Biscuits
Grandad Tumble has some
very special, tasty biscuits.
The recipe for these biscuits
is very secret, but we
have asked the chef
Mary-Ellen McTague
to show you a recipe
for biscuits just as
good as Grandad Tumble’s
– and here’s the recipe to
make your very own.
Mary-Ellen McTague
is a local chef who will make
lots of magical food for the
Festival in Manchester where
Mr Tumble is appearing.
Mary-Ellen is well known
for making delicious food
and for running different
restaurants around
Manchester.
Prepare the ingredients as w
ell as the equipment
(a bowl, scales, a wooden sp
oon and biscuit cutters).
You’ll be using an oven and
they can be hot, only
make these biscuits with a g
rown-up.
To make Grandad Tumble’s
Biscuits we
need three ingredients:
750g flour
500g butter
250g sugar
You need to:
1.Use your hand to rub th
e butter into flour so it
looks like breadcrumbs
2. Mix in all the sugar
3. Roll it out between piece
s of
4. Cut into shapes or sticks
5. Bake at 160 degrees Cel
sius
6. Cool on cooling racks
parchment paper
for 15-20 minutes
When the biscuits are cool
you can eat
them with strawberries & c
re
their own like Grandad Tum am, or on
ble does.
