Technological leader
o In 2011, Gamesa has doubled the number of its technological centres
worldwide to ten, as well as the number of R&D professionals
o Backed by a 200 million euro loan from the European Investment Bank
(EIB) for its R&D and Innovation Strategy until 2011
o Participation in the leading European R&D projects in the industry:
• Azimut. Gamesa leads this consortium to develop a 15-MW offshore wind
turbine using 100% Spanish technology
• Windlider 2015. Leads a consortium, granted by Spanish program Cenit.
This project aims at designing large wind turbines
• Upwind. Gamesa takes part in this European research project on future
wind generation and the design of very large wind generators, that will be
installed in onshore and offshore wind farms
• Reliawind. Gamesa leads this European project that aims at enhancing
reliability in wind turbine design, operations and maintenance of wind
turbines
