Shoreline and Memorial Construction Bulletin August 2016 • Shoreline Pavilion Entrance As work continues on the new Shoreline ED and Patient Tower, construction of a new Pavilion entrance facing the Elizabeth Street crosswalk will be underway during the first half of August. During this time, the hallway facing Elizabeth Street will be closed off. The public restrooms in that hallway will be closed for the first two weeks of August during construction. Patients and staff will still be able to access the Pavilion via the existing entrance on the west side of the building or Pavilion elevators through the exterior door nearest OR elevators. Signs will be in place directing patients to the nearest restrooms. • S horeline Pavilion 9th Floor Throughout August, crews will continue work on the build-out of the 9th floor of the Pavilion. This will include plumbing and electrical work to prepare space for 27 beds to be located on that floor. Work crews will utilize service elevator #34 during all Pavilion construction. Please help make patients and visitors on the 8th floor aware that this is related to our campus transformation project. • S horeline Pavilion 2nd Floor OR Work crews will begin the 2nd floor expansion of several Operating Rooms. Some rooms may be closed or relocated during this period. Please make patients and visitors aware that this is related to our campus transformation project. •Abdominal Specialist-South TX Building Demolition To make way for the Shoreline Pavilion’s new helicopter landing pad, the Abdominal Specialist Building located at the corner of Shoreline Boulevard and Morgan Street will be demolished in late August or early September. The practice in that building will relocate to another space approximately a block up Morgan Street. Please be aware of construction near that corner as work is underway. •Central Utility Plant The Central Utility Plant, which will house many of the main operating systems for the transformed Shoreline campus, is taking shape near the Centennial Parking Garage. The driveway entrance off Santa Fe Street will remain open and will be moved closer to Ayers Street. Please watch for crews as you exit onto Santa Fe Street. • S horeline Pier Drilling Construction crews have erected several large cranes at the site of the new Shoreline patient tower as they begin drilling and erecting the piers that will support the 10-story structure. Work will continue 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as the tower begins to take shape. Please be aware of work crews around the perimeter of the work site and watch for large trucks in the area. • S horeline Showroom The grand opening of our project showroom is slated for September, which will be located at the Shoreline campus. Garcia Memorial Family Health Center The exterior building construction and roofing are nearing completion at the Family Health Center. Over the next few months you will see construction begin on the interior layout of the building. We remain on track to complete the construction by fall and operations launched by the end of the calendar year 2016.
