Santorini, the most southern island of the Cyclades has a lot to offer to its visitors. There are a number of

- Santorini has been lived on longer than anyone realized, at least 6000 years, back to Stone Age days. Visit the
archaeological site of Akrotiri, a prehistoric city, once a cosmopolitan harbour full of life and new ideas and walk
around its streets and squares. Prosperity underlain the cultural blooming of Akrotiri, attested by its beautiful
wall paintings, restored from fragments salvaged from the catastrophe, when the island exploded in a gigantic
volcanic eruption.
- Don't miss out a boat trip to the volcanic islands of Palea and New Kameni that dominate the middle of the
caldera. Walk along the crater of the dormant volcano and enjoy the volcanic grey- black landscape against the
deep blue of the Aegean Sea. Swim in the hot springs of sulphurous water.
- Located in the north of the island, sometimes referred to as Apano Meria, Ia is the second largest village of
Santorini. Walk around its marble - laid streets up to the medieval castle and experience its magnificent sunset.
A small nautical museum provides an interesting insight into the maritime history of the area.
- Visit Therassia, the island to the west of the caldera and walk from its small port up to the village of Manolas.
Enjoy a less crowded place with picturesque houses and small fish – taverns.
- Go to the highest peak of the island, Prophitis Elias and experience a spectacular view of the whole island
from North to South a panoramic view of the Caldera, even of the island surrounding Santorini.
- Swim in Perissa, at 9 km long beach and enjoy its crystal-clear water and the black volcanic sand.
- Finally, don't leave out to visit a winery where you can taste Santorini's famous wine and discover how it is
made from grapes grown on volcanic soil.
