worked on our flashlight category. New super bright LED lights with great designs and attractive price points. What is new & upcoming with your company? Stay tuned news to follow.... Tell us something about you that most people may not know? I was born and spent the first part of my life in Iowa. Tell us something about you that most people may not know? Fiercely competitive but I hate conflict or controversy in any situation. If you could choose any profession other than your current one, what would it be? When I was young I thought about being a minister, today I would be a politician. If you could choose any profession other than your current one, what would it be? Hard to pick one: Top choice would be a general manager of an NFL team or a restaurateur and chef as I love the creative part of cooking, seeing people smile while eating and drinking with friends. What is your favorite quote (movie/literary/personal)? From the movie Outlaw Josey Wales, “Dying ain't much of a living boy.” “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” –Abraham Lincoln What is your favorite quote (movie/literary/personal)? “Live life to the fullest, laugh at least once a day and go to sleep each night at peace. Now make sure you achieve all three on a daily basis.” –Anonymous What is your passion? I love to cook and create food with my wife. What drives you? I have one in college and one getting ready to go. At present, it is all consuming. Wish me luck. What is your passion? Tough choice but my top passions are: Cooking, eating, skiing and competing on the field in all sports. What drives you? My wife Abby, my sons Robby and Andrew and trying to please the people around me. 4 THE BEAC Oh baby, that’s EASY! How do you outfit groups, large and small, in the same fabric across all sizes?
