Elizabeth Theriault Elizabeth.theriault@teacher.cis.edu.vn Page 1 CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL PROGRAM ~ DALAT– YEAR 6 April 5th – 8th, 2016 ITINERARY: ** Itinerary is dependent on flight arrival time ** Day 1 (Tuesday, April 5th): Saigon – Dalat arrival – Tuyen Lam Camping (B,L,D) 5:00 am – Pick up at CIS International School, and then vehicle transfers the group to Tan Son Nhat Airport to take the flight from Saigon to Dalat. Flight from Saigon to Dalat: VN 1380 SGN: 06:50 am – DLI 07:40 am 7:40 am – Arrival. Vehicles pick up and transfer the group from Lien Khuong Airport to Tuyen Lam Lake area (Box breakfast provided). Then the group will be divided into 2 groups. Group A: 4 teams 9:15 am – 12:15 pm – Razorback trek This 9 km adventure, the newest of PTV’s one day treks, heads up and along a jungle fringed ridgeline just south of town. This lonely trail charges up to its peak elevation early on and then gently rolls before heading down to the lake where it finishes. Then short boat ride to Nam Qua Campsite. 12:15 – 1:30 pm – Lunch at Nam Qua Campsite and check in tents 1:30 – 3:30 pm – Raft building Competition The 4 teams will be provided with Raft building materials (bamboo, twine, floating drums and life jackets). Teams will have 1.5 hours to design and build their own rafts which they will use to race against each other through a set course on Tuyen Lam Lake. Page 2 3:30 – 4::30 pm – Cleean Up. Monkey Bridge Team meembers must climb up to the top o of the monk key bridge and walk k across in tthe fastest ttime possiblle. Team Bu uilding Cha allenges: Stepping stones m one The objeective of thiss activity is to move thee team from side of an impassable area to th he other by using stonees in the possible timee. (Cooperaation, Teamw work, fastest p Brainsto orming and Balance) Insanityy (Closing acctivity – Who ole group) This actiivity is donee as a multi team competition. Thee relationsship betweeen cooperattion and com mpetition is shown in an interesting situation. Page 4 3:30 pm – Group B will take a short boat ride to Nam Qua Campsite. Check in tents. Clean Up/Relax. 4:30 – 6:00 pm – “Camp cooking” class (Spaghetti) Students will divide into 8 teams and cook their Spaghetti under the supervision of guides and teachers. Then the group will have dinner at the campsite. 6:00 – 7:00 pm – Dinner at Nam Qua Camp restaurant 7:30 – 8:30 pm – Bonfire *Note: CIS will bring marshmallows and Phat Tire Ventures will provide bamboo sticks for marshmallow toasting.) ** Overnight in tents at the camp ** Day 2 (Wednesday, April 6th): Dalat – Tuyen Lam Camping (B,L,D) 7:00 – 8:00 am – Breakfast at Campsite restaurant. Group A and Group B will rotate the activities of Day 1 as above. Group A: Ropes Course and Team Building games Group B: Razorback Trek and Rafting Building 6:00 – 7:00 pm – Dinner at Nam Qua Camp restaurant 7:00 – 8:30 pm – Bonfire and Minority Dance Performance Page 5 *Note: The Group will bring marshmallows and Phat Tire Ventures will provide bamboo sticks for marshmallow toasting.) ** Overnight in tents at the camp ** Day 3 (Thursday, April 7th): Dalat – Langbian (B,L,D) 7:00 – 7:45 am – Breakfast at Campsite restaurant. Briefing before the activities of the day 7:45 – 8:30 am – Check out tents and boat ride to Tuyen Lam Boat station 8:30 am –Transfer by A/C vehicle to Langbian Mountain for Abseiling and Hiking. The group will then be broken into 2 groups. Embark on a fun day of abseiling on Langbian Mountain. Our professionally trained guides will show you the ropes and prepare you for the journey down the cliff face. No previous experience necessary for this action‐packed day of rappelling, hiking and scrambling on Langbian! What is abseiling? Abseiling is lowering your‐self over a cliff face by using ropes and other safety related devices. The cliff that we abseil off of on Langbian is an impressive 25 meters high. At the practice slope you’ll learn the basics of knot tying, harness wearing, hardware, and proper abseiling technique. After the guides are satisfied that you’ve got it down, you’ll head down the Abseiling cliffs! Group A: Jeep up for Abseiling and Hiking 9:30 – 10:30 am – Jeep up and walk up to the cliffs 10:30 am – 12:30 pm – Abseiling After the Abseiling, it takes about 10 minutes downhill to your picnic lunch spot from the bottom of the cliff. 12:45 pm – Picnic lunch at site 1:30 – 4:00 pm – Hiking Page 6 The grou up will then n hike down through pin ne forest an nd enjoy breeathtaking v views. Afterr about 1.5 hourrs, you will b be back at th he car park where the h hike finishees. A and B will b be back to h hotel 4:00 pm – Transfer back to Dallat (Group A togetherr at the samee time.) Group B B: Hiking an nd Abseilin ng and Jeep p down 9:30 am – Hiking up to the Ab bseiling site e This group will starrt the hike frrom Langbiaan car park up to the clliffs. The first section of the trail is th hrough farm mland and co offee plantaation. We co ontinue to w walk uphill tthrough pine forest paaths. Here y you can takee a short resst to gain strength on th he way up tto one of thee peaks off Langbian. A At the peak,, you can en njoy a break k and then you u will be treated to a piccnic lunch o of fresh vegggies and fru uits, baguetttes with an assortmeent of toppiings. After lu unch and a rest on the mountain‐ttop, we mov ve to the praactice slope forr the abseiliing. 1:30 pm – P Picnic lunch at the mountain 12:45 – 1 1:30 – 4::00 pm – Prractice and Abseiling. Then jeep down to the ca ar park 4:00 pm – Transfer back to Dallat (Group A A and B will b be back to hotel ttogether at the same tim me.) hotel. Check k in/Clean u up/Relax 4:30 pm – Back to h uffet Dinnerr at Moulin R Rouge Restaaurant 6:00 – 9::00 pm – Bu night in Hoaang Anh Resort ** ** Overn Page 7 Day 4 (Friday, April 8th): Dalat – Community Service Activities – Saigon Departure (B,L,D) 7:00 – 8:00 am – Breakfast at hotel. Check out hotel. * Note: Students need to pack up their belongings beforehand. 8:00 am – Vehicle transfer the children of Mai Am Tinh Thuong (Home for Abandoned Children) to Hoang Anh Hotel. * Note: + The children of Mai Am Tinh Thuong will join Group A and Group B on this day. 8:45 am – Vehicles transfer the group to Lam Dong Museum. Then the group will be divided into 2 smaller groups. 9:00 – 10:00 am – Morning’s Activities Group A: Scavenger Hunt at Lam Dong Museum (See Appendix) There will be 4 teams for the Scavenger Hunt. Get ready for our Scavenger Hunt around Lam Dong Museum. Earn as many points as you can in the fastest time for your team to be the winner! This scavenger hunt forces teams to strategize and work together. Students will have a chance to know more about Lam Dong and Dalat such as: the nature of Lam Dong, Dalat in the past and present, the archaeological findings in Lam Dong, the cultural characteristics of indigenous peoples (ethnic groups of Ma, K'ho, Churu) through over 15,000 objects displayed at Lam Dong Museum. 10:15 – 11:45 am – Reflections Art Project Students will be provided with materials (paper, water‐colour and brush) to create an artistic representation of the trip’s experiences and activities. *** Guides and teachers will judge for the winning team: • Team work • How meaningful it is • How beautiful it is Group B: City tour 9:00 – 10:30 am – Cable car Students will take Cable car down to Truc Lam Zen Monastery, then vehicle transfer to Datanla Waterfall. Page 8 10:30 – 11:45 am – Sliding cart at Datanla Waterfall Students will enjoy the activity of Cart sliding at Datanla Waterfall. 12:00 – 1:00 pm – Lunch at Dalat House Restaurant 1:00 – 4:30 pm ‐ Afternoon activities 2 groups will switch the activities. After the afternoon activities, vehicles will transfer the children back to Mai Am Tinh Thuong. 4:30 pm – Depart for Lien Khuong Airport for your flight back to Ho Chi Minh City. (Box dinner provided on bus) Flight from Dalat to Saigon: VN 1383 DLI 19:10 – SGN 19:55 7:10 pm – Flight departs for HCMC. Cancellation Terms: • Cancellations occurring between 21 and 07 days before the trip, Phat Tire Ventures will retain 50% of the Total Cost. • Cancellations occurring within 07 days of the commencement of the trip will result in no refund. The lists include questions that must be answered, pictures that must be taken, and actions that must be completed at Lam Dong Museum. Points are allocated based on the difficulty of each challenge. And most importantly, all team members must stay together. Good luck! Actions to be completed: 1.
